  1. That’s awesome!!! Thank you David πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘
  2. OK...Update time...This post is photo heavy: Main Structure: Seats, no lapstraps at the Mo as they will be one of the last things fitted: Nav's Console: Pilot's Console, needs the HUD sorting and fitted: Nav Seat and Console dry fitted: Both Fitted: View from Rear: BOZ and ECM: 1500Ltr Drop Tanks: Thanks for looking, any suggestions, please let me know. Thanks, Zone.
  3. Update Time.... Front canopy masked and painted clear orange, why you ask, well let me tell you...The front canopy of a Tonka has a slight Orange colour to it, as they found that by putting a very thin layer of Gold between the layers of Glass, this was to reduce glare from the Sun. Before: After: Thanks for looking and look forward to comments. Cheers, Zone
  4. Here are some tests I have done: Clear: Before: After: As you can see, it creates a nice dome, but my mixture is a little stringy, that means it's too thick and needs a bit more thinners. Opaque: Before: After: So what do you guys think?
  5. One tip to save you a shed load of money...Washes, Pigments and Powders...Don't buy them!!! Got to Lidl (Or maybe Aldi) and purchase the Chalk Pastels...Or Oils, depends, they're about a Fiver, maybe a little more, but definitely under a tenner. To make pigments and powders, use your craft knife to shave off some of the chalk pastel, into a small container, then brush it on, as required. To make different colours, just mix and match the colours you need to make a required colour. Now for Washes, scrape a little chalk (Required Colour) into a small pot, add a little water, then, and importantly, a single (That's One) drop of Washing up liquid, and Voila!!! You're very own Wash. TBH, I've been doing this for ages, so I thought I would pass this along. If you have any tips for saving Β£'s pop your post up :)
  6. I've been doing some thinking...Jesus the Pain...Took my mind of my knee!!! Anyway, i'd just finished screaming my head off after dropping some thinners on a section of sprue!!! Which was dissolving rather rapidly....Ohhh...So I got a small jar, found an old sprue, snapped the sprue up and dropped it into the said Jar with Thinners from Lidl (See piccie below). ...'Well wiffle my old leather boots!!!' It melted the lot, as can be seen in the images...That's the one with grey liquid in it, and it can be used instead of those expensive fillers... I wonder (This is where the pain kicked in from thinking)...So I got an old Clear sprue (For Canopy's etc...) And look at the results...I still have to test it for filling between Canopies, but it will make nice landing lights, or lens's on an instrument panel etc... This works a treat!!!!!
  7. Ohh FFS!!! Schoolboy error I was busy reading the 30mm Aden Gun quote....
  8. Ok, the reason this has been on hold is the following: When I removed the filler I found this: No wonder I bottled it...Then I didn't have the confidence to attempt this so I just parked it...So 4 years later the I now have a lot more knowledge and Skills and Confidence to attempt this. Recently I have found that if you drop your old Sprue's into Thinners, they melt!!! Making AWESOME filler!!!! See Below: So all I need to do is let it dry, it takes about 24 hours to dry, then sand it back and shape the outlet Cheers, Zone
  9. I Don't think you will...Would have put too much onto the price, anyway, scratch building a set of forks for you, would be a doddle If we can get hold of the Original plans for them, then I can see what he would like to do.... I think this is to do with price, I will double check with him, but I think it would cost about Β£30 just for the wendy, but I'll double check and come back to you Try moving a 30mm Mauser Cannon on your own See above...I'll double check. πŸ‘
  10. Nearly 4 Years later and she is back on the Bench!!! Gutted I have lost all my images!!! 😫😫😫😫
  11. Long Time no posting...Well I'm back at the bench, mainly due to the fact I have had a replacement knee and life is very slow at the moment. But I need to keep my mind active rather than binge watching shows on TV or Netflix!! Any way, some might remember, that I was asking about a Type W Loader, more commonly known to the Armament Fraternity as a 'Wendy' (See Below), and if there was anyone who could build one, as I have the plans, but alas no one could help. This was the main work horse of the Armament Branch on RAF Squadrons, and I could find no one who had ever made one. I spoke with David at Flightpath, who was very helpful, but not willing to create this, but put me onto Neil at Aircraft in Miniature(AIM), who bit my hand off and has already created the CAD design for this (Below) and will be selling the Wendy through Hannants, in 1/72nd and and 1/32nd scale, not 48 or 24. They will be available for pre-order soon, and as soon as I know I will pop it on here, so get an alert set up if you'd like one. Below are some screen shots: Cheers, Zone
