Never heard of this developmental aircraft and as soon as I saw yours I had to buy one!!!
Looks great
What a beautiful build and finish you have achieved
With regard to the nose weight not being enough do you think any future modellers could slip some weight in the nose and in the bomb and in the forward part of the engine to get it to sit on the tricycle without the rear stand??
Just wondering
BTW my order on the interweb will be arriving imminently I'm sure......how am I going to hide that one from the missus? 🤣😎🤪

Just brilliant Russ
Your builds and finishes are always amazing
I had a crack at a Hobby Boss 1/72 in Brazilian Colours a while back and just enjoyed building the Tiger
Your F-5E is inspiring!
Cheers 😎

I built the emil and it turned out almost exactly like yours!
Well.....I guess there shouldn't be any great surprises there I suppose!
Love the desert schemes and I agree....the HB easy builds are fun, mostly pretty accurate, inexpensive and a great canvas for a bit scratchbuilding (cockpit etc ) or just a great painting mule to try new techniques without breaking the budget

Overall I think it was ok if you like a 72 scale canberra. The worst part is the overall fit.The kit looks great on the sprues but when you start building it its a different experiance.I havent built the 48 kit so I have no idea.
Just about all kits look great on the sprues don't they! 😉

Wow
I think Academy kits are good value and provide decent detail but I've never seen the Ilyushin kit available locally
Your's looks amazing
I'm going to have to keep my eye out for one!😉

That is a great job on the Academy kit
I'm currently building one myself and seeing what you've done is very inspiring
Cheers!

Nothing wrong with those Hobby Boss easy assembly kits
Great fun, quick, simple and you can still bring them up a treat ......exactly what you've done!

Well done Alain!
Lovely build
I'd much rather see 3400 builds than 3400 kits sitting in a cupboard
Good on you 👏🙂

The root cause of the tail failures was elevator flutter/resonance at high speed, the tail transport just happended to be the weakest link in the rear fuselage. Adding the fishplates made the joint stronger, requiring higher forces to cause failure but not eliminating the problem. The cure was a revised elevator mass balance arrangement, which did not need the fishplate re-inforcement but their fitting was retained.
Nice result with the Academy kit btw.
On 8/19/2023 at 6:47 PM, Graham Boak said:The fishplates were an obvious treatment to improve morale, rather than actually being particularly useful. There was metal fatigue failure of the elevator mass balance, likely caused by the excessive vibration from the Sabre. With the balance weight disconnected, there was nothing to prevent this destructive resonance called flutter, which destroys aircraft. The eventual cure was the later "Tempest" tailplane, although this was also needed to cope with the destabilising 4-blade propeller. Once the problem had been identified and treated it went away, until a surprise resurgence later (1944?) led to an investigation finding several aircraft where the balance had been incorrectly installed/missing.
Thanks for the kind words and the additional information on the fishplates and the root cause of the tailplane issue
Very much appreciated

Bravo Zulu....btw what are fish plates??
They are the reinforcing added around the fuselage just forward of the tail assembly on a Typhoon
That section had to be strengthened to stop the whole tail section from completely breaking off
It was a design and engineering issue that had to be rectified
I understand they lost about 22 aircraft and 21 pilots from this problem prior to the introduction of the "fish plates" to strengthen the fuselage

Nice Typhoon!
3 hours ago, stevehnz said:A really nice job on that. The Typhoon is one of my favourite aeroplanes & yours ticks all the boxes I reckon. 👍

Thank you very much everyone for the kind words
It is very much appreciated! 😎
