  1. Warships are about the crews who served on them they are just machines without them. You can't compare life on a battleship to life on a submarine. Some ships got lots of press but the majority have always been unsung hero’s. History books have left us a lot of knowledge but there is a new legacy growing in the form of social media. There are growing numbers of groups who restore old friendships and reminisce about deeds done, business as well as social. Might be a bit biased but I’ll say all the submarines that ever sailed.
  2. I'll join in. Got a mint pre owned Tam 360 spider for a good price at Yeovilton last visit and have just become the proud owner of a Tam Ducati 1199 Panigale. If I practice hard i should be able to do one of them justice by then. Sorry no pics of the lovely Italian female form.
  3. Spot On! Why o why have we not got a 1/350 plastic kit? On top of the UK ships there are the foreign builds, add to that all the sales and resales, the various conversions could make additional issues or give the AM retailers some business, there must be a reasonable market for a kit. Don't mind who makes it.
  4. You guys are pretty much confirming options I have been considering. We have visited Duxford twice and Shuttleworth once but not on a flying day. Even the wife likes both venues! We live in Devon so its not a day out for us. Need to check out dates and figure out how to keep the wife away from Cambridge retail therapy. Thanks again

  8. Hi All Before the summer becomes a distant memory and Christmas ‘spirit’ addles your brains I would like some advice please. I have a visit to a full blown airshow on my bucket list. With the following criteria; 1. A good variety of aircraft eg biplanes, props, jets, helos. 2. Not particularly interested in commercial aircraft 3. Not fussed if I don’t see the Red Arrows 4. Will be taking the wife so somewhere to park her will be required, appreciate a grandstand or enclosure seat will probably be needed at extra cost, Anyone got any experience of these? 5. I guess traffic to and from car parks could be an issue subject to timing are some better organised than others? TIA P
  9. Can’t seem to find any paint masks for the above on line. Arrived at my google pain threshold. Is this a re-box of the Italeri kit? Any help or advice much appreciated. P

    Paintbrushes

This may be of help if anyone is still looking for brushes I have been using some Rosemary & Co kolinsky sable brushes as a result of reading this thread for a couple of months now. Sizes 3, 1 2/0 & 10/0 Good for acrylics and OK for thin enamel, they hold paint well and have kept the points so far, though don’t have a lot of spring but you can control them well. Don’t use them for dry brushing or anywhere you may be working paint into tiny places etc, you will probably ruin them. I also use W&N one stroke flats, OK for me. Also used a Humbrol green handle flat that is OK. W&N Sceptre golds are also worth a try, sable/synthetic hairs I’m still to settle on my ideal enamel brushes, I have used Pro Art prolene synthetics in larger sizes so may try these. Synthetics seem to have stiffer bristles. Ken Bromley was mentioned as a supplier, I have used them for watercolour painting supplies, plenty of choice and good service.
  12. Give Oxonians Plastic Fantastic a call. I bought a Fujimi 1/72 Phantom FG1 at Yeovilton this year, almost certain it was from them, paid £15, they had several.
  13. Very nice model However........... 1/350 Leander’s, Type 21’s, Type 22’s and a County class GMD or two please Mr Airfix before you expend any effort on a kit of this ugly monster, yet to see if it floats, not really a ship yet!
