  1. Urgh... decals are horrible... not even a liberal coating of decalfix is making them stick...
  2. RAF Centenary.... my somewhat cynical prediction would be a box set of eg 5 models, most likely Camel, Spitfire, Harrier, Eurofighter and one other...just like every other anniversary set... possibly priced at £100 coz it's the centenary
  3. Finding it difficult to source Humbrol Clearfix locally, is Revell Contacta Clear an equivalent ? (It certainly doesn't look clear !) Is it also a specific non-fogging adhesive, like the Clearfix ?
  4. How about Trumpeter's "Chinese New Fighter" kit which turns out to be a Chengdu J-10 ?
  5. Did wonder... It's twice the size of the MiG 29 I'm also working on. External dimensions aside, the cockpit tub / seats seemed much bigger than other 1/72 kit's which is what made me uncertain about scale.
  6. Anyone else go NOOOOOO....WRONG SCALE..... followed by 10 minutes searching of said website ?
  7. Yep, need some fresh targets for the 1/72 Warthogs
  8. You're all misinterpreting it... It's a 1/72 hammer
  9. Found this little beasty languishing on the Windowsill Of Incompletion....... Think it must qualify as one of Beardie's Britmodeller X-Files.... the box says 1/72 but it looks much bigger than that ! A few bits to glue on, tailfin tip to paint and then it's decal time..... might even get round to completing it this year ! ..
  10. Blondie's favourite aircraft, that one ... " Myria, you've got to see her..."
  11. So no Farley Fruitbat then ? I predict... * A re-box of the 1/72 Mustang, with different decals * A re-box of the 1/72 F-86F sabre with different decals * Another marque of spitfire with barely discernable difference s to existing kit * NO 1/72 phantom FGR2 coz they're still trying to shift Navy kits * loads of replies telling me Airfix aren't that mean and I'm being a grumpy old git !
  12. In 1/48 ? You might be confusing it with their secret 1/24 kit... (... but I'd love to see a 1/144 Mriya ! )
  13. Don't know if this has been announced a long time ago (and I'm really as unobservant as SWMBO claims), but the Airfix website is showing Shackleton AEW2 as a pre-order.....
  14. Carrying on despite deadline passing, now on to stencil application. Top tip for this kit : no matter how cack-handed or trigger-happy on the glue you are, make sure you put the stencils on the weapons pylons BEFORE attaching ordinance !!
  15. Spare nose arrived today so a big thank you to the folks at Hobbypro and Zvezda , now I can finish this build off
  16. Had something similar happen a while back when trying to glue lead shot into a nose cone. Now I use blu-tack instead to keep the lead shot in place.
  17. Undercarriage doors and instrument panel fitted. Missile rails attached. Waiting for nose cone to turn up...
  18. "My MiG has no nose." "How does it smell ?" "Terrible...."
  19. Continuing with the "...just because they can..." theme of having more bits than other kits for the same aircraft part, the main wheel hubs are separate pieces. Undercarriage next.... not looking forward to it !
  20. Pilot seat comes in 4 pieces. Pilot figures provided for either sitting or standing about beside aircraft smoking ciggie while refueling... Seated figure in 3 parts , giving the options of either holding the stick or 'keeping up international relations'
  21. I don't think the subject matter per se is problematic - for example I mainly do jet fighters yet somehow Revell's C-17 and A-400M have ended up in my stash - however it's priced so far above 'impulse purchase' territory it will struggle to find buyers. My general rule of thumb is: Up to £20 = impulse purchase £21 - £30 = carefully thought about purchase £31 - £50 = a lot of consideration and only if no cheaper alternative Above £50 = no purchase Scale doesn't come into it, simply the amount of plastic. I'd expect something the size of a 1:72 Valiant to cost around £40, so unless a 1:144 C-5 when built is around 3 times the size , I would not expect it to be 3 times the price. If you're trying to tempt customers, it's about perceived value and not just what the market will bear. I really hope this kit doesn't turn out to be Roden's equivalent of Ford's Edsel....
  22. Wrote to [email protected] , who took pity on my plight and kindly offered a replacement. May or may not arrive in time for this GB, but at least it's something I can put on last rather than stalling the whole build.
  23. A great disaster has befallen my build. I went on holiday without adequately feeding the carpet monster, and when I came back the nose cone was missing...... I blame the
