  1. Thanks for the mention guys! It might seem expensive but suprisingly a little can go an awful long way.. The trick is to use it sparingly, or build up your landscape a smuch as possible beofre creating drifts and similar effects. Because our material has scale weight, it will settle beneath and between grasses etc. Like in this 1/76th Orchard and with more cover........... Or will settle on top of grasses and foliage........ It all depends on how you use it, but at this level of cover the cost should not be an issue and you could treat countless dio's with one bag of refill 115g's Remember the material is only limited by the imagination of the user and is interactive and intuitive to use with as many adhesives and scenarios you care to mention.
  2. Thanks for that Rob.. Since you posted this we have increased our range of products to include different gardes of snow. Also we now produce Winter Camo paint which can be applied to both Armour and Aircraft to reproduce field applied white paintwork which can be gradually removed to expose paintwork, insignia beneath. Also we have extended and improved our ice sheet products and have added water of various hues to our expanding range of materials. See here! http://www.precisioniceandsnow.com/products.html
  3. Thank you for writing this review and sorry it has taken so long to reply to it. We have limited resources and time seems to be the most precious commodity! Since you wrote this review, we have increased our product range substantially and have improved the blending and manufacture of all of our products. This is an ongoing process. We are proud that 85% of our sales are exported across the world from the UK. We have distributors in the United States, Germany, the Netherlands and soon- Canada. Therfore we are always grateful for enthusiastic words about our materials. So thank you Britmodeller for your kind words in support of a British company which 'also' exports much of its products to countries within the Arctic Circle. (The literal Coals to Newcastle!) We have improved our kit which now includes our popular 'Winter Wash'. A simple but effective material which allows for the precise and gradual build of fine detailed snow effects at small scales. Cheers..Thanks for looking.............Steve. Our NEW kit A very snowy T-34 which is seen here with our 'Broken Ice Sheet'- 'Water'- and other materials. A not so snowy Leopard with excellent use of water and melted- powder snow effects And finally..............Our range of compliant and safe water's for all modellers.
  4. Glad you liked our images. Please check out our website for more info. You can imprint our stuff to, either when it has set, or when it is wet. Great fun, but for the serious modeller if you see what I mean
  5. Our Tiger was just a pre-made item just to act as a canvas for our products. With all due respect to the modellers here, we would never knowingly try to pass off our simplistic models as 'the real deal' Unless stated because we are aware of the exemplary standards shown here in Britmodeller. We produce various models for test's, some better, or some worse than each other. Our focus is on our product rather than the model, though that can vary with external contributions. We will seek to improve the quality of our model depictions in the near future.
  6. The rule was simply there to show the scale. We were not measuring snow. Fantastic Diorama, well executed and everything and we are glad you know all about our snow from other threads.
  7. Life is too short to get things wrong! and anyway we were showing the scale not the size of the snowflakes, though we can do that if you want here in 1/35th scale
  8. Hi, The barbed wire was sprayed directionally at a low angle to represent blizzard. I think I used photo mount which is very fine and clear. So, I sprayed a few coats 2-3 seconds applying the Krycell directionally also between coats, tapping and blowing to remove excess. Then after four coats of photo mount adhesive used snow it looked like this... After all those applications, on the wire I had the seeds and the start of frost deposits. I like frost, and I like frost at this scale on wire. However, after doing the frost test, I wanted to go further and build faster. Hairspray is brilliant because it builds quickly and evenly, alternating between apllications of spray 2-3 seconds and the applications of Krycell powder I soon started to achieve thicker layers. Not only on the wire, but also over the bricks and debris to on the floor. Thicker........................ And thicker still................................... And finally!!!!! The initial coats of PhotoMount type adhesive are great if you want to spend forever getting super-fine builds but when you move into things like hairspray, things really take off quickly. The first coat of PhotoMount is quite useful as well because it creates a good key for the later heavier layers. This pictures are of imprinted snow built up in less than 3 minutes using hairspray. Hope that is of some use to you, Cheers Steve
  9. Thanks, the tank is just a pre-assembled test piece. We use so many that we have to. If I'm lucky I get the chance to actually build something, to test on which is much more satisfying.
  10. The overall look is redolant of in theatre painting. Very nice!
  11. Fantastic Job Tango, I am going to have to light the fire now! If it is of interest to you, we make a range of purpose made Snow and Ice effects. Please find us at http://www.precisioniceandsnow.com/ We produce materials that are capable of producing stunning effects of Snow and Ice at all scales 1/178th up to 1/16th. I have enclosed some pictures and a nice video which may be of some interest to you. Very best wishes, Steve.
