  1. Nice work on your first blitzbuild! Unfortunately I didn't have the long weekend to join this one but hopefully we can meet again in the next one! Looks like you have plenty of other options for that one too.
  2. Very nice! IIRC there was a very nice rendition of this built in BM in the GB in the last few years and it's really a "different looking" lank. Very much looks like a tank that's been taking keto diet and intermittent fasting far too seriously. A very interesting subject!
  3. Perhaps if your gloss is appearing matt you aren't getting enough on. I use Mr Color also and thin around 70% thinner then lay on a mist coat and then quite a wet coat. But I agree it doesn't need the gloss finish in this case.
  4. Im in awe amd very much inspired to attempt something like this. One day...
  5. Well, I will have no excuses if this one doesn't make the gallery. I fixed all the tiny parts on today after a clean up of seam lines. And primed... Then for final spray of the day got the white on the upper wing surfaces. Now just to mask these and paint the main grey colour. I'll paint it a much lighter grey than the true FS colour to try and give it a scale effect. I think it won't look as good in very dark grey.
  6. Still moving ahead with this. Not a bad kit but not a shake and bake either. I keep finding imperfections along the lines you can see below so now it's hopefully the last filler but I will need to rescribe () as I've lost a lot of detail from the persistent sanding. There is still a fair chance this can make the gallery but I'm not even onto the splinter yet as has been pointed out! I've also been working on this (made a cameo earlier in this thread) to try and build up my 1/72 skills and while it's not as rewarding as 1/48 it certainly progressed a lot faster! A LOT more fiddly though.
  7. Calling this one done! 1/700 Tamiya USS Saratoga CV-3 Build thread here:
  8. That is a very impressive model! I hope you have a nice mantlepeice you can put it on.
  9. Hi exdraken, I primed today and a lot more sanding and a little more filling required unfortunately before I get on to the splinter. I know the camo will hide a lot of the imperfections but it's just a little too rough at the moment. There is hope for sure though of getting it done in time if I get a few more good weekends in. I did prime all my shelf of doom kits today however and the 4 year old Tamiya F-16 has 'piqued' my interest after a coat of primer ....
  10. Hi Chris it's going to be dark grey USAF with white top wings.
  11. Thanks Sam! Yes I've finally worked on it tonight and it's ready for primer! All other parts cut off and landing gear assembled too. I also picked these up during recent trip, sorry, pilgrimage, to aviation megastore in NL. I will have to manually mask the nose but it's gonna save me a little time compared to a full manual mask job. I also picked up some Ukrainian Foxbot decals and masks for my 1/48 Mig-29. Unfortunately I didn't notice they are 1/32 😐. Seems like I have a 1/32 Mig-29 in my future. 😀 Now where did I put those eduard canopy masks....
  12. I think this is the first time I'm entering two builds in a single GB! I picked this up at aviation megastore on my recent NL trip. I'd always thought this aircraft looks very cool and so chose this over the other options they had. The front reminds me of the Aliens movie! Not too many parts! Should be easier to finish than the Viggen (which also has progressed tonight!) Fuselage together. Pretty good fit I would say. And what a wingspan! This would be insane in 1/72 or 1/48! Not sure if anyone does a kit of it.
  13. Very nice work. Making me feel a little guilty about leaving all the foibles in my larger version!
  14. I guess the windows will be fitted from outside or are they in there?
  15. Very nice! I wish I bought one of these when I had the chance.
  16. I only now appreciated the miniature size of this when I saw the photo with the humbrol tin! It's amazing the neatness and detail you have managed in such a tiny model.
  17. This looks great Tim! Certainly living up to your name!
  18. Nice save and for sure the painted triangles are better than decals.
