  2. Hi Wayne I buy all my materials from EMA model supplies, really great people to deal with http://www.ema-models.co.uk they have sheets all thicknesses at 660 x 305, well the main ones and obviously 1mm I usually phone my orders through but oviously you can do it all on line. cheers Ali
  3. Super Model Nik Well done for your first resin kit, very nice diorama setting, it looks very good all round, thank you also for the praise of the kit. We have now made a small change so hopefully the front will not require the shimming, but as with all resin there is some shrinkage and expanasion that cannot always be taken into account. cheers Ali
  4. Thank you Spence for doing some great builds, and for the promotion, look forward to seein g the article in full soon in the magazine. cheers Ali
  5. Hi Spencer That looks fantastic, I would like to do that scheme at some point in the distant future, looking forward to seeing the finished model. cheers Ali
  6. Hi Spencer Looking good, you certainly are build through the Vampire range fast...........cannot wait to see it completed. cheers Ali
  7. They dropped the Whirlwind because a major manufacturer (or something like that) was intending to do it. WHEN is another question. Well That is what I want to know??? possibly MPM / Special Hobby?? But what drawings are they going to use? Every published line drawing so far is wrong. Well John, that is difficult, but as with so many models, I am not sure who has got ALL of the answers on every profile and every aspect of any particular aircraft, lets be honest, as I have said before 'WE' that being the historians, modellers, pattern makers etc. cannot even agree points on aircraft that still exist, i.e Spitfires............... I do know where you are coming from, but manufacturers cannot always wait for the definative drawings on every subject, and then who is going to verify that they are 100% correct, and make sure that translates 100% into scale. Ali
  8. Hi Jay Laverty of MASTERCASTERS got these masters the Armoured Bridge is available at Hannants http://www.hannants.co.uk/product/MST35006 But Jay may be able to help on other items???? contact him via www.mastercasters.co.uk cheers Ali
  9. Any idea or indications why the Whirlwind was cancelled? cheers Ali
  10. Great build there, thanks for showing the completed model. Ali (Alley Cat, A2Zee Models) Thanks for the comments guys, between Phil (the pattern maker) and myself we are trying to make resin model making as easy and friendly as possible
  11. Hi Pat Thank you for sharing your model and thank you for using the Alley Cat conversion, you have done a great job. cheers Ali (A2Zee Models) Alley Cat
  12. Hi Spence Great work there I must get one of those kits myself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! cheers Ali
  13. Colin Nice selection of varied subjects, I do hope these do well, I like the Hunter decal sheet, the early Hunters are great 'clean' aircraft, great lines and unspoilt with dog teeth and usually not much hanging off their wings. Ali
  14. Hi Mark That does look nice keep up the good work. cheers Ali
  15. Hi Dave Just remember I am going to release XJ476 as a specific set, sorry I am still running behind but there is quite a lot of diffeances to the standard aircraft, so just be patient and you will get all what you need, the decals are printed I need to complete the parts for casting. Also if you still need the Meteor F8 instructions just remind me of your email to my email address. cheers Ali
  16. Here is the colour, well as you can see there are a few subtle shades. cheers Ali
  17. Hi Nick I do not have the paints to hand but I would certainly go for the medium grey, do not make it to dark. I do hope you have a good time making the model. cheers Ali
  18. Hi Arie and Nick Thanks for the replies and for the information. I have no problem with you guys pointing out some of the points that you have and as both of you are scratch building you are also doing massive research into an aircraft that you both take an interest in. Like all us modellers we are always after to producing what we believe to be the most accurate and best kit. As I am a dedicated modeller and do take pride in my products I do like feed back, and where commercially possible I will and have already made improvements to sets or decal sheets etc. Therefore I will in time have a look at the points raised. All the best to both of you with your endeavors, look forward to seeing you completed models. cheers Ali
  19. Hi Guys I am interested to know your findings, Nick I am sure it was you that I helped and sent a load of information to, so I am curious to know what you may have found out, and if it is yourself how is that big project of yours going, is it making progress? Arie I have tried to down load the drawings you have sited, but they all seem to be in pieces, and I cannot find how to get a complete set all as one drawing. I must say I do admire anybody that does scratch building and as you say it has taken over a year. However I was just wondering if you have seen one of my Gannets at close hand and what and how you are basing your information on. I would just like to state how my kit came about. The drawings were done specifically by the guys of 4+ Publications, they visited Newark museum and took actual mesurements and lots of photographs, they then produced what I believe are possibly the most accurate drawings on the subject. 4+ have already released the book on the ASW Gannet and were to release on the AEW, but as yet that has not materialised but that is what the drawings were produced for, for a future publication. So in my eye that is still the drawings that I would trust more than any others at this point in time or until they can be proven incorrect. It must be said that the guys at 4+ gave me the drawings for my project. Added to that I visited the Fleet Air Arm museum myself and took well over 100 photographs of details of the Gannet on display there. It was then from all that information that the Alley Cat kit was made, and to be honest although it may not be 100% perfect (what kit is) it is very close and the best out there. I cannot publish or distribute the drawings as they are not my property to do so and they may very well be pulished at some point in the future. Arie I commend your work and I am sure you are making a great model so do not take this as negative, but I just feel it is right, that it is known where and how my kit was developed. Also I think everybody needs to remember that when scratch building and making a one off model the modeller can always add more detail and finer detail to what can be achieved by a commercial kit wether that be resin, plastic or whatever. cheers Ali
  20. Hi Julien and guys Well if you can wait, a few months (probably about 6 months) and are prepared to try your hand at an Alley Cat kit then I hope to have the T.11 out. cheers Ali
  21. Super work so far good to see my kits getting built. As for Swiss ones they are already work in progress, watch out for more news in the next few days, on further variants and options all due soon. cheers Ali
  22. That is great, oh well at least I do not have to do that one now, these kits are good, top class stuff, I will get one of them for sure. Ali
  23. Hi Guys a few points firstly the Vampire, the rounded wing will follow in the Mk.3 version next year, so then you will be able to do what you are after, and I will also look at quite a few different and unusual colour schemes for these Vampires. next the Vimy, I will be looking to expand on the Vimy range in time, into Vernons etc. and would like to include civilian and ambulance versions. On this note if anybody has any details and or good information on the colour schemes for and aircraft or two please get in contact, as information is quite thin on the ground. Ali
  24. Hi Guys Thanks for the comments, I know some would have prefered something a little different but the Vampire with the family and many users made commercial sense to me at this point in time. But as I have said before never give up on your hopes and wishes, and who knows what company will release what next. I do know what many of you do want and I am trying to cover as many bases as possible as quickly as possible. cheers Ali
  25. Hi Colin Sounds great, I look forward to seeing and possibly having one of those SR 53's off you once you have sold to all the other good customers. Ali
