  1. Does it look good in Cura at least like the way it looks in the photo I posted? In your photo it looks like the nozzle is too close to the bed for the most part, it looks ok on the far right. Can you redo the bed calibration and lower the left side of the bed? It is very important to get the bed calibrated correctly, please take your time and get this right. I have spent a lot of time doing this on my printer as well. I usually use a standard A4 office paper and check that I can get it between the bed and nozzle with little resistance in all 4 corners.
  2. Starting to look really good, how bendy is it now that it is only 0.5mm thick? About the slot width, in version 1 the slots and the area between are both 0.43mm, it is the inaccuracy of our 3d printers that make the slots too thin. Version 3 has the same setup but here the width is 0.4mm and the distance between each recessed area is wider. In version 2 I tried to counteract the narrow slots by making them 0.5mm and the area between the slots 0.3mm. This requires some changes in Cura otherwise the areas between the slots won't print properly as you said. I loaded the default settings for your printer into Cura and tried to get the area between the slots to slice properly, I changed the setting below and now it should print properly (compare the top to the bottom):
  3. It is a Pyro kit originally but yeah I know what you mean. The windscreen and side windows are very off especially the first. If you look at the photo of the box I posted earlier you see that the windows have been corrected or it is a different model. I wasn't actually pleased when I opened the box and looked at the body parts. But since I am a big fan of old British cars and there isn't a whole lot to choose from in this scale I still wanted to build it I just have to try to fix the biggest errors to the best of my ability.
  4. Added some putty on the a pillars as there are no gutters going down them like I got after gluing the different body pieces together. I also drew roughly where I am to cut to make the windscreen bigger, next time you see a photo of the body it is either ruined or more like the real car.
  5. I have PM:ed you the new thinner models. Also I thought I give you another Cura tip. If you are interested to know how the printer will move during a print before actually printing the object there is a preview function where you can watch the printer movements. This is good to early detect if the settings you currently have are no good and you don't waste time or plastic. Below you can see you have to go to "Layer view" then you can select the layer you want to start looking at before pressing play. You can also inspect all layers individually from here.
  6. Are you using a cold bed now? I usually preheat the bed to 50-55C when printing PLA. In your case it looks like the bed is not level, On the "bad side" it looks like the nozzle is too close to the bed. Have you tried to re-level the bed? Or a temporary quick fix, rotate the object 90 deg along Z-axis in order to get away from the bad side of the bed. BTW are you still printing version 1 of the model I sent you or have you tried version 2 with your new printer? It should be possible to print version 2 if you have specified line width to 0.3 mm. Merry Christmas to you, I will PM you a new 0.5 mm thick model tomorrow with the recessed area unchanged.
  7. The thickness of the model is actually 1.6mm, but I can still make it 0.5mm if you want. Maybe not have time today being Christmas eve and everything. Come to think of it, if you want to do a quick test how strong it is 0.5mm thick you can scale the current model in Cura. It will make the recessed area go away though probably.
  8. So this is my latest attempt at printing the slots, as you can hopefully see I changed the model a bit to make the distance between each of the six slots sections wider, as a result each section is a bit narrower. For comparison this is the earlier photo I posted: I don't think I can do much better with my printer, of course one could try to post process with a knife or sandpaper. I know there are nozzles down to 0.25 mm would be interesting to know what one could achieve with that.
  9. I forgot to mention, a friend of mine will possibly get access to a printer of the same type as Anacubic Photon early next year, I will try to ask him if he can print the inlet slots on that printer but I cannot guarantee anything.
  10. I use a Creality Ender 2, bought it from Gearbest (think it was sent from China) for ~150 EUR about a year ago I believe. It has since been replaced by Ender 3 and Ender 3 Pro but I will stick to my Ender 2. I wanted a small printer that I could have on my desk and for the price I think it is great. We have a Prusa I3 MK2S at work that cost more than 700 EUR when we bought it and my Ender 2 gives much better quality prints. Cannot say anything about the Prusa I3 MK3 print quality as I have never used one. In general it seems Creality printers give very good prints for a good price but if you need support from the manufacturer I think Prusa is better. Both Creality and Prusa printers have many users so it should be easy to get help from the community either way. Good to see your prints have greatly improved with the new printer. I think laying the object down on the bed is definitely the right way to go. About the slots being too narrow, yes this is the biggest problem when we have to print such thin lines. You can try to decrease the flow, that means less plastic will get extruded and you get thinner lines but be careful if you set it too low it could be trouble to print properly. As with many other settings it is a thin line (no pun intended) between success and failure. Looking at your setting above that is a very strange layer height you are using, is that intended? 0.1 (0.2 for first layer) mm should be fine if you ask me. Also try to change line width to 0.3 mm and as I mentioned earlier decrease the flow to 80% or 90%. You will learn over time that for prints like this you have to tweak a lot of settings back and forth before you find the sweet spot. I am away from my printer during Christmas and new year so I cannot do anymore test prints for now but I will upload a new photo of one of my latest prints as soon as I can find my camera.
  11. Been thinking about buying a 59 Eldorado convertible for years finally pulled the trigger.
  12. I have never connected the printer with Cura only Repetier Host so I cannot help. I got a microSD to USB adapter with my printer kind of bad they did not include one with yours.
  13. Good, always good to have the option to heat up the bed even for PLA if you ask me. ABS I think potentially give better prints and I think that kind of plastic is more similar to the one you find in model kits. But if you print larger objects it has a tendency to warp and not stick properly to the bed. Also the fumes (correct word?) from melted ABS is not healthy and it smells bad but if you are in a ventilated area it should be ok. Yeah as I said it could be tricky to print with a smaller line width, maybe it works better with the new printer. I am about to print a new version of the inlet slots. I have changed the model slightly because the width between the inlet slots sections is too small on the previous model, also I removed the rounded corners from the slots because I think they are so small it won't show anyway and possibly make the slots worse actually.
  14. I think my latest print is the best one so far, the slots to the far left are a bit worse but I think I can fix that. Also it should be possible to improve further with a tiny file/sandpaper/knife blade.
  15. See picture below, if you cannot find the settings make sure they are selected in the settings visibilty window. Don't make them too small it could make it difficult to print, try 0.3mm or 0.35mm. 0.3mm seems to work ok for me I am doing a print right now.
  16. I have 0.4 too, for the slots maybe we would have more success with a smaller nozzle but in general I think 0.4 is good. You can try to tweak the extrusion width (line width in Cura) to print thinner lines. Strange, are you sure you printed the correct gcode-file? Hard to tell from the photo but make sure the recessed areas are facing upwards.
  17. Beautiful car, I think some cars are too glossy this one looks just right for this classic.
  18. Look forward to the result of your next print, what size is the nozzle of your printer? Also make sure you print it like this:
  19. Great looking car, I have this one waiting in the stash hope to get to it one day.
