That looks super. Your mud looks especially effective & really sets it off well. 👍

    Steve.

Hi Steve. Thank you very much for your comments. I do like Vallejo's mud products, which reminds me, I must buy some more!!

Great work Stix. The weathering is really nice. I think I never saw your model in 1/72.

Thank you very much Nenad. I haven't done many 1/72 AVFs for a while, but I have made quite a few in the past.

    Kind regards,

Another great piece of modelling. I really like the weathering. The muddy road wheels and tracks look very realistic.

Hi echen. Thank you. That's very kind of you to say. I think the Vallejo mud works best when it's used sparingly, especially in 1/72.

Really smart looking Tiger,in such a small scale that's very impressive👍

    Watto. 🍻

Hi Watto. Thank you for your comments. I think it helps that Dragon's detail, on their kits in this scale, is pretty good.

Very nice Tiger Stix. Don't often see you in this scale in AFVs.

    John.

Hi John. thank you for your comments. Yes, I don't often make tanks these days in 1/72, although, I really enjoyed this one, so much so I'm going to make another 1/72nd kit in the GB. GBs seem to help my motivation to build stuff.

I had made a few tanks in 1/72, when I was younger, but I started my main AFV transition from aircraft to tanks by making a couple of Dragon kits in 1/72, although at the time, I was still making aircraft too! This diorama included my first attempts at German Armour:

Once I'd enjoyed making these two, I was hooked!

    Kind regards,

    Stix

    All the best,

    Paul

    Hi @Marklo, @Keeff, @Stef N. & @Muchmirth. Thank you all.

So, this kit was washed in warm soapy water on Saturday, rinsed and then allowed to dry. Then, yesterday, I made a bit of a start. Mostly attaching parts to the upper and lower hulls and generally getting stuff to the point where I can start painting. If you have seen my builds before, I tend to try and paint as much as I can before assembling everything, often leaving stuff on the sprues where I can.

I found there are some errors in the instructions, but nothing that was too difficult to sort out. Some parts were not mentioned at all and even not shown in the sprue diagrams!! Also, some of the sawn edges on the ends of the metal plates were depicted wrongly and required some filler in places and scribing in others. Luckily this wasn't too hard to do. And there's not exactly a lot to assemble in real terms, apart from the running gear.

So, this was the results from yesterday, not a lot!:

As well as doing some filling and scribing, I drilled out the ends of the exhausts, to improve the appearance:

I have also noticed already, that there are going to be some large gaps where the top sides of the rear plate won't reach the insides of the left and right upper hull sides, I will probably fill these with some plastic strip. So, this kit is certainly not as good as the previous one.

    More next week, I hope.

    Comments and suggestions welcome.

    Kind regards,

    Stix

Like quite a few modellers in this STGB, one Tiger build never seems to be enough!! So, having completed my first build last weekend, please check out the result HERE, I decided to have a look through the stash for a suitable second kit. I have got plenty of 1/35th and 1/48th kits in the stash but, seeing as I'd enjoyed making the previous 1/72nd kit, I decided I'd like to do another. And this is the one I chose:

    Box edge info pics:

The detail looks quite good again for 1/72 and the kit comes with a small photoetch fret:

Most of the stuff on the left of this sprue/fret is not used at all:

    53666555369_a1433fc5dd_h.jpg

And not all of the stuff on the right is used either!:

    Decals:

    53665330097_8022fddbaf_h.jpg

DS tracks - I think they seem okay at the moment!:

    The instructions:

    53665330162_5443a400ca_h.jpg

I'm not sure which scheme I'm doing it in yet, and it might not be one of the two in the instructions, if I can find suitable decals in the spares box.

Anyway, hopefully I will get it started tomorrow. It won't be as quick a build as my last one because I haven't got any holiday days left, and Easter is in the past..........but there are two Bank Holidays in May!

    Kind regards,

Great work and really fast! I really like the balanced level of weathering, it looks really dirty but you haven't hidden any of the small details under layers of mud.

Hi all. Thank you very much for your comments. For anyone that's interested I have now done a post in the Armour RFI section and it can be found here:

Like so many other modellers in this STGB, one Tiger build is not enough! I checked through the stash and found this:

I'll be starting a thread for it soon and hopefully I'll get it started tomorrow. It won't be as quick as this build as I'm out of holiday days now, although there are a couple of Bank Holidays in May!

    Kind regards,
