  1. Hi Ced, EDSG over Sky is one of my favourite colour scheme... So it is always with pleasure that I look at models painted this way. Your Sea Fury does look great, despite the alleged problems you mention (OK, I haven't followed your WIP... mea culpa...). Bottom line, although I have never been a fan of this plane (how dare I?....) I really like what you created! Build a Seahawk if you really want to turn me on! JR
  2. First time I see a 1/24 Bf 109, and it does look real big!!!!! Well done in sorting the canopy to perfection. Have fun finishing this bird. JR
  3. Great looking 109, especially as it is not the usual type. Congrats for your work! But to let a 7 foot tall woman put a high heel shoe on the wing is unconscionable! JR
  4. Well spotted Greg, I had missed that small, horrid detail on the photo... Johnny, listen to the man! This is another opening panel of the canopy, without a framing, and on both sides of it! Life is so unfair!!! JR
  5. Hi Johnny boy, just saw your thread for the first time now. I believe that the "seam" you sanded on the front cockpit should have been left well alone, as it can be seen on every photo of 109E I have looked at. It may be a ventilation opening, although I am unsure of its use at the moment (I know I used to be damn sure of it! Old age setting?) Anyway, the dastardly deed has been done... So keep having fun! And a great New Year to you (from where I sit, in 6 minutes... Damn!) Cheers JR
  6. Hi Greg, fantastic build and paint job, especially with your acrylic paints! I remember when these kits came out and were hailed as the bees knees of modelling! And we hardly ever criticized them as they were so innovative... We seem to have gone full circle as we still find them great despite all the new toolings... Will we ever be satisfied? A great New Year to you and family! Have fun. JR
  7. Hi John, I am actually really surprised at how good these little kits look! Keep on having fun and do not make any spelling mistakes when you paint the pilot's name under the cockpit! The micro painting police are watching you!!!! All my best wishes for 2017 to you and your family. JR
  8. Mould sure hasn't got time to appear on your kit boxes, as your processing rate would make GM jealous! I find this really impressive. The Lancaster is a beauty, although I do prefer the GR.1 as far as size is concerned! Keep up the good work JR
  9. I am really impressed by what you have achieved in 2016. And everything looks good too. The Sunderland is most striking. Great show and congrats are in order! And a Great New Year to you! JR
  10. Hi Dannie, a smashing rendition of this fantastic bird! Superb! How did the Academy decals behave? I keep asking this silly question to Bmers who tackle this kit, as I am really scared to build mine to be let down by the decals... Once bitten.,.. Brilliant job! and a Great New Year! JR
  11. Considering the quality of the kit you started with, the end result is stunning and nothing short of miraculous! Had you been paid by the hour, you'd be a rich man by now. Congratulations!!! JR
  12. A real classic and a beautiful result. The result for a brush painted model with acrylics (I hate the little blighters!) is rather stunning. Congrats and a Happy New Year! JR
  13. Hi Steve, this looks big and very nice!!! I was surprised to read that you had re-scribed the fuselage... I never thought you were the re-scribing type!!! Too time consuming for you, I thought, with your stakanovitch approach to modelling!!! It's gonna be beautiful! A great New Year to you and family! JR
  14. Hi Ignacio, your trio is very good and is screaming for you to build a fourth one!!! Glad the Academy decals for the Spit XIV were excellent. I have an old issue of the same kit and even I can see the decals are booby trapped! All three models look the part. Congrats!! JR
  15. Hi Cheezburger, good looking 262: the cammo is simple but effective, without the hassle of mottling. Clever! I see what you mean about the canopy... They kind of chose the wrong engineering solution for the canopy of their Fw 190 as well... So it's official: canopies are not their forte. Great show!!! JR
  16. Really gorgeous and impressive Tomcat, but isn't a Tomcat always impressive? Brilliant work! Congrats and a Happy Christmas to you too. JR
  17. The Corsair of Jesse Brown crash landed on a snow-covered landscape and Hudner put his own plane down nearby. There was just a lot of snow, and that comes out clearly in the photos of the diorama. I like it! JR
  18. Hi, the Spitfire part of the build is fantastically executed and perfectly weathered. The allegorical side pertaining to the falcon of Malta leaves me cold and unfortunately in my eyes destroys what would have been a great build. Having said that, you shouldn't give a toss about what I think, as this type of fantasy is purely a matter of personal taste. I shall be waiting for a "normal" build, which I am sure will be superb! JR
  19. Hi guys, the white page is my fault, and I wish I could say indeed that it is a photo of a white-out in Chamonix where I am skying now (I wish....). My Enter button got jammed at the end of the post and there you are.... Anyway clutter is bad for you! Apologies JR
  20. Hi Rob, I really like your take on both models, although I have always had a weakness for the B-26, so it will get my vote! Brush painting NMF is no mean feat and you have done your Mitchell proud! Great show!!! JR
  21. I wish I could help with a harmless medium to use to simulate explosions and mayhem in general. Statistically, we French only use 3/4 of a bar of soap a year (it is definitely a British-inspired poll!), so we for sure do not touch, ever, things like cotton wool that are definitely too clean for our grubby fingers.... Of course you could use 10 grams of C4 in your MiG and make sure you get your timing right for the photo, as there will only be one explosion! The joy on Mrs. Ced will be something to behold. Anyway, just mulling some ideas like most of us! Cheers JR
  22. Well done! This is a great-looking Scooter and in an unusual livery. This is a great kit to work with; it is just a shame for the over-thick sprue gates... small pieces' breakage guaranteed. Congrats! JR
  23. Now that's a well dosed weathering where it is supposed to be! Really impressive paint work, looking totally realistic. And a superb build as well! Congrats JR
  24. Hi Val, impressive looking Zero and you sure put a lot of work into it! Superb! As a training plane, the underside may have been yellow-orange... a matter of taste, I guess, in the absence of a color picture. For your info, a photo of that Zero shows the underwing Hinomaru sporting a white border. Cheers JR