  12. They do quite a few....Have a look on Amazon
  13. AWESOME work so far, you too have plenty of talent there!!! Where you have the door goes through to the annex, where the houchins are kept then round to the Bowser...The Crew Cabin is between the door and the Tank racking
  14. Cheers Chris, I'm really enjoying doing this Thanks Ian...Really needed that comment about breaking whilst painting lol I'll be doing it very very gingerly!!! lol Yes I will be correcting the fuselage, I've already dry fitted the scarff and found it over hangs by about 0.5mm either side, so a little fettling will be carried out
  15. Update time... Lewis and Scarff done....I seriously need to improve my miniature skills there LOL...But I'll let myself off as it's only 2cm long!!! Time to move away from the office for a bit...The wing roots have a cut out on both sides...I've already removed the connecting part between the 2, and now for the cut out...In the mini vice ready for cutting. And there we go...Not too bad for Govt. work lol The front leading edge needs squaring up and I'll add a bit of plasticard to give it that extra space... That's all for now...Thanks for looking and comments welcome. Zone
  16. After much cursing and scrabbling around looking through old picture...Lots of giggling from Mrs Z and comments like 'Ohhh how much hair' and 'My weren't you slim'!!!! I found the picture I was looking for. This shows some of the part behind the cabin...Where the probe disappears is the very edge of the door between the annex and the hanger...The ducting goes over the door....Sorry Bar ...You can also see some GSE just below the nose, that is IIRC a jack for changing main wheels. Cheers, Zone.
  17. Another update on what I did last night....And what came today...YUMMY So last night I woz mostly cutting down the excess plastic for the Scarff ring...And I also found out that the scarf ring is about 1mm to wide...so a couple of pieces of plastic card on either side, blended in, should cure that issue.... I also received my PE Tool....Yummy...Not bad for Β£12 I got my delivery today at work...3 Packages...I guessed what 2 were but had forgotten about the 3rd lol...So in reverse order....Forgotten...Punches...1, 1.5 and 2mm Next...Various Micro-Drill bits...Ranging from small to stupidly infinitesimally small!!!! And finally...The one I have been waiting for....Daaa Daaa!!!! It's not a very big book, only 40 pages, but the info in there is amazing!!!! Thanks for Looking... Cheers, Zone
  18. Nice work...Liking it...Here's one for you...You can't see it, but the ducting starts about 1/2 the way down, just under the 1500 Drop Tanks (DT) It's about half the size of what you have, IIRC. Then it increases in size to the same size as yours about 3/4 of the way down...I'll try to get some pictures And as you can see...3 Tonka's in a 3rd Gen HAS On the right, you'd crank, by hand, the orange bar upto the right height, climb the ladders and slide the Drop Tank onto it...Then crank it back down again. The blue thing by the DT Storage is a practice JP233...Dark Blue and HUGE White letters that say 'NOT FOR FLIGHT'(But not for Tomb's). Left hand side is a COSHH Locker...We didn't keep cans of Hyd Oil and Eng Oil in there...They were by the HAS Cabin, behind the DT Storage as it was too far to walk to get them Hope this helps... Zone
  19. Tell me about it!!! It's Mad...But by God is is satisfying when it comes together The Vickers is going to be a peice of cake
  20. Ok Gents, as per your suggestions....Seat and column are looking soooooooo much better, thanks for the tips guys I looked at the rudder bar, but it's too well glued and I didn't fancy doing the office again...Yes I know it's good practice but Mrs Z needs some attention too So apart from the office, I've been doing some work on the Lewis and Scarff...OMFG!!! Thank God I have a magnify light!!!! (Is that a real name? You know what I mean....A light that has a built in magnifying glass) Here are the twin Lewis on the Scarff ring.... Now the fun part!!! Taking the sights off the fret....JHC How small!!!! I picked up a good tip from the guys at MiniWorld, they said to put the Etch onto some tape, so I used 6mm Tamiya masking tape...Cracking idea guys So I have cut out the rear sight...My Eyes, My Eyes...They are bleeding through strain!!! Or is that just old age? I had test fitted the rear sight and found the guns were too far apart, I did test before adding the guns to the gun mount...They were butted up as close as they would go. So back on the tape they go, and I would remove the crescent shapes, and then rest it on the barrels....So on the tape it is...One bit gone...Cool...Goes through the second bit and the sight, well...Lets just say it's not in sight anymore!!! But luckily they supply you with several different sights...So the rear and front sights are now fitted Yaaaa Me!!! So there is my update for this evening. Thanks for looking and please add comments, all suggestions gratefully received Zone
