  1. Greetings and salutations fellow plastic-fondlers and glue-sniffers I'm about to start ZM's 1:32 P-51D (kinda gave that away in the title, didn't I... D'Oh!) and would like to enhance this superb kit with some AM goodies. On initial inspection, the only AM I can find are from ZM directly, which whilst totally understandable from a marketing stance, makes little sense outside of Japan, as the prices are a little high (global economy not withstanding, of course). So - the question I guess is... whose AM parts are suitable for the ZM kit? If push comes to shove - I'll build it OOB - but it would be a shame not to enhance areas like the gun-bays and wheels etc.... Any information / previous experience advice will be greatly received. Tally Ho!
  2. Loving the idea, and excellent execution A couple of very tiny observations if I may however? The FW190 didn't fight in the Battle of Britain, and the Mk IXc Spitfire you have modelled here wasnt operational until 1943. I am far from a rivet counter, but I feel the historical details are important after putting in so much care and attention to this wonderful diorama. Tally Ho
  3. Simply stunning - kudos on an excellent build. I have one of these in the stash... it may just make it up the ladder to spot #1 - after I have finished my Revell 1:48 Mosquito B Mk IV
  4. I have one of these to build (much) later in my modelling career, when I can do it some justice. You are an artist sir! Congrats on Phantastic Phantom
  5. You could also check out Phil Flory's 1:32 Tomcat build at www.florymodels.co.uk - he modelled his in flight with two acrylic rods up the pipes - then painted the rods... the man is a genius!
  6. Hey gang. I need some advice I am planning on building 9 1:32 Hawks as the Red Arrows for my local RAF Museum at Cosford. I know - I must be crazy!! While this is vey much a pipe dream at the moment, and very much in the early statges I thought I would curry opinion from my peers. I intended to do the diamond 9, nice and simple formation to hang from the ceiling in Hangar 1 maybe? The model display room at Cosford is too small to house such a large collection of 1:32 birds (despite that, the ceiling in the model room is only about 7 feet high) In addition to the airborne display, I also intend to do a static diorama of Red 1 being prepped for launch, and I wanted to make this one super special and throw a load of resin and etch at it. Etch is simple enough, but resin scares the eebies out of me... I have my eye on the CMK resin pit, has anyone worked with this and how does it fit into the kit? I've read so much about resin pits and fit issues with much sanding and shoe-horning required... Don't really want to make a hash of it if I can avoid it. Comments, thoughts and pursuasion from my mad course much invited
  7. You may be correct, but I think this, as a replacement part is quite frankly, farcical.
  8. Wow.. Two days to receive a replacement set of wings.. Good days Replacement set of wings, while 1000% better, and nowehre near as warped, port upper wing has a dirty great crack in the wingtip - presuably where it was ripped off the sprue. Bad days. Won't be buying any more Airfix kits... Great customer service is meaningless without a decent product behind it...
  9. Just finished one, but the body shell and internal parts are two separates, so would need a great deal of fiddling to get right, and scratching to get just so... I thought about doing it doors open, but then reaslised the gulf between my dreams and my skill would result in money down the drain Good luck mate
  10. Excellent suggestion, I have just filled in the web-form on the Airfix website, so will see what arrives in my e-mail inbox over the next couple of days. Good to hear I am not alone!
  11. Sadly, it's from a well known on-line retailer - I won't name them, as this is not their fault in any way Thank you for the suggestion however
  12. Hello fellow modellers. Long time lurker, first time poster. Took delivery of the subject model today, and eagerly stripped the packaging open (carefully) to inspect my new kit. How very dissapointed was I when I saw warped upper and lower wing parts, not just a little, but huge great banana style bows in the plastic. I fully intend to ship this off to Airfix for a replacement sprue, but wondered is this a fault common to this kit (read, shall I cut my losses and just buy an Italeri offering)? Thank you for any comments / opinions that are offered up. Tally Ho!
