This looks really good.

Would this blue color have been readily available where this aircraft was stationed? Would it be a RAF color or a USAAF color?

That's it, I can't handle 1:72 any more!

I am having the same problems with 1/72 scale. Fingers are not as nimble as they once were and I cant work on anything without my Opti-visor. -
Here it is again with the wheels on the right way.

They looked great, but they took so long to complete and the level of enjoyment was low due to all the work involved. Wish I still had them. I only completed a few. When I started the Academy P-51B, I wanted to see if I would be contented with a "straight out of box" project. I filled and sanded the seams, but traces are still visible. I did not restore lost surface details or replace the gun barrels with metal tubing or add brake lines or an antenna wire. The results are very imperfect, but I enjoyed the build. Next up will be either the Revell 1/72 Mig-21F-13 or the Airfix Lightning F2. Haven't decided yet.

Okay folks. I managed to get the parts to come off and I have reattached them in the correct location. Glad I didn't use super glue.

Oh FUDGE!!! Now I see it. Oh well. Live and learn. I'm handling this very well because its still in one piece.

I used Aero Master sheet 72-177, S.E. Asia Mustangs. This was the Aircraft of Capt. Forrest "Pappy" Parham. Are you sure about the landing gear being wrong? I cant fix it now.

Looks like its been through the war. Nice job. -
I primed the model first with Vallejo Black Surface Primer 73.602. I think this helped because the Aluminum did not lift off. I also believe that silver finishes look better applied over black. Also I gave each coat plenty of drying time, Several days worth.

Vallejo Paints were used through out. The color is Model Air 71.062 Aluminum followed with a coat of their Satin Varnish. I like the results. I honestly do not like polished metal finishes much. They just do not look real to me for some reason.

Fine looking Model. -
This may be my one and only attempt at using a "Sludge Wash" to highlight the surface details due to some staining that I could not remove.

Here is something that I never thought I would be posting. A completed model. It is the Academy P-51B Mustang. Built straight from the box with the exception of seat belts made from tape. I took a "relaxed" attitude with this kit. Despite the many flaws, I am very happy with the result.

Who Cares.

Since Revell issued the Thunderstick -105 I have been wondering. Did they modify the existing -105D molds for the new fuselage? If so does this mean the original non Thunderstick kit is no more? I sure hope not.

Great Job. -
A while back I posted what I thought might be some helpful observations on adhesion problems with acrylic paints. Mainly with Testors brand which seems to be the only available American made brand. I had experimented with a couple colors, mainly Zinc Chromate Green and a dark gray, and they seemed to work fine used straight from the bottle with my Paasche H1. However..... Further trials using a new bottle of Light Gull Gray yielded really bad results. So I will say that it is best to prime the surface first, or else don't use Testors Acryl. Sorry for the misinformation.
