"Gordon told me he has lost his modelling mojo recently - a sad state of affairs." How does that work. I'll have to look at Hannants web site for "MOJO" as I've never had any!!!! -

Sorry I couldn't make the meeting and I'm disappointed your Banana didn't get 1st place. Who won? Was it that pesky Tank Builder Gordon from Peterhead? -

Gorgeous! I'm working on exactly the same kit just now and I'm hoping it can even come close to your cracking build.

They are excellent suggestions Jon. I'll have to try Tamiya Smoke. Indeed, I'de love to wean myself off enamels all together and try full time acrylics. Good luck with your future flying boat and keep me posted on how you get on. Kindest regards, Marags -
Dear Modelfreak, Thanks for your kind words. I mentioned how I did the sea in post 12 of this thread but it was essentially an experiment with modelling clay which I bought on Amazon. Thanks again, Marags

Dear Jon, Thanks for the high praise! I also agree that it does look a bit dry. I'll splash a little satin or gloss varnish on it to simulate water. Thanks for the great suggestion, Kindest regards, Marags -

Its a fair cop! But, in my defence, I have previously explained that the crew had been kidnapped by aliens who now have power over the plane. Therefore, their superior traction beams would permit a landing on rough seas without flaps down. P.S. does AOC mean Alien Object Candidate

Charlie Barley's marag it is. So full of concentrated saturated fat that even looking at one gives you angina! I could have used one of Calan Neillies Kippers (of which I made many thousands) or a stag loaf but I look more like a marag! -

I heard of a good airbrush technique which involved "scribbling" on the surface of the first coat with a slightly darkened and/or lightened and very dilute shade of the first coat. You scribble at varying distances and the effect is to produce an uneven texture. I've been using it on my planes and its quite effective

I believe that the proof of the pudding in modelling is whether you can be fooled into thinking that a photo of the model is the real thing. I think you've managed to pull that off especially with the hangers in the background. And its hand painted!? Fantastic and well done. -
Here are some photos of a build of a BF109E I bought a little while ago. I've followed some astounding builds on this "work in progress site" which I can't compete with (especially the Skyraider!!) but I hoped that some of you might be interested in a less expert build. I've included some fabric seatbelts and have done some pipework and cables with lead wire I got on line but it is essentially out of the box. Thanks for watching and I'll post the finished article soon.
