I paid for mine 3 months ago, but not with lucky models so not sure that they will be a good gauge of demand. I see a few other hobby shops starting to list them as well I wonder how many will sit on shop shelf's

They stated from day one that they were only producing 500 kits for worldwide sale and they were not sure if the molds would be able to be used again. In their post they seem to suggest that the main molds suffered quite a bit and they are not sure when they will be able to make another run of kits. Lucky models still show stock available if you havent already ordered one!

Yeah I got the same email from lucky models... so they must have been able to get some form of shipping out. Wonder how much longer for us in the colonies.....

Has anyone had any further updates on whether the kits have shipped to the distributors yet? I asked the LHS I bought mine from the other day if they had heard anything and received bit of a rude response, saying they are still waiting to hear that they have been shipped out from the factory

Well, that display case isn't in pound sterling.... that price is in pacific pesos. but yes, expensive. I would think that if a modeler is buying a model of this price/caliber, that it would not be their first rodeo, and would have honed their skills on other models before tackling this beast. P.S. I'm suggesting I feel ready to jump straight into this one just yet!! To me, my models are my artwork. I pour all my skill and energy into creating the best model I can, so displaying them is something that gives me pride in my work, but a model of this size also presents the issue that it doesn't easily fit into the vast majority of display cases, so a coffee table sure does sound like a nice solution. I would like to find something that looks less industrial though.

I was in the same boat as you until I saw the MBK unboxing video and I was sold. Not sure that I will ever build it, but I do want it for reference. Anyways, If I can convince wifey that this is a great coffee table I might be more inclined to build it! https://www.showfront.com.au/collectors/ct900-coffee-table-display-case

the roto's would be waay to big. x4 Saito FG-17cc four strokes. But don't worry, the cost of those would still easily buy me a couple of bordernut lancs and change to spare!! :D:D

Its all a relative thing... In the scale of models I seem to find myself playing in these days $1000 is not really a lot. I regularly fly an R/c model worth probably closer to $12,000 and at the risk of a total loss. We have these arguments on the r/c modelling threads all them time as well. There always seems to be people out there who are prepared to spend what the rest think is an exorbitant amount of money on items. For them its either not a problem for them to find that kind of money, or want it bad enough to front up the cash either way. I always say that just because something is super expensive compared to its competitor doesn't mean there isn't a lot of money to be made with it... Ferrari market to less than the top 1% of car owners with for me, eye watering price tags.. and they don't seem to be doing too badly at all... desire for the product is all you need. I fall into the second category and just really wanted this one badly because I do agree that its a crazy price for a plastic model, but i could justify it because of the quality of the model and the level of details is what i was after... Then there is the other side as well, A beer company here in Australia that decided to produce "duff" beer ( of Simpson's fame). Quickly got shut down by the legal beagles, but the can's that did make it to the market made for a very good investment for those lucky enough to have bought some. Let's see how that pans out I'm told that I should be expecting the kit to arrive end of march/early April

Well, after watching the video and looking again at the HK nose section kit, I decided order one.... I didn't order it from BNA, but can tell you that from Sydney to Brisvegas shipping was $14. Never thought I'd unload that many pacific pesos on a chunk of plastic... but there you go I've been told they are on the dock waiting to ship out so it will be another 6wks away before we see them here in OZ... I was hoping it would be sooner because I plan to use it for reference as I finish my 1/9 scale Lanc

I spy with my little eye..... the cat is currently getting a new scheme on the tails and will get weathered to a fleet bird level of used veeeery shortly.... Can post pics if you want to see... It's not hard to work out why I am so patiently waiting for the Tamiya's cat to be release to the masses. its really fun fun to apply the techniques we use on plastic models to R/c ones. Most radio controlled modellers don't have a clue when it comes to paint let alone weathering, so they tend to drool over 1/2 decently finished models. thanks dave

Live in the country? No, I live about 25mins from a major city. red arrow hawks are, or well at least we're a dime a dozen so been well and truly done. And I prefer a 100 series hawk over the T.1 anyways thanks dave
-
And to answer rabbit leaders question..... you can buy at least 45 of kinetics 1:32 hawk 100 kits for just the cost of the landing gear alone! thanks dave
-
Where all aircraft belong..... In the sky. I have just got my hands on the landing gear a few days ago, but it's for a flying r/c model of the hawk. I currently have 2 BAe Hawks in flying trim but am fixing a 3rd which suffered a less than graceful arrival before I also acquired the wreck. That is the 1:4.8 one. I've attached Pics of my progress so far. It will be refinished in a standard RAAF 76sqd colours once all structurally repairs and panel lines, rivers etc are added. The other two Hawks are what I'm currently flying. the RSAF hawk is my turbine powered one and is 1:5.5 scale, so about 2.5m long. The RAAF hawk is an electric ducted fan model and about 1:7 scale. when not flying the wings are removable and they get stored in my modelling workshop, aka man cave. Thanks dave

Well it was 2 years ago since the last update... I wasn't happy with how it came out so it got parked in that almost finished state since. Here is a link to some of the pictures of what it ended up looking like, and a new project. http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235008554-bae-hawk-scales/#entry2474673 Thanks Dave

If only the price went up by the same factor

Sent my modelling buddy these pic's, to which he replied that the BM mob would love to see those... Finished my airfix 1:48 Hawk 100 a fair while ago and even though I got my hands on the fabled R&R nose correction kit purely by luck, it was a bear to build and I wasn't overly happy with the end result I was able to achieve. So how do you fix it? Go up by a factor of 10! My 1:48 hawk alongside the landing gear of one of my current projects, a 1:4.8 hawk Thanks Dave

1:48 Hobbyboss F/A-18A - help with kit instructions
Ticketec replied to SimonL's topic in Aircraft Modern
Recently finished building the same kit and it builds nicely. I went a bit too silly with the aftermarket PE which dragged the build heaps but I enjoyed it none the less. Good luck building yours! [/url] -

Love it!!! Really really nice build with very nicely executed weathering Congrats Dave -
Very Very nice job you've done! thanks dave
-
Looking great there mate! I have one of these and am thinking about starting it soon, so will be watching your progress with great interest! Shouldn't the cockpit colour be RLM66 though? Thanks dave
-
Disaster!!! I masked off the black areas so that I could clear the grey parts after the weathering had been done, and when I started removing the masks, The red trim decal started coming away from the model!!!! ARHHHH sooo close! There is no extra decal included in the sheet, and clearly the decal didn't stick to well to the surface underneath even though it had been given a good dose of decal sol. After tossing and turning the problem around, the best solution was to try and get another decal sheet. not so easy when the company that made them have shut up shop but 20 quid later, and my now expensive boo boo, should be sorted out in 2 weeks time. As you can see in the pic's, I sill have some more work to do in the cockpit area anyways so I'll try and keep my enthusiasm up and keep going. Thanks dave

Thanks Guy's sdk_uk, start looking now because it took me months and months of searching to try and find the R&R set, and even then, got it purely by luck at a swap meet!
