  1. It's been over 4 years but I've finally tracked down the photo...
  2. Thanks everyone. It's a lovely kit to build too. Also, it's a bit random but I took those photos in the bath - it gives a nice pure white background and a regular smooth gradient. Plus it reflects the light nicely. Recommended!
  3. Wildcat JV579 "That old thing" flown by my grandfather, Sub Lt. Guy Williams from HMS Trumpeter,VE Day 1945. Kit was straight out of the box from Trumpeter with a few bits added like brake lines (fuse wire), seat belts (masking tape / fuse wire), aerials (ez-line) and wing fold details (stretched sprue). I also convinced Revell to send me the decals from their wildcat as I couldn't find FAA decals in 1:32 anywhere. I almost bought the kit for the decals alone but thankfully didn't have to - a few white lies to their customer support in Germany did the job. Paints were xtracolour gloss enamel for the top and revell for the underside finished with humbrol mattcote. Weathering was done with a combination of watercolour and pastels.
  4. I'll give that a go, it's quite thin so it might work
  5. I'm very close to finishing my 1:32 Trumpeter Wildcat and just dry fitting the canopy I found that it doesn't fit very well when it's shown in the open position. It's fine closed but I've put a lot of effort into the cockpit and want to show it off! Any tips to make it fit? There doesn't seem to be a 3rd party vacform alternative and I really don't fancy making my own.
  6. My grandfather actually flew that wildcat in WW2 although sadly I found out very little about that actual aircraft before he died a few years ago. Currently making the 1:32 trumpeter version of that plane.
