  1. Really nice progress - this is already on my to do list but I have a Flower Class that comes first. Martin
  2. Thanks, I decided to go with the 1/350 Admiral Chabanenko - I can always venture into 1/200 later! Martin
  3. I suddenly have the urge to build another ship, and initially looked at the Trumpeter 1/350 Udaloy II Admiral Chabanenko #04531, which I really like the look of. To date I've done 1/72, 1/144 and 1/350, but never anything modern. … but then my eye strayed to 1/200 scale and I looked at the Trumpeter 1/200 #03612 or #03613 Sovremennys. Although I’ve read some nice comments about these two kits I’ve also heard some awful comments about some of the 1/200 Sovremenny kits being hugely inaccurate? Any thoughts? Also, does anyone know the rough difference in physical size between the two scales for this size of ship – 1/200 might just be a step too far to find space to display it. Martin
  4. Hard to believe it's 1-72 - impressive! Martin
  5. Ingo I had exactly the same problem and ended up scraping it off twice and re-doing it, but it kept happening. It's put me off featuring water for the time being! Martin
  6. Beautiful - and really unusual Martin
  7. Thank you all Colin - yes that was the problem, I struggled to remove it all (not nearly as easy as the videos show!) Martin
  8. You must have the patience of a saint! Fantastic Martin
  9. This is my second attempt at a larger scale aircraft and one I've always wanted to tackle. Despite adding as much weight as I could (or so I thought) it is still a tail-sitter, hence the strategically placed cocktail stick! Also it's the first time I've used Flory dark wash but it didn't come out quite as I'd hoped - but lessons have been learned. Martin
  10. Thanks, and it even won first prize today as well
  11. Les, the paint was Tamiya XF13 - possibly not entirely accurate but it was what I had available! Martin
  12. Very nice - I have that kit in the queue waiting to be built! Martin
  13. I’ve just finished this, completely OOB and am quite pleased with the result ... it was finished to represent as closely as I could the F2.A at East Fortune, which was once flown by Squadron Leader Roger Chick, my former Flying Instructor who sadly passed away a few years ago. It was done for a challenge at work - all the members of the team currently redeveloping two of the hangars at East Fortune were challenged to built a model of one of the aircraft to be displayed in the hangars once they're complete - we have around 12 people taking part, most of whom are complete novices, so it should be interesting when they're revealed tomorrow! Apologies for the photos, done with an iphone in less than ideal lighting. Martin
