  1. Shame on all of you bagging Airfix in these financially troubling times for Hornby! May not be too late to write to Airfix and ask for a war time option (they could package it as a series 3 or 4 kit with the extra decal options?) Swedish Spit sounds good to me (especially as a dogfight double with a Soviet Mig-15 new tool of course!)
  2. Yes thats the one Dave (my second Victor Hattons refused to ship by Royal Mail so I cancelled it and refunded but out of pocket a few quid), this one that arrived was supposed oversize for Royal Mail so it should have been returned to Sender or not accepted at post office, also supposed very slow as surface shipping option chosen for 9 quid at the time, but arrives in 3 weeks! Slight downer was on opening the package, kit box had taken a hit and was partially deformed (caved in) at bottom not a great deal but enough to take the shine off the occasion! Also on opening the kit box I noticed sure enough that there was at least 10 cm (maybe more) to spare on the horizontal longest side of the kit box that was just empty space, again as mentioned before I wish Airfix would take into consideration kit box dimensions as in these cases empty space (extra length) can cause some grief to us overseas customers with Royal Mail limits and postage charges - but marketing is marketing and apparently people will feel more justified in dishing out more quid for an extra mega impressive box size, if you have a look at the Airfix B-17G kit box it even worse with the amount of empty space - I think with that kit you could probably fit in the 2 kits worth of sprue in the one box! Re if I win lottery - I think I could do better than just a Victor kit bash for mates, might have to be an all 2017 Airfix new tool release kit bash + Victor kit bash for good measure! Cheers
  3. Yes I was in a state of panic as I had none (V-1s) in the stash apart from the old Frog rendition so I I bought the last 2 Loon's that Hannants had left - I wish Mac would re-release their V1 kit as they are very hard to find - I could find none for sale yesterday, and I am not buying the Modelcollect just yet!
  4. Some good news for me - my Airfix Victor Flight finally arrived from Hattons today and just before year's end too - in fact so lucky was I feeling that I bought a lottery ticket for the Lotto 31 Million new years draw just in case!
  5. Personally - I like this one with a bit of scratch building (with Airfix for the B-17) Go on Airfix give us a gift set release with these next year!!
  6. Yes - CMK have released the AS-12 missiles separately (they look really neat BTW) so either the Wasp is nearing completion (which is good news) or they will be releasing all the Wasp parts separately like the build a "model with magazine" each month you get a few parts with each magazine until you have collected all the parts, except in this case there will be no magazine (in which case that may not be such good news). Lately I have lost all hope that Airfix will come out with one in 1/72 as they seem to be concentrating on the larger kits where presumably there is more profit margin? Eg not one new tool kit in series 1 or 2 next year for Airfix. I would not mind even if they came out with it in series 6 (and it only had parts for a series 2 like their Me262 but boxed in a series 3) as long as they produced it...
  7. No luck with my kit, Heinkel H6 arrived which was purchased same time as the Victor though - go figure! Never knew the Warsaw Pact air defences were so tough - first Victor shot down, second Victor missing in action! Ah well, anyway I think I have bought more Airfix kits this year than ever before - starting to have "stash storage shortage" issues! At least I did my bit to keep Airfix afloat for the past year! Pleased to hear your Victor flight wasn't shot down so far just delayed!
  8. Well Hattons have listed a single Airfix Victor for sale - so its either Dave's, mine or some other unfortunate soul's Ah well Merry Christmas
  9. Well of course I am - firstly it is not Airfix, secondly Modelcollect are not in financial trouble like Hornby that we know of - so it is open season! No seriously, all I am saying is do not get too excited!
  10. I recently bought their 1/72 Bo 105 Iraqi release - unfortunately they appear to have very little quality control, some parts were deformed and the box art was printed so dark you could hardly see what the subject was - money thrown away if you buy that kit
  11. Do not get too excited about these Modelcollect releases - having a look at the photos of their V1 Flying bomb in 1/72 - (if the same research team is responsible for all their aircraft related products) it will be a Mickey Mouse release (something that vaguely resembles the aircraft but is so inaccurate to scale that it is not worth acquiring) a cartoon rendition if you will!
