  1. A plane only the British could have designed! But O so interesting. Beautiful build! Congrats! JR
  2. Stunning result! Congratulations!!!! It is uncanny that this is the paint scheme I am attempting to get right on my 1/72 Razorback... I love the result. JR
  3. Bellissimo!!!! Brilliant model and superb finish! Years ago I built the 1/72 Hasegawa kit in this very paint scheme... I am throwing it in the bin when I finish typing this.... Congrats JR
  4. You mean to say that it only took you three years to finish a model? Now, by my own standards this is lightning speed! Living and building models in a parallel universe can be tough... Great flying saucer!!!! And congrats on a pristine-looking model! JR
  5. Hi Adrian, well, this is the first RCR Breda 65 that I have seen built! IT LOOKS GOOD!!!! I have had this kit for a decade or so and I started building it eons ago, only to chicken out at the complexity of the PE in and around the cockpit... One day I will jump in the deep end and see if I can float! You sure did a wonderful job! Good news about the decals... all one needs on top of a fiddly build! Congrats!!! JR
  6. Cutting such small circular figures by hand is everything but easy. Damn frustrating comes to mind! You could make your life easier by cutting first the inside of the pattern, and only afterwards cut the outside . That way you can actually hold a big piece of plastic card as opposed to try stopping a small piece of plasticard slipping out of the Tamiya tape!!! Just a thought, looking at you progress photos. The whole project looks very good! Have fun! JR
  7. Hi Thumper. I haven't seen a Matchbox 109 since I was a young teenager, about a century ago... And I had forgotten how nice they scrub up! Your paint scheme is original and possibly more interesting than Luftwaffe 109 E models (like the ones I am busy building...). Well done!!!! You must have a hell of a Matchbox stash, from the look of it!!!! JR
  8. You have produced a fantastic pair of rising sun aircraft! Such a well worn camouflage is extremely tricky to do in order to look credible. You have achieved that and it is all to your credit. I have just two points I wish to make: - usually the red paint of the hinomarus and the identification bands would get chipped as well, and therefore wouldn't retain their pristine appearance. - unless a japanese private was ordered to get the tyres brand new-looking by using boot polish and buffing them to hell, I would dirty them somewhat in order to match the overall appearance of the plane. Just constructive comments, not detracting from the quality of your builds! Congrats! JR
  9. Ced, have you thought about taking a handful of anti depressant tablets to help you tackle the stress of floating engine cowlings, etc? Magic mushrooms could be an alternative... I agree with Beard: as much as I like the Beaufort, this kit is not for me!!! But you are doing a sterling job, so keep having fun! JR
  10. this looks dainty and extremely well built. I like the blue you used and I agree with Celt that the exact hue does not really matters. You are lucky that Vesuvius did not jump on it, thinking it was a funny-looking bug! Great show for both models! JR
  11. Bonsoir Stephane, I somehow missed your Mirage when you posted it and just found it. Now that's a beauty of a model. I am sure Mr Marcel is proud of it! I have the old Heller 1/48 kit almost half way done, but for a plane of the 1/10 Valois... Re-scribing is hell. It's going to be a hard job to get anywhere near the quality of your model. Congratulations and Cocorico! JR
  12. Hi Nancho, your SLUF is plain superb! The weathering is extremely effective and the detail is fantastic. Congratulations! JR
  13. Superbly done Cookie, although I did warn you, many moons ago, that too many Spits could be dangerous for your health (the mental one...). But this is truly inspiring, especially the brush painted NMF. You must be drinking some very powerful medicine to achieve such a smooth finish! What's next? Congrats! JR PS: It would appear that we see fb in the same light........
  14. One has to admit the Italians had a lot of style (and still have)! Beautiful aircraft, great camos, etc... Your Sparviero is gorgeous and is a hell of a tribute to the brave crews who flew them. One had to be slightly mad to fly a torpedo-totting plane, whichever side one fought for! Congratulations JR
  15. Did you really rivet the model all on your little own? It just looks fantastic and the weathering is spot on! The quality of the models displayed on BM is definitely getting intimidating... Congrats! JR
  16. Who ever said perfection was not from this world? Brilliant! JR
  17. Bonsoir Jean-Baptiste, this is real artistry! Congratulation!!! The home-vacformed canopy makes all the difference in the world. Beautiful!!! Fais quand meme gaffe, car pas grand monde ne comprend le Gaulois sur ce site... Essaye donc le British la prochaine fois!!! Dur dur! A+ JR
  18. Congrats! Very hard not to find this aircraft fantastically good looking. Well done in doing justice to this kit! JR
  19. That's a great-looking Skua, especially after 20 years of abstinence... I am not enough of a buff of the FAA, so I would never have noticed on my own the inverted colours! It just looks superb, period! Congrats JR
  20. Absolutely fantastic B-24!!! Congrats for persevering. Did you add the rivets or are they on the kit? Superb! JR
  21. Hi Patryk, you are lucky, as you still have a nuclear bunker to hide in!!!! But no need for that in this case. I like your work, and this Cobra does look good. You have done a honest assessment of what you could have done better and that is how you progress. Next model will be better, and that's what count. Keep having fun! JR
  22. Hi Stew, you are right. The kit I have got has the blue and green plastic, as opposed to the two greens of Old Thumper's. I underwent the same initiation as you regarding building unpainted, garish-looking models... But my subsequent painting trials did not much improve the final result!!!! Good old days! JR
  23. Hi, a G should be with a lengthened front fuselage, like all 190s after the A-4 variant. I guess it's only an extra 1.5 mm or so at that scale, so that may be looked upon as nit picking. One detail you'll have to modify is the top of the vertical stabiliser, where Matchbox have put both the vertical aerial of the A-4 onward, and the horizontal stub of the A-1 to A-3 versions... Bottom line, the modeler has to decide! I have this kit too, and I believe it is actually a rather accurate A-3 or A-4... But unfortunately the decals are for a G variant. Damn! Have fun with this little kit! JR
  24. Good result despite the decals problem! Could it be because you didn't put a gloss varnish coat before decalling? As you say, X-Tradecals are usually top notch... another mystery to clear! JR
