Airfix 1/48 Lightning refurb
rodenlee replied to rodenlee's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Hi Scarlet Thanks very much for that...that's what results from a failing memory and not looking at old instructions. Further mod on the way! Cheers Shaun -
Hi all Here's my refurbished Airfix 1/48 Lightning F.6 It spent many years as an overall NMF model but it looked too "toylike" for my taste so I gave it a camo treatment. Most of the bits went back together okay- though the canopy was a bugger to model closed... I'm not certain the dummy red tops were this colour but can't find many images to be certain- any advice is welcome! I'll do a NMF Lightning at some stage once I've improved doing that sort of finish. Cheers Shaun

1/48 Red Top/Firestreak missiles for Lightning Mk. F6
rodenlee replied to rodenlee's topic in Aircraft Cold War
Thanks Tweeky- that will work for me, though the Sword kit seems to have the noses for Red Tops and Firestreaks the wrong way round (or is it me??) -
1/48 Red Top/Firestreak missiles for Lightning Mk. F6
rodenlee replied to rodenlee's topic in Aircraft Cold War
Hi James Thanks very much but I think Tweeky has solved my problem. I'll use the Redtops from my Sword T.4 for my renovated F.6 and use the kit's Firestreaks for the T.4 Thanks Tweeky! Cheers Shaun -

Hi James Thanks very much for that...next task will be to find some Red Tops! Cheers Shaun -
Hi all I am revamping my 1/48 Airfix Lightning and am repainting it in a grey/green scheme. I'm not sure if it would have carried Red Top or Firestreak (?) missiles and am chasing a pair that would be appropriate for the era 1972 to 1980 ish. I'd really appreciate any advice on appropriate missile type and where I may be able to buy some aftermarket please. Thanks very much for any help All the best Shaun

Hi all I have been looking for these decals for a while but it appears that they are no longer available from Barracuda Studios. I'd be interested to hear if anyone else makes 1/48 EE/BAC Lightning stencil data decals please. Thanks for any help. Cheers Shaun

Hi all I am contemplating building my 1/48 GWH T-33A as a non-camouflaged German version. I can't really tell if they were left natural metal or painted something like high speed silver. In many photos they look to uniform to be natural metal. I'd appreciate any guidance anyone has to offer please. Thanks very much Cheers Shaun

I've seen a 1/48 MIL MI-14 on Scalemates supposedly produced by a manufacturer called Top Gun with a release date of 2013. Does such a kit exist? Cheers Shaun

Hi all I'm working on a Revell 1/48 Tornado to make a grey/green camo GR1 with the wings fully forward. Did all such era Tornados have the area which sweeps back into the fuselage painted light grey? While the vast majority of kits have that area so painted, I'm not sure all aircraft did. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you Cheers Shaun

Thanks F-32 and Ad-4N I'm not a fan of massive levels of weathering (primarily because I'm not particularly good at it!!) Cheers Shaun