  12. Very effective paint distressing and the touches of rust are magic. Just the icing on the cake!
  13. Fantastic weathering on that Stalwart, looks like the limestone off sailsbury Plain!
  14. Ha, ha, some of our images make us feel chilly too, I'm going to light our fire soon Love that plane by the way, lovely soot and stains from the exhaust.............
  15. Billybookcase! Very nice Dio! So impressed, I thought you might be interested in the following. Increasingly, our designed and purpose made products are being used by the finest modellers in the world! We manufacture a range of products which out-perform other products (including baking soda etc) so you might consider checking out our website. http://www.precisioniceandsnow.com/ http://s793.photobucket.com/user/stevengmccarron/library/?sort=3&page=1 The advantages of our Krycell powders for Snow and Ice effects are many, but the fact that they can be scaled by application between 1/178th up to 1/35th is pretty useful. Also, Krycell powders have the correct scale sparkle and sparkle colour. The powder is non- soluble and is not hydroscopic. It is a heavy product and so it mimics the weight of real snow on frail and bendable items such as wires and branches and leaves etc. We also manufacture different grades of Krycell powder and pre-cast, layered and tinted scale ice sheets. In this picture, There is Krycell Fine in the center, to the left, baking soda and to the right Bicarbonate of soda. It can be seen how much more granular the two baking products are. The Krycell will not spread out into individual grains like the baking products. Which is why it builds realisticly and locks together to grow into lifelike frost and snow products. even on clear plastic windscreens and cowels at small scales it can be applied to a particle thickness without particles being apparent! Also, krycell does not have that over inflated fluffy look. Also the colour of Krycell powders are closer to that of natural snow and are not 'to white, or bluey white like Bicarbonate and other products. Once again, great work, I just thought that you might be interested in some products that could enhance your future projects. also, we are offering an exclusive discount to members of Britmodeller .

  18. Very Nice, and if you want to add some frost to all of this you can without losing your detail. We are also offering exclusive discounts on our products to Britmodeller subscribers! The model and Dio we used is not a patch on yours, but it demonstrates what is possible with our products.
  19. Very nice and as Rob says, nice directional snowfall. Here are some images of hairspray applied directional snowfall at 1/76th to show you what happens with more coats usiong hairspray as an adhesive. Well done Jabberwocky, in future and exclusively we are offering discounts for Britmodellers on all of our products!
  20. Hi there, it all looks very good, however, it may be worth checking out our products. The reason that I say this, is because if you get one of our snow particles on the finger of a 1/35th soldier, it will look in scale. Look at the 1/35th images of the barbed wire particulary and the others below to too see what I mean. This is not a criticism of your great work, I am just sying that we can offer something that can enhance it because there will be an absence of granular effect. We offer discounts to subscribers of Britmodeller. Lovely Dio though and very atmospheric. Fantastic! Steve.
  21. Very nice and very original. I was so impressed with the sub bursting through the ice in 'Ice Station Zebra' I remember your order because you spoke to my partner in crime 'Vanessa' about this project, so it's great to catch up with you! You can get good thawed and wet ice effects also by just applying liquid clear resins. See this spitfire thawing on an airfield Also, we make a ready made ice sheet, Krycell Ice which is cast in two layers of transparency. A clear layer and a slightly milky oxygen layer. See it here on this video Very good modelling, if you PM me I will send you some Krycell 'extra' to try. All the best, Steve
  22. The up and coming winter, the smell of hot food cooking and open fires, the dark nights and modelling ice and snow.....

  23. Hi Swede. From the website....Frozen water, Wet thawing snow, fractured ice, fresh snow and slush..All in one dio!
  24. I love your first attempt, mine looked the same. What I have found is that gradually you can control the product in the most un-controlled way if you see what I mean It just get's better. Though ice, frost and snow were a major presence in many historic warfare scenarios, it is not represented because of the past difficulty to do this effectively. Have a gander at precision ice and snow's website how to guides and look at their youtube chanel too for help maybe. I look forward to seeing more of your work. Keep it up!
  25. Hello all after a long absence. I used this product and am continuing to do so. I built this test Dio some time ago on this forum. I have more pics, or visit the page on '7 day tiger winter Tiger build' in diorama construction. The point is if you take it seriously, there is nothing better for winter effects. i think the key is to follow the instructions properly https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1yodjIT4Gs0 If you treat it like a toy product you will get toy results. If you treat it with respect, you will get 100% realistic effects. I have used baking soda before but the scale is all wrong and mine yellowed with age. Also, it absorbs moisture, something wlse I do not like. I have done some more work with this stuff which I will upload when I continue where I left off, except this time with my gorgeous Hobbyboss T-34 A proper model. Below is my 'TEST' dio 1/54th toy Tiger.
