Thanks Tom, I made the mistake of checking when the comp is onand I've got another month to go! I thought I only have another week or so, but I'll keep powering on to avoid the inevitable rush at the end. Over the last couple of days I have cleared the model, applied the decals and cleared again. I actually let it sit for 24hrs to let the clear cure before I start to weather the model. Thanks Dave

Wow, Absolutely amazing build, especially when you consider that it is in 1/72! Great job so far, and looking forward to more updates. Thanks dave

Good work mate!! Yeah I have progressed well over the last few days on this one. I resprayed the dark areas a little more to soften them and have also painted the black section for the 76sqn scheme I'm (and everyone else) going with. Thanks dave

I'm steaming ahead at full tilt!! I bought both the model master (what I normally spray with) and the Humbrol colours as called out in the decal sheet. I found both of the darker grays to be too dark when compared to the full sized aircraft pic's. a pain when I had cut out stencils for all the darker areas. I tried to lighten it up when applying it to the fuse, but went too light I'll let it all dry out properly and give it another hit freehand this time. Thanks Dave

Thanks guys, Chore is a perfect way to describe the building of this kit!! Thanks Dave

Hey Guy's Never done a WIP before but I have some pic's taken of this build for the boy's so here goes! It has stated life as the 1/48 Airfix BAe Hawk 100 series, and I have used the now getting very rare R&R resin replacement nose and cockpit kit, CMK undercarriage set for the airfix kit, and also have the Aviation workshop "Commonwealth Hawks" decals to replace the kit offerings. This has been my first attempt at such large chucks of resin and it's been a challenge, but were on the home stretch now, which is a good thing because it's been on and off the shelf of doom a few times now! The wing tips (kit items) didn't really fit well at all. the intakes were also a really painful area. The R&R rabbit ears and ECS bay replacement also gave grief, but that might have been more operator error than the replacement part itself! All in all, it's definitely not been an easy build, and then Kinetic released their 1/32 half way through that made it hard to keep forging ahead, but we are almost there! Thanks for looking Dave

Very nicely done mate, Just one question, when I looked at the pic's there seemed to be a problem with the pic's or my screen, I kept seeing two wings?? I'm sure you'll sort that out Thanks dave -

FINISHED! Tamiya Lancaster 1/48 (#61105)

I just pop it back into the display cabinet when I'm done The wings slide off the aluminium spar they sit on. The stab and fins come off as an assembly as well. It's. Still a pain even in its pieces. The fuse is 2.9m long. Back to the more reasonablely sized one..... Thanks Dave -

Haha, I'll see if I can dig up a pic! Yeah It's the Tony Nijhius plans, but modified to sort out some things I just didn't like that he did. I bounce between R/C and plastic as well, but as we don't have a "no flying season" here, it normally just depends what mood i'm in. Madly bashing plastic these days. As I suspected, my modelling buddy reads these threads and so gave me a stern talking to re: building his lanc So I'll just watch you build your instead Thanks dave -

I currently use CA, and I apply it with a very very fine needle, but there is no adjustment time, and some times if you take too long to place it, it goes off so Looking for other options Thanks Dave

Nice, thanks for the tips guys. Nail varnish being acetone based doesn't attack the plastic? Thanks dave

HI guy's I'm half way along on building the the Hobby boss 1:48 F/A-18A with the very comprehensive Eduard PE set. I have worked with P.E before, but was wondering if there are any handy tricks for gluing PE to the fuse exterior? I have to do attach small bits like formation light surrounds etc, and don want to have to try sand around them if i get CA in the wrong spot! Thanks in advance Dave

Mine arrived a few weeks ago, and all I can say is ohhhh yeah!!! It is beautiful. I can't wait to start on it, but I have to finish the Hobbyboss 1:48 F/A-18 I have on the bench right now first. my modelling buddy is keeping an eye on me so that I do finish it first Thanks dave
-
Ohh wow, It's very very nice as is, but in 1:48, it would be awesome!!! might have to go have a look see on their website..... Thanks dave

Nice work so far! It will be interesting to see how they come out once primer is applied. I use a similar technique on my r/c scale models but use a vinyl cutter and so all the panels cut out for you. thickness of the completed panel is good for the R/C models, so it will be interesting to see how the 1:48 model comes out. mind you, I don't think that PE is nesessarily any thinner either! Looking forward to more progress pic's! Thanks dave

NIce work so far!! I have one of these kit's tucked away that belongs to a modelling buddy of mine. He lent it to me so that I could use it for reference as I build my 1:9 scale R/C one! I might just have to sneakily build it for him regardless because it looks pretty impressive completed from what i can see in your pic's Thanks dave -
Nice work!!! The mottling slows down a whole heap of Uhu builds so it's nice to see it finished so well. Thanks dave
