  1. Hi Viking Thanks for a great little review, I look forward to seing you build the model as I have seen your other build and they are really fantastic, so I am sure you are going to do this little kit justice. To all the other that want one they are available to purchase from the A2Zee Website http://www.a2zeemodels.co.uk cheers Ali
  2. New seamless intakes now available from A2Zee Models http://www.a2zeemodels.co.uk
  3. Hi Graham Thank you for your input, I will certainly be able to use some of these dimensions to check out the drawings and ensure that I get them to scale correctly. cheers Ali
  4. Does anybody, especially our French modellers and enthusiasts have any information on the French versions. Ali
  5. Hi John Thanks for that, I will pm my address soon. Cheers Ali
  6. Hi Guys and Girls I am looking at the Jaguar family, and have been so for quite a few years, I started 1/72 scale sets about 5 years ago and then dropped them for various reasons, with the interest in the new Kitty Hawk kit etc. I have started to re-look at these for various reasons. The bottom line is that with at least four different sets of drawings by various folks and publications and actual data provided in my referances and on the internet, I cannot be 100% sure of the aircraft length, wingspan is tie up and close to 28 ft 6 inches BUT there is a few differnaces but I am reasonably happy with that. So what I need is somebody who has guaranteed sizes for say the French (A) the British (Gr.3) and the (T.2), I have udsed these as a general name term as I am sure then we can all call them in simple terms either A, Gr.3 or T.2. Also need to know what the length includes or does not include i.e pitot etc. So far I would say what I have is from pitot tip to rear tip of the elevator, but I will take ANY confirmed point measurements. Please answer as exactly as you are able and if you can provide back up data and or drawings that would be great, send me a PM and then I will send you an email address or street address if needed. thanks again, cheers Ali
  7. cool model Spencer, only thing is you took far to long to complete the model..............
  8. Well it will be exactly the same kit just a decal change, the first kit is basically a Mk.5 anyway, because from what I can see they did not extend or offer a small part to extend the starboard engine 'bullet', whish is the only real visable external difference between a 9 and a 5. So they have issued a 9 that is not really a 9 from a 5 kit and then have issued a 5 from a 5 kit as a second release, well the sequence if nothing else baffles me. Hey ho, I am sure these Trumpeter kits will sell loads more than the few hundred I have sold, well I do not sell any any more, but we still have other versions that they have not covered, and have some really interesting schemes but at sort of three times the price, will only appeal to discerning modellers (or rich ones) cheers Ali
  9. Be honest guys IF anybody did a 1/32 Sea King, they would almost certainly start with a US version first.................. Ali
  10. Great responses guys, sure glad we have moved of the tailplane terminalogy issue, slot or slat, we know they are there and it is only words to describe the tailplane option. WH904, I am not sure why you would really want yo do this, as I think it would make it very complicated and expensive BUT you may have, other reasons for doing so, you maybe aware of other good feature for cross kiting, I have both kits so will have a size play, but just think that with having to basically add the Academy forward fuselage to the reat of the Hasegawa kit seems a little odd. Ingo, well that and a few other points, was what surprised / confused me but I think with what has been discussed and shown so far is starting to unravel it, so hopefully soon we will get a better and true idea for the FG.1 cockpit. cheers Ali
  11. Thanks guys for all the information, all appreciated, Jonathan thank you very much for the pictures. I can only think that the slotted / slatted tailplane were trialed on the FGR 2's OR, they need some spares in a hurry and had some laying around? Well maybe that is an explanation. I cannot find the Black Box / Avionix FG.1 cockpit set, does anybody have one I could purchase / loan, or even send me some good pictures of it? cheers Ali
  12. Superb (Airfix) model, well done............I thought you were not supposed to release those pictures just yet??? Did Airfix say that you were allowed to release pictures of the proto-type model, as they told me you were only to release the images on April the 1st for the April fools joke, that is not really an April fools joke, but as you were to do it on April the 1st nobody would know it was a joke or not, until they released it at Telford 2013. Ali
  13. Hi Dennis Trust that you are well up there in Cupar. Thank you for that input, I think just about all or most of the questions are now covered and confirmed with your input. Oh well, now I wonder when I will get some time to BUILD the models.............. Best get back to my pattern making for the next Alley Cat and Rotor Craft releases........... Thanks once again for the replies, will keep watching if any other interesting facts emerge. cheers Ali
  14. Hi WH904 Thank you for your reply and input, all is appreciated. Ali
  15. Hi Greased Lightning Thanks for the reply, as they say it all starts of with little bits of info and then it rolls on to a little more. So your input is appreciated. cheers Ali
  16. Hi Guys and Girls I am looking for a little help, after getting the suberb new book from my sons for Christmas on the Britsh Phantoms by Double Ugly (Airdoc), I cannot wait to get part 2 when that is published. Well being inspired I dug out my other referances and my one Hasegawa 1/48 scale kit in the stash and started looking at the various options, then I went and purchased some Aires cockpit sets and another Phantom kit, well at least then I can do at least one FG Mk.1 and one FGR Mk.2. Now the main question arises in regards to the cockpits. Aires do two cockpit sets, one for the 1 and one for the 2, and these are almost 100% different to each other, and I am sure that they have got the details correct, well as close as can be for good representations. So first question is when and how did the cockpits change? The following is quoted out the new book as referanced above, from pg 32. In conclusion, following the two YF-4K prototypes and two pre-roduction F-4K, only 48 production FG.1 would be manufactured. Of these 48 production airframes, 29 would be taken on charge by the Royal Navy (21% of the original requirement), with the balance of 19 FG.1 production going to the RAF. The RAF, following two YF-4M prototypes, would receive 116 Phantom FGR.2. So now I think I can accept that all 2's had the same cockpit, I am sure small changes happend in the life time but as a rule they would all look the same. The dilemma and interst comes about with the 1's were the first 29 that went to the RN, fitted with the 'naval type' cockpit? (I will also maybe need to track down the serial codes) were the other 19 that went to RAF, fitted with FGR.2 'RAF type' cockpit? when the FG.1's went shore based did the cockpits change in any significant way? Last but not least, when the FG.1's went shore based did they have the catapult hooks removed and or faired over? Did the FGR.2 airframes from the start have their catapult hooks removed and or faired over? Well I do hope that ther are some Phantom experts out there that can help, answer these questions. cheers Ali
  17. Hi Andy May do an unspatted version at some point, but not for a while I suspect. One of the reasons being that I think that most of the later ones (I think and have researched) had the metal skinned wings and further changes, all is very vague on the Hs 123 as there are no definative, time periods and breaks, for change of the updates in real life. I am not saying that fabric winged versions flew with the spats removed but it all gets vague, and if the metal skinned wings are more prevalent then as you can appreciate there are more changes that will be required to the masters. cheers Ali
