  1. Next build on the bench. Graham77 did some sprue shots here: Looking forward to an easy but nice build.
  2. Not eating cookies or ice cream? Now that's what I CALL will power. Things will settle down PC, have faith… sooner than you'd like they'll be sullen teenagers!
  3. Fighting with invisible thread? I have a tip: Can you see? No, 'cos it's invisible 🙄 But can you see the blob of Tak on the end? Helped a lot. Models ready to hang, eventually: Hard to photograph but this is the best one: Harrier not as low as I'd hoped but it'll do.
  4. Thanks Giorgio, good man! I had a look at Otto's mobile thread and panicked when I saw the bit where the Stuka was heavier than the others. Out with the scales. Stuka 5g Thunderbolt 5g Me109 3g Hurricane 6g. What! Weird. Anyway, should balance (we'll see) when these go on the frame: The Harrier is obviously a bit anachronistic so I want that to hang underneath the others. If I hang it from a single thread it will sort of swing about eh? Drill a hole, invisible thread in the hole, CA t in. Wait. Pulls out. Rats Tie a knot in the invisible thread (hate this stuff, hard to see). Drill larger hole. Push knot through. Block hole with CA: What do you mean you can't see the thread? It's invisible, see? Or not. Now? Ta dah!
  5. Glad you're feeling better Jont Looking good!
  6. Thanks Giorgio and James. Now then. Canopy frames. Heather had put me on to those weird pens for painting thin lines: I've not been much good with these before so I tested it on some plastic: Pretty thin line on the left there. Hmmm. Does it work for me on canopies? Er, no then. I'll leave that to dry and attack it with scraper things. Transfers: …on. With the scraped canopies: Lesson from this? Don't zoom in.
  7. Almost there Steve… Once again a lovely model. I shall have to sneak mine in the back when we get to Jim's
  8. Thanks Johnny. They add a bit of colour eh? Masked and painted: …and later stripped off (snurf): Ready for transfers.
  9. Correct! Today I finally summed up the courage to get on with it. Thanks PC Thanks Giorgio Thanks Ian Won't be long now Jont so time I got it finished. Finishing touches. Support for canopy: Hmmm. Ready for the rigging: Plan is drill holes in fin, poke lycra in, blob CA in the hole. Worked OK after some Anglo Saxon: The insulators are just tube glue. To be honest I'm glad this is over so no RFI, but here are some pics for you guys: It fought me to the very end. The final job was to instal the props and I thought 'Great, soon be done', Then they didn't fit. I don't have a drill that size. File down the shafts and shove them in. Yep, one of them broke off. Final task is to box it up. Sometime. Back to Quinn's mobile now. Come on over if you're not there yet - I'll be masking the camo next. Soon.
  10. Thanks Alex. I will. Keen to see this done! Thanks Simon. Well, yes, but there's an end in sight. It does! Thanks G. Bomb signal light installed: Should be fine when the canopy glue dries. I've also painted the top OD as per references. I've looked in the Flight Manual but I can't see when the bomb signal light was used. Presumably when bombs were dropped to warn those behind and below? Gator's Grip and MUCH Anglo-Saxon got the torque thingies on: Nose guns installed: A pain getting them straight. Cockpit detail visible if you squint: So, guess what the final job is before the props go on?
  11. Thanks John. What's that you say? Eh? No, not deaf as such but my eldest is an Audiologist so I've had aids for a while. I only use them when watching TV as she also gave me a bluetooth connection that means I can listen on the aids with the TV sound off! Cool technology. Sadly the current model is rechargeable so the supply of pallets has ended. I have quite a few though. Thanks G. Not long now. For some reason I've been scared of doing this: Done now. I just need to find a suitable brace.
  12. Going nicely Jont and right decision on the engine. Interesting thread too - well out of my aircraft comfort zone. Rice Krispies? Who knew…
  13. Thanks Giorgio and Jont. To be honest it'd be difficult to build them more slowly! Of course you can Bill, although I'm not planning a mess up. I reckon you could probably make something suitable from some clear sprue? Micromesh is your friend. I've given the yellow noses about 100 coats of brushed Model Air but finally happy enough with them to apply some 65: The pot was drying but nothing that couldn't be thinned with flow improver. Progressing.
  14. Thanks Terry, Giorgio and Bill. Strange isn't it, we only see the faults… Thanks Steve. Wot Bill says - I think the 'net wisdom' is no more than a couple of days. For me, knowing life diverts me from the bench, I think I'll be back to tape unless I'm SURE I'll be taking it off. Thanks Jont. I have been picking at that masking and now I think I've sorted it. Finally. Some dot painting around the canopy too: Still drying.obvs. Another pain was applying Dulcote to the transfers on the wing. Duller than the rest. So I've brushed some Galeria over the top: We'll see what it's like when it's dried. Another thing to watch out for. If you're using hearing aid battery packs for small amounts of paint (why would you), make sure the paint doesn't flow into the varnish bit: It wasn't that bad while I was brushing but, I guess, coloured varnish is no problem. We'll see. Weathering I'll call it.
  15. Nice work Jont, both on the house and the Jeep
  16. Great work Steve, she's looking brilliant. And me. It's the software learning that's putting me off. And a lack of artistic design skills of course.
  17. Always good for me to get and update on all things PC I'm having similarly frustrating problems with Mrs B. She used bicarb to remove some stain from a garment on the kitchen worktop and, strangely, it left a brown mark on the Rustic oiled worktop where the liquid had soaked through a towel. Various liquids and scrubbing failed to shift it but did remove the oil coat leaving a bare wood patch. This morning she washed some blackberries she'd picked from the field. Guess where? Now we have a blackberry stain instead. Now I'll have to sand the whole top and re-oil it. Oh, the joy.
  18. Thanks James, Jont, Cookie and Bill. Another period of inactivity caused by, wait for it, problems removing the masking fluid. Some people never learn. After a few sessions with various tools: I got to a few remnants like this: Some touch ups required around the frames: That canopy top doesn't fit really well so the 'open option' will be used! I also knocked off the aerial post so that's been CA'd back on and I'll leave it to dry for a bit.
  19. And so it starts… Bit flashy: …and ends! Ready for some paint, already.
