Northrop F-5F IRIAF (1/48 AFV Club)
vesthepes replied to Seversky's topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
Excellent work, will follow this one closely... Don't mean to be rude or picky but please check your ref though. I believe the F version only has a portside cannon cheers -
Thanks Ex. Yes, I plan to arm it with four UB-16 launchers on the under-wing pylons and two fuel tanks on the belly. That was supposed to be one of the Ramadan war configurations...

The Fitter is on its feet. Still a lot of details to work on. The exhaust, canopy, armament, pito tube, and so on... Here's a few shots: thanks for looking in

Thanks chaps.

Thanks a lot for you comments Well, actually it is. The next version after and including J-8II D with a refueling probe received a light grey paint job

Hi chaps This is a 1:48 Trumpeter kit with an addition of Dreammodels PE. It represents a PLAAF high altitude, high speed interceptor which collided in mid air with a USN EP-3 over the South China Sea. It is armed with a pair of PL-8 pythons. The build was a a part of ARC's Far Out, Far East GB. For more photos and info please check http://militaryaviation148.blogspot.si/2016/08/j-8ii-plaaf-81192.html Thanks for looking in

Back with some work done: cheers

Thanks chaps I quite like AKAN paints. I mix them with Gunze Mr. Color thinner and it works great... The underside color is supposed to be for Su-15/22/25/27 maybe not totally on spot, but there is no solid reference anyway I guess... Yup, Armory wheels ... modelsUA is the place if you're looking for good deals Not so sure.., actually they look the same as Kopro ones, but metal.. they seem to be the same for Su-7 and Su-17/22... not sure if that's OK.. They come in both versions for the Su-7 ... BMK and BKL with skids.

Thanks Ant, I appreciate your comment. OK, here we go... The beast is "almost" ready for painting and partially it already is... In this stage I usually go back and forth with painting and adding details... some basic pre-shading... adding detail to wing fences... partially painted underside using AKAN paint... PE air brakes wheels & landing gear Thanks for looking in... cheers

vesthepes replied to exdraken's topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
Duh, I don't know why, but I guess you have to register to see the work in progress pics? If I log out I can't find the link... Try registering here http://makete.si/profile.php?mode=register&sid=2052166b3e325d6f845f41e359eaeae6 and retry the previous link, shouldn't be too hard...- 59 replies

Visitors at Warsaw Pact & neutral air bases?
vesthepes replied to Mountain goat's topic in Aircraft Cold War
Yes you are correct, it was 1954. Back then Yugoslav AF was equipped with F-84Gs and T-33s. The F-86Es started arriving in 1956. Regarding the IrAF MiG-23s, Iraq with Maliki was trying to get them back, but I am not sure what went on after that. I know Serbs moved the assembled one from the museum to the Batajnica airport when Iraqis were visiting a few years back. I believe it is still there.. The Iraqis sent 19 MiGs in 1989 to VZ Zmaj near Zagreb. It is said it was 8 MiG-23s in crates and that one was assembled (#23252) and overhauled for testing. It was flown by a JRV test pilot Omer AvdakoviΔ and visited a few ABs in Yugoslavia. When the hostilities started in '91, all of them were quickly transported from Zagreb to Belgrade by land, while the 23252 took a flight. AFAIK Croatians claim they were "stolen" from them in 91, and that the company VZ Zmaj was deprived for 35mil.$ deal. Well, at least that's what they said in the papers... Here are some photos of the MiG being moved http://www.paluba.info/smf/index.php/topic,6062.0.html- 44 replies

Visitors at Warsaw Pact & neutral air bases?
vesthepes replied to Mountain goat's topic in Aircraft Cold War
Wasn't WarPac but I know RAF Canberras from the 27th sqd visited Yugoslavia (have a photo somewhere) and so did many others. But in many cases it was like Bonehammer mentioned, the overhauls... Besides the noted countries, the Sudanese also overhauled their MiG-21s at VZ Zmaj in Zagreb, so here's a visit...- 44 replies

To continue where I left off. I've joined the fuselage halves and did some work on the wheel wells. I had to tear apart the PE parts in the wells as it was impossible to join the top and bottom wings with fuselage with perfect alignment of the ribs inside the wells.. there is still a few big gaps inside the wells. Those need filled properly before applying any new PE parts

Great idea of a build. I'd be in for sure. I have one KP in 1:48 with lots of aftermarket, plus the tandem Masterline re-pop... Would do something exotic definitely... CΓ΄te d'Ivoire shrakmouth has been on mind for quite some time....

Congrats chaps, winners or not, the builds were fantastic with a gallery full of greatly finished models. Thanks to everyone, from the guys organizing, the britmodeller, Hi-decals and everyone building, commenting and liking and finally voting.. members on this forum are known for being friendly and helpful. That's why I like it so much. This GB represents all that. It was one of the best GBs I ever participated in. Thanks again lads. Vasko

Thanks a lot chaps, for your interest and comments, I like the Harvard too but I must admit I am not the most familiar with it. I'm picking up the info along the way... Artie thanks for the heads up. The cowling does look a bit too square. I just doubt I'll get a chance of acquiring a monogram one. Maybe some reshaping with sand paper? The PE cockpit is a nerve wrecker. So many tiny parts to bend and then cramp it up in a small tub... OK let's get to the pictures.... and the new wheel bay ΕΎ and the riveting starts... till next time... cheers

Awesome GB, great models in the gallery... but choosing one out of so many...uhhh
-
Great news. Have this one in the stash for some time now... If I may, I'll join you with an E or F, Libyan raider, haven't decided for sure yet. cheers

Thanks a lot lads, I am glad you like it...
