  1. I should get the D-558-2 and X-1 done later this year Thanks
  2. Someone spent a long time polishing them to a high shine. See the 5th picture from the top here http://rocketumbl.tumblr.com/post/129160664370/amp Thanks
  3. Finished!! You can see more pictures at It was a lot of work, but well worth it, and it was a relatively quick build. Thanks all those who have watched, commented and helps with suggestions
  4. This is my 1/72 AZ Model's Douglas X-3 Stiletto. This is another kit that is not for the faint of heart or the easily discouraged and for more details on my trials and tribulations you can see my WIP entry at To summarize nothing that is supposed to go into the fuselage interior will fit and nothing on the right side of the fuselage lines up with the corresponding thing on left side. Including the canopy which is one piece. But it still built fairly quickly and I am happy with the outcome. So on to the pictures I am not sure why the canopy appears so cloudy in the pictures. It is not like that in real life. Here is a better view that also shows the small slit intakes I added ahead or the primary intakes; Next up is the newly remastered Anigrand Douglas XF5D-1 Enjoy
  5. Definitely not for the faint of heart or easily discouraged.
  6. Just a quick update. It only needed 1 coat of glass, so I did the decals this morning. I think that decals make the model . The decals were very thin but went on fairly well. So tomorrow I will give it a coat of Alclad Light Sheen, remove the masking, add the wheels and pitot tuba and it will be done
  7. I had to look up what chuffed meant 🙂, but I am Thanks
  8. I've seen worse, AKA Unicraft
  9. The only hurdle left is the decals. Finger crossed 🤞
  10. Major painting is complete. This may be sacrilege, but I decided that the white primer came out nice enough that it didn't need and over coat of white, so I went with it. The wings are Alclad Aluminum, the exhausts are Alclad Steel, and the lower tail is a mix of the 2. The white is an eggshell finish and I don't think it is glossy enough to take decals well so I am going to mask the wings and give it a couple coats of gloss. I should be able to decal by Friday. Back then.
  11. From here is should be easy, at least that's what I keep telling myself
  12. I have 2 of them, (don't ask why) and they both have the same asymmetries. I was thinking different people worked on each half. Good luck with it.
  13. Primed I am guessing it will probably require at least one more iteration of sanding and priming, but I think it looks pretty good . I won't bore you with the iterations so I'll be back when there is something more interesting to look at. I do want to thank all of you for inspiring me so far to make something better then I would have by myself.
  14. Agreed. I am only still working on it because I am too stubborn to give up.
  15. So major construction is complete! Not that there isn't still work to go, but all the main pieces are attached However looking at this picture I realized that the left right asymmetry expends to the canopy, even though it is a single piece , so I am going to have to redo the masking. Also on my punch list is to adjust the landing gear so it sits level and clean up the stabilizer. But I have suffered enough today and that will wait until tomorrow
  16. Looks like there is an emergency release handle on the hatch
  17. Actually turned out to be a lot easier then I thought. Just scraped along the base of the ramp with the back of a #11 blade. And I only stabbed myself in the thumb once.
  18. I was thinking of emulating it with a black decal stripe. I'll think about it
  19. I noticed that, but fixing it is above my skill level ☚ī¸
  20. Please do. It is good to share and any additional documentation is welcome.
  21. What do you think may be the issue here, hsr? It is just the asymmetry between the right and left side. They are not mirror images. The bend in the tail between the upper and lower halves where the stabilizer goes is higher on the right side then the left.
  22. There are several sprues in the box that are not listed in the instruction. These include a second set of the G engines and tail. Yes they are.
  23. Be careful with the canopy. It looks like mine went on a little crooked. We'll see what disaster happen when I go to install the landing gear.
  24. It was your inspiration 👌
  25. Hi Jean, Most of my helicopters are Italeri, but in general I don't like Italeri kits, so when I saw that there was a Hobby Boss alternative, I went for it. Hobby Boss tends to simplify things, and in this case the rotor was just too simple, but I still like them. I have the Fujimi AH-1J and I liked it, but they don't make a "B" and they seem to be unable to print white decals, white, rather then a cream color. 72-019 is the sheet I used. Like I said I have been happy with Print Scale decals in the past. Maybe it is just their newer printings that have a problem. Good luck with it Thanks
