  1. I was sure they were white, but always dirty, so ended up looking greyish. Having said that, Deci Red has taken its toll on my memory.
  2. We called them Tonkas on XV, as did 16 and 20 at Laarbruch. II(AC) Sqn (Jags at the time) called us "swingers". When an F3 arrived on site, we would go out and service an F3 or an ADV. Jet Provosts were JPs, but I don`t recall a nickname for E3Ds when I worked on them. Bombers were generally known as mud movers.
  3. A beauty even if it was 1/48, let alone 1/72. Regards, Dave
  4. Lovely. Do you have any pics of her next to your Warspite? Regards, Dave
  5. I was wondering what you were up to lately, Captain/Foxy. I can`t understand how I never noticed this build. I remember my Dad making me this kit when I was about 10, and using vac form sails. I love the look of the gold on black; that must have taken forever to paint. All the PE should do a good job in bringing an old kit in to the 21st Century.
  6. Once I finally get my 1/350 Academy Warspite with Pontos add on finished, I intend to use the PoW kit and Pontos add on to make KGV in 1941. I am really looking forward to this build, Daniel. I only hope you are not as slow as me at building. Will you be water lining the hull? It will be interesting to see what extra the WEM PE brings, and whether it would be worth me buying this, also. Regards, Dave
  7. It is an impressive plane, but one of its engines does not have the same power as all eight on a B52 (8 X 17,000lb). Regards, Dave
  8. I`m looking forward to this build. I started working on these as a propulsion technician when we only had ZH102. ZH101 was delivered later, possibly after ZH103, as it was kept on in Wichita for trials. I notice Airfix have tape instruments for the engines, when they should be dials. Not a biggie, I guess. Secondly, the oily appearance in the U/C bays was due to the RAF insisting on a wax sealant being sprayed all over them. The NATO AWACS and TCAs never had this, nor did the USAF if I recall correctly. These aircraft were all brand spanking new when I started on them. I can`t believe they are now over twenty years old. Regards, Dave
