  1. Hi chaps, WIP post has gone live! Really enjoying the build so far and all your info has been instrumental! Follow the link if you're interested in my progress. http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234956454-tamiya-135-churchill-mkvii-my-first-tank/#entry1561049 Thanks again fellas' Ben.
  2. Prelim work has started on the turret, lower hull and drive sprokets/idlers..... All helped along with a cold pint of mild! This will be a slow build due to work commitments but i'll post as often as i can. More to come soon hopefully.
  3. Hi all. I've started a bit of an epic journey with this one. It's my first tank so a completely different learning curve for me! I have loads of experience with aircraft and figures so hopefully those skills will come in handy with this one. I plan on building it into a dio using as many of the figures as possible to really bring it to life as regardless of how much i love the Churchill its hardly the most 'dynamic' looking tank! lol In terms of after market i've got hold of the eduard etch set for it and i'll also be using an RB productions replacement gun and as a little extra their excellent radio antenna mounts. Any suggestions/hints and tips are welcome throughout the build. So without further ado!!
  4. Well an A it shall be then.....
  5. That's a seriously cool scheme. Well a C it shall be!!
  6. Oh they are without a doubt, but also much more expensive. I Paid £22 for my Tamiya one and I'm perfectly happy with it. All the etch I've got plus the replacement gun will build it into a lovely model hopefully. even though it's from the 70's the molds are clearly in excellent condition as fit so far is excellent and the parts are crisp and free of flash. It's great for the money
  7. Haha! Cheers chaps. Some really useful advice here Well I've started her so I'll do a work in progress soon. I bought a new gun, radio antenna mount and the Eduard etch. the etch arrived today and it's boggled my mind. I'll be getting my hands on a hold and fold i reckon. I'll be building her into a dio using more or less all of the figures including the Tommy as he's too nice to ignore! I'll keep you all posted

  9. Cheers Steve, I'll be putting aside my Tamiya 1/32 Spit mk.IX to start this as I'm really keen to get my teeth into it. I was looking at some metal Guns for it earlier on so i reckon I'll go in for one of those, the Eduard fret is cheap enough too so why the hell not! Re the tracks....slightly worried about the rubber band type that comes in the box with regards to paint adherance whilst stretching over the wheels. Any tips?? cheers, Ben.
  10. Hi Chaps. I'm a newbie to AFV modelling and have picked up this kit. I really love the Tank so I'm wandering if there are pitfalls or inaccuracies i need to be mindfull of? Any tips on painting/ modelling/ after market? I've been doing aircraft/figures for years so I'm an accomplished modeller/painter on a whole but I'm new to tanks! Any help or opinions are welcome.
  11. Scooby, you have inspired me! i'll do an earlier D type i think. care to share any insights on the 416?
  12. As always you chaps deliver in spades hasegawa it is then! Not sure on which model to go for, perhaps a super. thanks all!
  13. Hi chaps. Needing to pick your collective brains for a second... I really want to do an F-18 at some point in the near future and i would like your opinion as to which kit is the best in 1/48 straight from the box. I don't mind adding aftermarket stuff as i quite enjoy super detailing but i want to avoid any surgery really! any opinion is welcome! thanks all, Ben.
  14. Really nice mate, exceptional painting, I'd have left the rockets off though as they were never on with stored wings. I may be wrong but also the wing locking poles are only red on restored examples and were normally grey or bare metal i think. that said if mine turns out as pretty as that I'll be very very happy
  15. exceptionally kind comments! I'll be sure to do that. Many thanks!
  16. I'm currently working on tamiyas 1/32 Mk.ixc (my favourite mark) and I'm about to start laying paint down as overall construction is complete. I'll post up when she's ready chaps. after that i may do the airfix 48th seafire fxvii, then I've got the Eduard Mk.ix royal class, an Eduard 1/48 109 e-4, trumpeter 1/32 swordfish Mk.i, revell 1/72 b-17 g and revell 1/48 A-10 to work through! thanks all for the great reception to what has been my first britmodeller post. really very humbled. Ben
  17. cheers Dave looking at your work and that 109 is beautiful! your paint work is crisp as fresh sheets, love it!
  18. that's right mate, although it's actually white. Sky spinners weren't introduced until 1941 or 42 i think. I went with white as i had seen a photo that showed a very distinct variation in shade between the yellow of the roundels and the spinner. The spinner was much brighter so appeared to me to be white. Perhaps to denote his rank and make him identifiable. either way i thought yellow would have been daft given the amount of 109's tearing around with yellow spinners. Not a nice way to go being shot by your own chaps!! hahaha! I did laugh at this! It was bloody difficult to do! It's by no way perfect but you can tell what it is i hope!
  19. I do love phantoms. Nice job mate. All those wing stencils would have bored the cack out of me though!
  20. need to reduce the stash!

Tis true, some people just don't want them. Weirdos.

  21. Hi all. i just wanted to share my latest project with you, i hope you all like it. The kit built like a dream as we all well know. i used revel acrylic paints all over which behaved excelently. The only after market bits were some eduard seat belts, the figures also by eduard, the table and chairs were from a luftwaffe set by dragon and decals from xtradecal. I then had a plaque made to decorate the base with, which was made by me. The model depicts Sqn Ldr Brian lane climbing into his mount on another typical day during the summer of 1940 and is built as a tribute to him and to the rest of 'the few'.H
