  1. How do steve! To be honest mate I've no idea what I'm doing with them as they never had any destructions so should be interesting! I need to use them though as the kit tracks are twisted and kinked pretty badly so getting the right sit would be rock hard I think. I only went for these as they're a cheap intro into aftermarket tracks but if they really push me over the edge I'll probably go in for the modelkasten set. I had to leave the churchill behind for a bit mate. I'm really struggling with my terrain modelling and really want to get it right before I call her properly finished! All the best, Ben.
  2. Ok so I've got the eduard set along with a new tow cable, gun barrel and the hobby boss tracks (which look like they're going to be big fun ) Last question really, I've seen quite a few cromwells with perforated road wheels. Is this the norm?
  3. To be honest I would probably go for the eduard set. I've just had a look at the aber set and it looks really complex. I used eduards etch set for a mk vii churchill I did recently and was very impressed with how it lifted the model from the rankand file. The full build isn't yet finished but you can see my results here: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234956454-tamiya-135-churchill-mkvii-my-first-tank/
  4. Hi all, Just wandered if I could pick your brains? I'm shortly going to tackle my second tank in the form of tamiyas Cromwell. Can anyone tell me the difference between Aber and Eduards etch sets? There's quite a gulf in terms of price and I wandered which offers the best value? Also, in terms of tracks, I've seen a set of plastic hobby boss tracks. Are they any good, or is it best to shell out for metal tracks? I want something better looking than the rubber band style the kit comes with. Lastly, does any one know of and interior detailing sets for the kit? Cheers one and all. Ben.
  5. Not at all! Any discussion on the topic is welcome, perhaps it'll light a fire under the A/M guys!
  6. Hi all, I'm trying to find somewhere that provides a boarding ladder for hunters in 1/32. I know flightpath do one as part of a set but i only really want/need the ladder. Does any one know? Or has any one got a spare? Cheers all, Ben.
  7. Pearse, No need for thanks mate! This is what the forums are all about. Doing a work in progress is a great way of getting other people on board and sharing knowledge so it was strictly a way of scrounging ideas, techniques and reference as well as sharing my own. I'm no armour expert but I'm fairly happy with my painting and weathering so if you need advice on this front I'm happy to help with your pershing Cheers for your comments mate! Ben.
  8. That's all I needed to know! Thanks Dennis. Ben.
  9. What's the score with tip tanks? Should they be there or not?
  10. Excellent! Thanks john, reference was my next quest and this stuff is gold! Ben.
  11. As far as I'm aware it's an original limited run kit
  12. Yeah I thought as much, just fancied a quick build with no major issues but a bit of sanding and filling will be required on this one anyway I think
  13. Hi all, Recently purchased one of these and in typical fashion i'm wanting to detail her up. Also in typical fashion I've chosen a kit with the least ammount of aftermarket available! There's a plethora of stuff available for the airfix kit and I'm wondering if any of the stuff for that would fit this kit or if indeed any one has any ideas if there is any dedicated stuff out there for the Xtrakits kit? Cheers all! Ben.
  14. Gone a bit Hunter mad at the moment, i knew there was a reason why it's always been my favourite aircraft!

  15. Lovely job! I'm currently in the middle of mine. Can you tell me, how did you make the FOD covers?? Again, awesome job Ben.
  16. Hi will. You've pretty mutch voiced all of my concerns with the dio in one go! I have very limited experience in terrain modelling and scale is something i'm really concerned about as well as realism. The setting is "somewhere in Normandy, sometime after D-day" i havent really pegged it down to a specific month although i want it to be muddy so perhaps on the day its self thanks to the horrific storm or the later months. I wont be putting any more Tanks on the base as i'm limited for space and don't want a huge dio taking up a shelf, love the idea though Ben.
  17. Indeed! The plan is to have a column of infantry along side the right flank of the tank and the driver offering out a few smokes from a carton I plan to scratch up. Thought this would make a change from the wine bottles in other dioramas and gives the impression of a fair amount of banter passed around whilst the commander has a conflab with a chap at the back as to the where abouts of jerry or some such.
  18. Hello gents! It's time for a second coming! With the little one being well on her way to 5 months old and in a thorough routine I've been getting some time back to myself and it's time to resurrect the dio plans I had for my Churchie. I'm off to IPMS scale model world this Sunday (be rude not to seeing as I'm a Telford resident!) and I'm planning on picking up some extra bits such as nice trees and some 1/35 British infantry. Any way here are a couple of shots of the tank sat on the base and the general layout of what I'm planning. Also the eagle eyed may notice the extra weathering I've done to the lower hull, skirts and road wheels in the form of some dark very wet fresh mud as I love the look of a tank fresh from sodden fields etc... More to come soon! Ben.
  19. Deleted - not the wanted area
  20. Hi all. I'm finishing Tamiya's 1/32 MK.IXc soon and I'm sick of seeing Johnny Johnson spitfires at every corner and I'm not a fan of the desert scheme plus I'm not keen on Tamiya decals so I'm shamelessly on the scrounge for alternatives. Does any body have any spares? Preferably for an early MK.IXc from the XtraDecal sheet? I'm happy to pay or swap for anything I might have that could be of use? Kind regards. Ben
