  1. Oooh that's a nice little bit of info that actually makes a lot of sense. Cheers for that
  2. Cheers Mark, This is exactly the kind of info i was after Ben.
  3. Hi Duncan, Bugger! There's something so attractive about a hunter with all it's skirts dropped. Ben
  4. Hi all, I've just picked up Revell's re-boxing of their awesome 1/32 FGA.9 and I'm wandering if anyone can share some info on the aircraft. I can easily say that the Hunter is my favorite jet aircraft so I really want to do her justice. Any bits of info would be welcome no matter how quirky. A good starting point for me would be was it common to see the flaps and air brakes dropped when parked? Thanks all Ben
  5. Hi Will. Cheers for the comments r.e the silvery tracks, i did think that my self but the problem i have is that the mud mix is well and truly obscuring the tread detail and is made primarily of plaster so isn't going anywhere! In terms of the diorama all i will say at this stage is bocage..... Ben.
  6. I'd just like to point out that the white substance in the small re-sealable bag is plaster and not a controlled substance! It came as part of AK's Heavy Muddy set.
  7. Hi all I have got to the point where I'm pleased to say that the Churchie is finished! Still lots to do in terms of the figures and diorama though so there's life in her yet! Anyway in the following shots is the final product with all the mud work and heavy weathering I've done. The first shot is of all the stuff I used for the mud and the rest are the results that were achieved by mixing them all up. Hope you like her, she's a dirty girl!
  8. Busy week next week. Travel down to Pompy on thursday for D-Day re-enactments and then Cosford air show on sunday! What a life of leisure I lead!

quite a bit. Royal Marines are staging an amphibious landing on one of the beaches, Red Arrows are in attendance, various reenactment groups then in the afternoon a small flotilla of various boats and landing craft set sail for france for the following days celebrations on the continent.

  9. Cheers chaps. The 1/200th one looks nice. more or less exactly the size I'm after. Not so sure about the 1/300 though! seems to be a quite poor casting I'm really tempted by pit roads 1/144 offering but think it might be too big for what I'm after. Again cheers for your input. If I get round to actually sorting the project out I'll send a link to the RFI post. Ben.
  10. Hi all, Does any body know of a small scale TSR-2 below 1/144? Could really use a mini one to put in a small box frame as a tribute to it accompanied by some titanium fasteners I have acquired from the original. Cheers in advance. Ben.
  11. Hi Ian. I didn't expect it to have such a positive effect on it but it really does help bring it all together so I'm pretty pleased with it I'm particularly pleased with the exhaust. I wanted it to have a look of being really hot and worn. A friend of mine in the army told me a story about Churchill's. He said in his cadet days his sergeant told him that when they used to be on the ranges at Bovington you'd be able to see the Churchill's from a mile off in the night because the exhausts would be glowing, so i wanted to reflect that kind of look with my model. Thanks for your comment Ben.
  12. Patrick cheers mate Adam, yeah that's right. I lightly misted the entire thing and concentrated the coat on areas likely to be more heavily muddy. I think that was the most pics I've put up in a single post so felt like i was spamming you all!
  13. Hi chaps! Really been cracking on with the churchie this last week. The model is at a point now where it could almost go on the shelf as is. I decided the dust effect from the flory washes was too stark a contrast with the dark green hull so I've tied it all together with a thin layer of Tamiya Flat Earth. This was the plan any way as the flat earth is designed to give me a good base for the mud work I'll be doing tonight probably. The new paler dusty look has really restored my passion for this build so I'm thoroughly back on track! (pun intended) I'll ping up some more pics as soon as I've done some heavy mud work. so here she is atm.... Sorry the post is so pic heavy!!
  14. I'll be folding personally. For 2 reasons... 1, it'll be easier to display taking up much less space, and.. 2, it's one of only a few spitfire types with foldable wings so would be nice to look at something different! A word of warning though, if you do decide to fold, remember that the ordnance was never mounted on folding wings, nor were the wing tanks. Reason being is they were unfolded by hand not hydraulically so it would have been immensely dangerous for the crew.
  15. Cheers Steve! like i said mate it's been mental here recently but I'm catching up again now!
  16. Hi Chaps! Feels like ages since my last post! To be fair it's been pretty hectic recently at ours so I've not had much time at the bench. having only done snippets since my last post this is where I'm up to at the moment. Only bits left to do are the tracks on the turret on the one side and then the main tracks. then it's fun time with the AK mud stuff I've been buying Here we are to date any way....
  17. All quiet on the western front at the moment chaps. Have been waiting for some new AK interactive weathering stuff to turn up, which they did yesterday so will try and get some posts up soon Ben.
  18. Exactly right Baldy! What an amateur mistake!!! Hopefully there aren't any IPMS judges following the thread..... Ben.
