  1. Hi gang, Here's my latest work, a Turkish Viper of the 161 sq, which is the world's first non-USAF squadron with LANTIRN capabilities. The Academy kit comes with some issues for a Block 40 aircraft such as the absence of reinforcement plates, which I scratchbuilt. The glare shield and ECS scoops on both sides of the air intake as well as the intake-lower fuselage distance had to be corrected. Thanks for looking and happy modelling...
  2. A very sharp looking Typhoon indeed... Definitely
  3. Thanks... Could have been better, as always... Worked on this for almost two months, so I had to finish it as boredom started to show up...
  4. Very kind of you, thanks... I'm glad you liked it... Salute to the gang Thanks Spookytooth...
  5. Simply scratchbuild... Simply !!! Well, that is a "Bumble-bee" but you are definitely a "Humble-bee"...
  6. Final update. I'd like to thank you all for following and your kind comments during the build. See you at a new project... Cheers from Istanbul... Can TARI
  7. Hi folks, Here's my second model on Britmodeller. Thanks for watching, hope you like it.... Cheers from Istanbul, Can TARI
  8. Thank you guys... @ Tomj, nice to hear some good words abour the camouflage, considering that this is my second model ever with airbrush and the first one with a camouflage. The darker edges could have been thinner in some places, but well, next time let's say... In general I could have tried more for better results, but that level satisfies my enthusiasm for jet aircraft and shelf-display purposes for my liking, so I would not go further as I have really limited time for modelling... But really would love to as I many times see here very talented modellers with very advanced modelling techniques achieving outstanding results. Thanks... Can TARI
  9. Thank you all for following as well as kind support and encouraging... Some update... Masking on the nozzles and exhausts... Exhausting indeed, as three different colors applied... Watch out, wet paint... Some canopy details added... FOD covers and RBF tags design on CorelDraw... Decalling on the armament... Each of these AMRAAMs had 23 decals !! Pity they are fully under the aircraft and never likely to be seen on display without a mirror, which is not my favourite... Assembly, a bit of weathering and finish coating works ahead... Not too much left to do...Next update will probably be with a finished photo of the aircraft.... Till then... Can TARI
  10. Thanks... The panels I've drawn - or rather redrawn- myself on AutoCAD software, based on aftermarket details' pictures available on the internet. I should not give any names as it could be a copyright issue, but you would have no difficulty in finding them. Mine is a little bit extra work with CAD software, but anyone could repeat the process by printing those panel pictures on sticky paper or some kind of foil, if he decides to go trying the extra mile with the kit. Although it is time consuming and nerve breaking as you shall have to make many adjustments on the printouts, I personally feel the result is justifying...
  11. The camouflage needed further attention though... The color transition from light to darker gray is soft but also bounded by an even darker shade of gray. To be able to achieve the soft transition and the darker outline both, masking had to be offset a few millimeters from the surfaces... Dark gray first and the darker one thereafter on the outlines of the masking, both sprayed perpendicular to surfaces... Here's how it came out... Moving on now to other details such as weapons and landing gear etc... Canopy frame should better recieve some scratchbuilding... Thanks for following. Can TARI
  12. Thank you Chris The most intricate part of this build is to achieve the correct gray shades with the correct amount of metallic look. The body colors of the actual aircraft -other than the bands on on the edges of the wings and control surfaces- are somewhat controversial, thanks to how in different ways the light conditions of any given day effect the look of the electrochromatic paint on this bird... Other modellers' references are also generally based on assumptions and paint-mixing so I set to work for my own recipe. It was my 18th (yes, eighteenth) trial after which I felt I have achieved satisfactory color range with sufficient level of shine. Three different grays of Vallejo mixed at varying levels, a considerable amount of natural steel plus gunmetal seemed to work... Masking... My least favourite process of modelmaking... Light gray...
  13. Thanks coneheadff I've done a bit of scratchbuilding and detailing... The first of these is the RCS Enhancer the kit does not provide... The wheels of the kit come without gravity, so I flattened them a bit to give the weight effect... I thought a ladder would look nice... I used the Eduard ladder detail as template but used rounded beams of brass and plastic for the side rails, which that detail set offers as flat by nature but are round in reality... I'd say the result is quite satisfactory, for me at least... Paint works ahead... Thanks for following... Can TARI
  14. Good evening folks... Update here... Priming completed without any major issues, raised panels still in good shape... Priming medium is Alclad Microfiller, a truly perfect coating for such works I can say. Some sanding with fine abresive paper is required to soften the edges of the panels which is what I haven't done yet, so they are still a bit raw in shape on these pictures... A few scratch building works ahead before the painting job... Thanks, Can TARI
  15. Thanks everyone for your kind comments and suggestions. When I first got the idea before the build, my modelling instincts told me to first try the sticking capacity of the paper to make sure it would adhere properly and not fail in time. Then I tried primer and paint work on that sticky paper well before I even started to draw those things on the computer, so don't worry, it'll work In fact, it is working I'd rather say, as I applied the first coat of primer today. Hope to post update and pics of the primed kit tomorrow... Thank you all once again for following and encouraging... Can TARI
  16. Thanks Dave... I can tell you that the paper I use is even thinner than PE, plus does not need extra effort to bend and glue... The cut & fit was the most troublesome part and now that it's over, I think I will achieve a satisfactory result on this experimental build... But we'll see.. Can TARI
  17. Here's last week's works on the panels... Lots lots lots of correction and modification on the panel drawings I had to make... Do not try this at home These curls drove me crazy...