  12. How dare you criticise Airfix when Hornby are in financial trouble! You should go on and buy as much of their stock (at any price) as possible to support them!
  13. Never seen a B-25 with RATO until now - anyone have any info on this picture was it just trialled or used operationally? Or are these captured German rockets being trialled??/
  14. "Help Save Hornby" Donation Fund Now Up and Running, from now on we will have no criticism of Airfix on this forum! Anyone that criticises Airfix for raising prices or packaging series 2 kits as series 3 or 4 kits and so forth will be pronounced a Heretic and expelled from our Forum Order! Long Live Airfix and our Order!
  15. If Series 3 is correct - that would be a another stealth price increase by Airfix as looking at the sprue the kit only has 65 parts which is series 2 territory. Airfix are turning more into the Christmas Grinch?
  16. Is this an RAF type bomb trolley pressed into USAAF service or some American type of bomb trolley? Looks a little like an RAF Type F to me that Airfix have in their RAF Bomber Re-supply set? Also what type of bomb is the crewman holding on the left is that a 100lb bomb?
  17. Not an easy subject this - will have to do some extensive research!
  18. Uncle Dick observes 65 parts all together which puts it squarely in series 2 kit territory - so expect a 10 quid price (if they don't hike prices again) with 2 aircraft options on the decals. A pity workbench did not mention that those lovely Jumo jet engines only had an average life span of 25 hours with a major overhaul required after 10 hours due to the material scarcity late in the war! Anyway looks like a good release - but as I said before where are the series 1, 2, 3 and 4 new tool releases; so far we have only one series 2 kit for 2017 which is new tool... (just saying like)!
  19. Are the canopy detonation chord patterns the same on all the Harrier GR1, AV-8A, C, S, GR3 variants or are there differences between variants to account for different ejector seats preferred by each operator and or other factors? I take it the Sea Harrier Frs1 and 2 Det Chords were different to that of the above Harriers mentioned as for a start I think the canopy shapes were different (or am i mistaken - were the canopies the same on the Sea Harrier and GR1, GR3)? What about the later AV-8B, +, GR5, GR7, GR9 variants were their Det chord patterns the same as the AV-8B Not many good photos to out there to compare?
  20. Probably boxed as a series 2 kit? All the rest of their 2017 new tool releases so far have been series 5 and above Mustang Series 5 Phantom Series 6 Sea Fury Series 6 Walrus Series 9 Might be a new trend to shift away from smaller kits?
  21. No problems - Airfix can include a pair of Sharks as well Tiger, Great White? with decals! And the super rare 1 in 100 boxing with the sole Stuka supplied to Japan (not sure of variant though) and Chinese Nationalist Gladiator!
  22. I agree - they could have made it more interesting for the Gladiator fans as well in this release (with the Stuka R2 exclusive parts), by having exclusive parts for a Sea Gladiator! Namely 3 bladed prop, hook and any other parts required + decals, and since we are on the topic of exclusive parts; a pair of luckless downed Stuka crew figures in 2 different poses in a dinghy as an extra treat for the modeller. And for purely marketing (a bit like the extra treat in the Kellogs Corn Flakes of days old) purposes 1/5 of all the kit boxes to have a downed Sea Gladiator pilot in a dinghy instead of the hapless downed Stuka crew and dingy! With the pilot figures and dinghies being correct for each respective aircraft type - no skimping on accuracy! And 1/20 kit boxes having the ultra exclusive Regia Aeronautica decals and crew with dinghy. Wrong scale and service but something like this - go on Airfix you know you want to!
  23. Oh No - the Cadbury Contagion has spread to the ROGue!
  24. Also have a look at how far the engine / exhaust module extends off the back end of the fuselage compared to the real thing or are there separate real life versions that have this feature???????? It looks as if they have placed the engine module to far back!
