Scratch build Project - first ever kitbash
Misrule replied to Madhatter's topic in Work In Progress - SF & RealSpace
The U-Boat is an excellent idea, that's going to give some very nice lines Reminds of those Star Wars frigates that had a bunch of upside down ship hulls glued together and bodged, offers some great shapes but nothing easily recognisable It should probably have a ton of guns on but I suppose civvies need to get around too -

Cheers Might have gone a bit OTT on the blue fellow, but all a learning experience, pick up techniques for the next one These Bandai kits have spoiled me a bit though, built something that needed glue last week and for a minute I had no idea what to do -

Yeah that's the one, all CGI Few years old by now I think but quite decent I think -
One of the Japanese hobby fairs a couple of months ago had a Bandai 1/72 Falcon previewed, the ep-IV version I think, so there might be an alternative in the future if they ever make it to production. Not confirmed yet but they did the same thing with the bigger Yamato kits, made a prototype, saw what the reaction was, then put it into production when enough people said they wanted it. Fingers crossed

Couple more fellows for the shelf These chaps are old school Gundam badguys, the blue Gouf Custom from 8th MS team and the White Ogre from MS Igloo Not really a huge fan of the Zeon designs honestly, but these guys are classics Both are supposed to be a bit worn out at the end of their supply lines or stuck in the field, especially the White Ogre who is too busy shooting poor little tanks to get his paint touched up The blue Gouf is the personal ride of an ace pilot by the name of Norris Packard who does a very good job of making the heroes of the 8th MS Team look like rank amateurs, very good combat scene The Gouf is an older kit and takes a bit of work, I can see some gaps now on these pictures and its main limb joints are held by screws rather than polycaps, though given the weight of the giant cannon that turns out to be a good thing! The Zaku was much easier, interesting to compare how Bandai evolve these kits over the years. Got a couple more in the stash to have a try, one with the amazing name of Gelgoog which I assume is something terrifying in their language Keep me busy until the next batch of Yamato kits show up -
Bit of behind the scenes and new stuff for the film Quite like where this is heading

Thats a good looking design, Macross monster meets Command and Conquer with a bit of mechwarrior chucked in I'd agree some sort of disruptive or hard angled camouflage is the way to go, you probably aren't going to be hiding something that big and it looks like its built for long range combat so a bit of dazzle will look very nice and logical. I'm sort of thinking this thing would look good off world, one of the arguments against mechs is how cumbersome they are, but if you are on the Moon or Mars with less gravity these things suddenly become much easier to operate. I can definitely see this thing in a sort of grey and white scheme standing in a wrecked moon base, or red and brown for Mars maybe. Either way, really liking the design

Detailing Revell's Sith Infiltrator (06677)
Misrule replied to Mike's topic in Work In Progress - SF & RealSpace
some nice hi-rez images here https://www.artstation.com/artwork/Z01Ww its fan work but looks pretty solid to me -
It's a pretty good one to start with, that giant gatling gun makes it look the business You can see it in action a bit here.. Might help with colours too, though with it being 20 something years old animation maybe not

Venator class Attack Cruiser

Always thought the gunships were a good design, very rough and ready aircraft that looked like they meant business -

Love the detail on the thrusters, and its fun trying to figure out where all the extra details come from just like on the real studio models -
Couple of pics over here http://www.taghobby.com/uncategorized/%E4%B8%8D%E6%96%B7%E6%9B%B4%E6%96%B0-2016%E5%B9%B45%E6%9C%8812%E6%97%A55%E6%9C%8815%E6%97%A5-%E9%9D%9C%E5%B2%A1hobby-show-2016-bandai%E5%B1%95%E5%93%81-macross%E6%A8%A1%E5%9E%8B/ No expert on the show itself, but like the plane designs

Pretty decent size on that A-Wing, pleasantly surprised. And while not SW, those Macross fighter jets look superb, that blue and gold Drakken style one especially

It's the big Shizouka hobby show this week so hopefully we'll get some nice information on future projects

I usually take a look at this site http://www.taghobby.com/ got all sorts of stuff on Japanese hobby releases

Next Bandai kit is a TIE Interceptor in 1/72, nice

I reckon the carriers mainly work on rule of cool It'd probably be safer to launch from a covered hangar bay but I suppose an open deck allows you to launch and land more quickly, The Yamato and the other Earth ships launch fighters from an internal bay, drop them off on catapults which is probably safer, but you can only launch and recover one plane at a time and it takes quite a while to get them all out. These old style flat tops though can launch and recover planes simultaneously and in larger numbers, lets them keep a nice steady stream of craft in the fight as they launch, recover, rearm, then launch again. That'd be much harder to do with an armoured bay like the Earth ships have. Course the pay off is vulnerability, those big flat decks are nice targets! But in theory these ships should be way back off the front lines safe and sound. Well, in theory Something like a battlestar with its big hangar bays would be the best of both worlds, but these Yamato ships are pretty small by sci-fi standards, even the biggest nastiest ship in the show would be smaller than a single pod on Galactica Just have to make do with what they can make work Or it just looks cool and reflects the WWII in space the animators wanted

Real Grades are rather impressive, some of the smaller bits are very fiddly but the fact they go together with no glue (Well, my attempt did at least ) and have such flexibility is amazing. Not quite enough to make me give up 1/100 MG kits, but almost Just need Bandai to bring those after market decals back to replace the stickers.

Looks very spiffy, and is that Falcon fighter I spy? nice
-
I like the look of that Bit disappointed in EpVII but this looks a lot more interesting, less mystery and moping, more making things explode The Imperial Hover Tank looks interesting, and in the behind the scenes photos there is a Black X-Wing. Pretty nice
-
Just need to find one for a good price I thought they'd get re-issued after the film but no such luck! Looking forward to how this one shapes up, I haven't seen anyone try this design so very curious
-
The big Wasp Carrier Was wondering if you'd have a go at this one, quite a different look and design from the other ships in the range, quite a bit more alien I think though it still has all those grills and fins I'd expect to see this ship on screen again at the end of the year, probably going to be more of these ships on the shelves to fill out the Gatlantis fleet, and hopefully some new Earth ships to counter them Paying close attention to that hangar deck, looks great considering the scale
