  1. I rather doubt we will see any FAA releases such as a scaled down Sea Vixen, Sea Fury, although the Walrus is possible. The reason for so many FAA releases this year is it the RAF 100th next year so the light blue will be the focus of attention, The Phantom FGR2 seem a sure thing, possibly even a gift set version of the FG1 in RAF special colours, the Javelin would be nice to scale down. As for the F-35B i'm pretty sure the research and CAD team could probably generate quite a good model if they tried, the killer in the equation is the licence fee to LM to produce it - a pity really as we do need a decent F-35B and would also be suitable for the US market being a USMC type.
  2. Hi Martin What resin ?, Flyhawk are state of the art injection moulding, & etched Brass http://www.modelwarships.com/reviews/ships/hms/cv/Hermes37-700-fh/index.htm https://starling-models.co.uk/index.php?id_product=851&controller=product&id_lang=2 I think you will be impressed I'll have a snoot in my Carrier references Cheers Geoff
  3. It's a shame Fujimi or Flyhawk didn't do their HMS Hermes in a 1930's scheme with appropriate aircraft. Should look the part with the far east colours and the colourful biplanes. http://www.carrierbuilders.net/element/element.php?id=709 The mentions White hull and Buff upper works whilst on the china station Pity you didn't get the Flyhawk 1937 Coronation review kit, its got the earlier pre-war configuration but no aircraft apart from Swordfish. but with its full hanger deck it lends itself better to a diorama (it also has its own etch included )
  4. People have forgotten that the tools in the old days were hand crafted by a toolmaker (where Trevor Snowden mastered his trade) these days its designed and manufactured by computer and the tools are milled out according to the programme. Thus they can try out the tooling, on a cheaper metal, run test shots, refine the CAD design and the layout, test it again and when satisfied they can create the final tooling in the preferred alloy. Those lectures by Trevor and now Simon Owen should really have been recorded so it can illustrate how the model business has moved on leaps and bounds since the 80s
  5. I never said an A4 variant, I would have hoped for the A1 as its not been done by others and is the definitive BoB version
  6. Well its the only mainstream aircraft from the Battle of Britain that they haven't retooled so one should really be on their to do list at some stage.
  7. Given its the RAF Centenary next year I would guess a strong RAF bias next year. with a mix of new tools and revised tooling's such as the Phantom FGR2. I suspect the new tools would replace old mouldings so a Ju-88 might be possible as the Luftwaffe subject to fill out their BoB line up, US wise I guess a new P-47 would be a contender as it used by the USAAF, go with the B-17 and possible RAF boxing too.
  8. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1-700-VeryFire-USS-Battleship-BB-67-MONTANA-1945/192203945927?_trksid=p5713.c100284.m3505&_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D12%26asc%3D44268%26meid%3Da68b8398bf914d59a2154fb246bc5856%26pid%3D100284%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D9%26sd%3D192203945927 A new injection moulded kit of the proposed US Battle Ship USS Montana which was an enlarged four turret version of the infamous Iowa class. Wonder if we can get them to do a HMS Lion or HMS Vanguard to go with it
  9. Mel's doing it because nobody else is, he's had it lined up for a while so ensured that Airfix and Italeri had no plans to do the Canberra bomber in 72nd in the near future. As his range expands you may find an Australian dealer wanting to distribute the S&M kits, as the Sycamore would also do well over there, and they may like the Provost and the Stalwarts
  10. Xtradecal may re-release the Canberra Squadron markings set that Model Alliance did which had the 45 sqdn markings or alternately try and find the Kits At War set that Dutch Decal did that had the Washington and Canberra bomber option
  11. 43,200 yen so that's £300 much the same as the Fine Moulds and its Revell rebox
  12. What about the Neomega Wheel Well set and the Cockpit set for the Airfix buccaneer ? http://www.neomega-resin.com/172nd-buccaneer-wheel-well-set-127-p.asp http://www.neomega-resin.com/172nd-buccaneer-cockpit-set-126-p.asp
  13. Hi Mike I meant unfortunate in that is the Yorktown jumping the queue over the Belfast's that were announced last year and are something new in this scale especially the post war version. Cheers Geoff
  14. Trumpeter have posted up a new 1/700 ship in their Monthly preview page unfortunately is the Yorktown which maybe a rebox of their Hornet or hopefully a revised tolling with the corrections made. The bad new is its still not a HMS Belfast or HMS Ark Royal. Hobby Boss have announced the 1/350 HMS Agamemnon to follow on from HMS Lord Nelson in their Pre-Dreadnaught range
  15. Reminds me more of a converted RAF RTTL (Rescue & Target Towing Launch) which date from the 50's. A bit like the ones they used to represent the MTBs at Malta in the film ' Hell Boats', where a Ford class ML became the E-Boat
  16. As I recall the HP kit was the USS Franklyn D Roosevelt and in her 1957 guise with plated up bow and early angled deck. The Orange Hobby is the 91 Midway probably based on the ship as ship is now a museum, as well as decent resin, the Orange Hobby kit with have crisp details, a full photo etch sheet that's made to measure, turned brass domes and masts, full decals as would be expected from a maker using the latest techniques to design, develop and produce these kits
  17. https://starling-models.co.uk/index.php?id_product=1067&controller=product&id_lang=2 Mike at Stirling Models has had some more photo's of the forthcoming Orange-Hobby 1/700 USS Midway 1991 multimedia kit. Looking good and will make a nice alternative to the standard CVN fleet that's available. Not entirely sure about the airwing as The F-18s may be a separate set along with the Hawkeye, but the Kit appears to include Sea King and Intruder/Prowler aircraft.
  18. Spotted this in one of the blogs Homebee posted up on Shizuka Trade show, its under misc section so no idea who's doing it as yet but pretty sure some will find this very tempting as and when it appears
  19. I don't know whose doing this but a 1/35th A41 aka the 1945 Centurion should please quite a few of the Armour modellers and those interested in Panzer 46
  20. I asked for the rest of the fighters to appear in 72nd such as the Tie Bomber, B wing and hopefully the Tie Defender as that's now been incorporated into Rebels. I also requested Imperials and rebel troopers to go with their AT-AT & AT-ST in 1/144 to allow those hardcore to do the Battle of Hoth. I also suggested in the comments about possibly doing Hanger diorama sets, as you could do Tie Fighters in racks with Imperials/First Order Navy and Storm Trooper figures and Rebel Hanger with groundcrew and support equipment, so could do Yavin temple, Greenham Common or Home One cruiser as would be a nice way to display a couple of their models together. Damn I forgot to include a request for the X-Wing with Blue Squadron schemes or the Partisan X-Wing.
  21. Look at the link, I posted its got a pic of the model with its label
  22. I think its HobbyFan so it will be resin conversion kit and some what expensive, but still nice to see it done http://tieba.baidu.com/photo/p?kw=模型类新闻&flux=1&tid=5110822962&pic_id=95060e09b3de9c829c8ea7916681800a18d843a7&pn=1&fp=2&see_lz=1&red_tag=z3442495847
  23. Last Jedi items will be on hold until the formal merchandise release due in September from what I recall. I saw something on the Daily Express website that they accidentally posted up some micromachines which Disney rapidly took down but it looks like Kylo may have his own star fighter something akin to the body of his gramps X-1 but with Interceptor style foils
  24. I sort of suggested moving it to Modelling news as still relevant,, but just not about the kits themselves anymore We'll probably get another Airfix 2018 thread later in the year when they start to drop hints on their Facebook page but until then its probably wiser to wait for this years kits before we start speculation on next years, but I suspect it should still be good if limited
