  1. Sorry to hear of your hassles. Thank you for reaffirming my decision not go anywhere near the place that rhymes with 'nay' !!
  2. Ah, yes, the Black Country. Where everybody keeps asking you if you want a kipper tie......
  3. No, but they have "yo mamma" jokes....
  4. You know, there's also this, you know, overly-gratuitous use of , you know, the phrase "you know", you know ?
  5. Oscar Pistorius has written a restaurant guide ?
  6. After the discovery of "Fluffy" the Alligator snapping turtle in Cumbria, I expect it won't be long before we have crocodiles in the wild over here too !

    新年快乐

I might have had prosperity, but then I read something about Lunar New Year and my prosperity got exchanged for chinese food...
  8. So we've gone full circle : LIDAR detects presence of Spitfire in Museum >> Airfix make Spitfire kit >> Mike builds Airfix Spitfire >> LIDAR detects presence of Spitfire in Mike's room
  9. Sounds like just the man to take on this Starfix kit that's been lying about gathering dust.......

    Carl Weathers, 76

Just read that Carl Weathers (Apollo Creed in the Rocky films) has passed on. Peacefully in his sleep this time, not in the boxing ring at the hands of Ivan Drago. Going to have to put Predator on tonight in tribute.
  11. It's an internet arguement, so right now RobL is either a) building a TARDIS so he can travel to the future to prove he was right or b) training for a boxing match in Las Vegas This being a modelling forum, my money's on (a).....
  12. It's called "confirmation bias". Someone who has just splashed out on the latest and greatest 3D printer is just not going to be persuaded that its not the best thing since sliced bread and isn't about to revolutionize the world. Sounds like it was an interesting topic to have a grown up debate on. I'm going to take a guess as to the identity of Big Co - Games Workshop by any chance ?
  13. Simple rule of thumb is "don't take the pee". Someone shifting a thousand pairs of trainers a month through ebay is quite rightly going to attract HMRC attention. Someone who once one year sold 5 Wingnut Wings kits is not going to be worthwhile wasting time and effort on. Disclaimer : that might change with the advent of AI....
  14. Someone raised the point about shifting from 1:72 to 1:144. I suspect the main factor there is not so much cost, as "Where Are You Going To Put That Once It's Built" syndrome. WAYGTPTOIB is a terribly debilitating disease, brought on by the combination of factors : * ever decreasing size of British houses * relatively cheap prices of 1:72 big subjects on offer 2nd hand "under the table" * being married to someone more practical-minded when it comes to the subject of an Airfix V-Force WAYGTPTOIB is highly contagious, once heard it rings in the modeller's head and prevents future Stash Appreciation Happiness. There is currently no known cure. But with your help, we can research this terrible disease. Please donate to Modellers Anonymous , so that we can improve the lives of ageing modellers with tea and biscuits, while they swap tales of The Stash as they descend into WAYGTPTOIB misery.. Just for the love of god don't donate that Revell 1:72 Blinder.......
  15. It's kind of like an airing cupboard, only when you open the door Airfix kits fall out instead of clothes......
  16. Seldom eat out any more, cut down on takeaways, choosy in which channel subs I keep. Not because I want to, but because while all of the discretionary costs have doubled in price, wages have not doubled. So the "but it's just in line with everything else" arguement doesn't cut much ice. None of those other things doubling in price is justified either. 25% hike over the last few years, fair enough. But not 100% hike. It seems like everyone all throughout the supply chain has not only added a bit to keep up with inflation, but also added a bit to try to "claw back" money that wasn't made during the covid years.
  17. Staying with a muppet theme....

    Holiday mishap

I'm built for running the car down to McDonalds when the rest of the tribe aren't looking
  19. Getting expensive indeed. Have cut down to just 1 or 2 new 1:72 kits a year. Fortunately the only compelling must-have kit for me on the horizon doesn't land until next year, so it gives time to save up !

    Holiday mishap

I wondered what Caracal decals looked like..
  21. More bubble-wrap from Airfix, this time with a Bloodhound SAM thrown in. I'm strongly tempted to just paint the dog on it own as a Blitzbuild entry !!!
  22. Something. This year I am going to build a 1:72 Something. Unless distracted by a 1:144 Or Other.
  23. Unsurprisingly, a bit of Magnum.....
