  8. Hi gUys I went directly to RED BULL, as this is a comercially based product, and the answer is NO. So if you want one I suggest making your own markings, unless somebody is able to get an agreement with them then I cannot see decals being printed. copy of my return email from RED BULL cheers Ali Sadly, we are unable to authorise your request to use our logo because as you will appreciate, the design you are requesting to use is covered by trademark legislation and our lawyers have told us that to assist you would cause legal complications. For the record we do not allow any unrelated parties to use our branding, as it would give the impression to the public at large that we have some kind of association, which in this case we do not. As a result of unscrupulous use of our intellectual property we have to be very restrictive in authorising the use of the Red Bull logo. I am sorry that we cannot help you on this occasion but thank you for your interest in Red Bull. Kind regards, a2zeemodels---11/12/2010 10:17:14---Hi The following message has been received on http://www.redbull.co.uk

    Why Resin.?

Hi Sean There is a range of different resins that can be used, polyester can be used more smelly to work with, and does not have some of the good features that the urethanes offer, but there is a wide range of silicones and urethane resins and each company has their own favorites. By that I mean resin manufacturing companies and resin casters like myself. It all becomes trial and trial again and lots of errors till you find something that you like working with. Casting a few bits and bobs for ones own use is one thing, production casying brings more challenges. Generally the silicone, is the more expensive part of casting and the resin comes in quite cheaply, just that the silicone only lasts 20 - 30 castings as a general rule, many will argue that they get a lot more production through a mould but once again that is all personal and not a defined science. Industry norm is accepted at 25 life's but even if you have a REJECT CAST that is one life gone. Many of the tricks lay in the sprueing of parts, vacuum pressures, and you can go from hand casting to basic vacuum pressure machines to more ellaborate internal mix and controlled machines, that will offer even better results but those big machines wil run you in for at least £7-£10,000.00 for a smallish one that has been refurbished. A good basic vacuum system off the shelf will set anyone back by at least £1000.00, and to get a descent size tank and good pump more like £1500.00 to £2000.00, and before I get shot down, yes you can make and build one cheaper perhaps but then you better know what you are doing and make sure that it is safe. We also use two part moulds as there are some bigger items and more complex ones that you cannot make in a closed one piece mold either, then supporting and closing the big molds accurately can also become tricky. Harder silicones will take white metal, but for white metal casting it is better to use a more specialzed rubber. Ali

    Why Resin.?

Hi Tony To keep it fairly simple, Technical reason:- resin offers the big advantage of being able to do undercuts and fairly substatial ones if required, as all the silicone molds can be made in very soft pliable material, the other point is the silicone moulds cam and will pick up very small and accurate details, or bad points as a finger print on the masters. As you would have seen extremly complex one piece resin parts are possible, where thes are just not possible with injection molding. Another point is that very fine details on cockpit interiors, such as switches and seat straps etc. can be produced, in resin, where as this is not possible with injection process. Commercial point:- smaller runs of sets and details are a lot more cost effective to produce in resin rather than that of injection molding. The majority of aftermaket sets are mad within the cottage type industies and injection equipment is out of our reach commercially. hope that this helps Ali
  18. Hi Guys Here is my penny's worth of input These kits are some of the best out there and they are very reasonable. This topic seems to come up often on BM and my feeling is if you want one or two of these kits just buy them. Basically the kits are $79.00 and $59.00 post free, surely you cannot beat that or complain, compare them to the 1/32 Roden kits which although good are no where near the Wingnut kits, they currently retail at about £48.00 for the new releases. Then we have the new Tamiya Spifires and they retail at say £100.00 to £115.00, so what do you get for the Wingnut's Ok estimated figures but these are them $79.00 divided by 1.5 for the exchange rate (could vary positive or negative, but I just got 1.56 through paypal today to pay SAC) = approx £53.00 + VAT on that should be approx £9.00 plus the dreaded £8.00 makes a total of £70.00 whcih is a good price for a quality model. $59.00 divided by 1.5 for the exchange rate (could vary positive or negative, but I just got 1.56 through paypal today to pay SAC) = approx £39.00 + VAT on that should be approx £7.00 plus the dreaded £8.00 makes a total of £54.00 which is a good price for a quality model. NOW on these kits I would gladly pay £6.00 more for these over the Roden equivalent. Okay the negatives are the £8.00 handling, yes I am not happy with this either but I have to pay it on every shipment that I get in from USA etc., and if it is more than one box you pay that each time. I have read the long debate about getting it back but in a business sense I really cannot afford the time and hassle going backwards and forwards to claim the £8.00. As far as VAT goes well we are stuck with that, we pay it every day and do not get me started on FUEL taxes etc. we could debate that for years, and unfortunately the VAT will be going up soon so another reason to get a Wingnut or two now. Remember you only pay the £8.00 once, so if you buy 3-4 they will package them together then it is only maybe £2.00 per kit, then you may end up at a similar price to a RODEN. Think of buying as a group of you, two or three guys then you can spread that handling charge. IF Wingnut take the FREE shipping away then the prices will rocket as the postage will be about £20.00 - £25.00 in my estimation and you will pay the VAT on that as well, so then the kits will get a lot more expensive. As far as distributor / agent goes Wingnuts have made it their policy not to appoint any, anywhere in the world other than HLJ, and then only if you live in Japan can they sell the kits to you, what all the reason is for that decision is I am not sure. Believe you me I have tried and I am sure others have tried as well and I am sure much large companies than little A2Zee Models, have tried to import these. So there you go I have nothing to gain but if I was any of you consider the points above and if you want one or a few of them and can afford them just buy them now, I think I may still try and get another 1 or 2 for my Christmas, from my lovely MRS A2ZEE, not sure if it will happen but I can but try................................... Okay that is it for now............................cheers Ali
  19. Really great model Stephen, one of the best looking Sea Fury's that I have seen for a long time, well done. cheers Ali

  21. Hi there Very interesting, as said I would contact Neil at Paragon, and see if you can get a better piece, Being in the casting business I know only to well that things happen where there is no real explanation. Just like all manufactured items and especially resin sets, the manufacturer cannot measure and cross check every part that gets de-moulded that is an impossibility. A letter/email to Paragon I am sure will sort the problem. Ali
  22. Great Work Manu This is really great I love to see models that have been through the wars and the battles, and I think you have captured the look very well. Ali
  23. Hi Guys We will be including the new gun barrels for the Mk XVI, just getting those completed, along with a few other details, so the bubble top will have the gun barrels. Further to that we will be offering the 'e' wing upgrade as well for the kit, so this will be ideally suited to the above project, the 'e' wing set will follow in about 2 weeks once we have sorted out a few things and made up some stock, so keep a watch on BM and on my website A2Zee Models cheers Ali
  24. Hi Richard Thanks for showing us a really nice build, thank you for recommending my Alley Cat set. cheers Ali
