  1. Fair enough, but by todays standard even F-16 is a bit outdated ( none the less its still very good kit do not get me wrong ), Firstly I would expect to see every rivet, fastener etc...surface treatment compared to their 1/32 kits, taking into account truely superb toolings from GWH and AMK as benchmarks what modern 1/48 tooling should look like....
  2. It truely does not, I expected large slide molded parts, extreme guality of details and clever breakdown of parts- this would have been considered underdetailed two decades ago let alone in 2016.
  3. Although odd to say- Hasegawa kit compared to Airfix has way too deep panel lines especially on the horizontal surfaces, in fact He 111 has probably worst quality of surface detail of all the HAS kits released in the last 20+years, so again Airfix is better, and is today the best He 111 kit in 1/72. All not mentioning lowered flaps option , adding another plus to Airfix.
  4. No, ICM will not be in the same league as your kit If you adhere to current standards
  5. Well Martin if I were you, taking competition from Kittyhawk, Kinetic and GWH into account, in the next few years I would focus on more mainstream types or better said subjects with better worldwide coverage. S.Etendard - yes but wait a few years and for starters try to corner other players. My list would be 1. Mirage 2000C, 2000-5 etc...Kinetic has numerous deficiancies 2. Mirage F.1C etc... same as above 3. Buccaneer 4. F-4C-F .... 5. F-5A/B/C and E/F Congrats on MiG-31....and hope 25 will be as good
  6. Kit does indeed look fantastic, and although I agree that riveting in 1/72 scale is a bit dubious exercise, quality is truely superb. What I dont like is complexity, is it really necessary to have upper cowling in two separate parts ( they managed to do it in one piece with Avia kit) two piece tyres etc...I Know it will all come together more than nice, but in my opinion this kit should have borrowed more from 1/144 kit than 1/48 one.
  7. Price-price-price easily most expensive 1/48 injection kits compared to their size and parts count, I love them and wish them all the best- its a small Company and toolings made to their quality cost very much-but again are too expensive by at least 25% percent, 60€ for Tunnan-wont work! ( at least outside Sweden )
  8. He 51 is very, very good kit, its Eduards Emil that has numerous omissions, in fact I think Legion Condor is Eduards way of shifting non selling items,
  9. 1/24 is Airfix niche, and has always been very very good seller, both in good and bad times for the brand. Today they can produce 1/24 kit for a fraction of cost it took to tool similar kit even decade ago. More importantly 1/24 scale had/has special allure to far wider customer base than more conventional scales, But single engined is the way to go, Mosquito sales have not been stellar, and for vast majority of European households twin engined bombers in 1/24 are way too big ( as are 1/32 jets ) If I were to pick, I would replace sale leaders of the range- Spitfire Mk.I , Hurricane MK.I and Bertha Stuka with new toolings, aside from before mentioned ------------------------------------------ Hawker Fury Mk.I Gloster Gladiator Mk.I/II D.H.Vampire Mk ? D.H Tiger Moth Hawker Tempest Mk.V ( majority of Sabre parts already tooled )
  10. Both Beaufighter and Blenheim should be on Airfix to do list in 1/48, Tamiya as nice as it was, is a bit outdated tooling compared to what we are seeing today, and Classic Airframes Blenheim, well its time for proper tooling. Just please Beaufighter Mk.Ic..........
  11. Just a fraction of kits to come, although release dates will continue to be a very subjective matter to SH. Sea Vixen is old tooling....
  12. Revell, both in Europe and in the USA has the best retail network in the business, they can make whatever they want and they will at least recouperate investement in toolings if not make them healthy profit. Super Hornet makes sense, premier Navy fighter here to stay 20+ years, will be cheaply priced in the USA, be 30% more priced in Europe. But Jas-yes, you are right, unfortunately it has all to do with poor menagement that decided that core Business should take second place to RC and popular franchise products...unfortunately It will get worse, few months ago I had my own rant about Revell after Hobbico takeover, think we will have to wait for some future owner for good News about the brand...
  13. Huge sale drops of Hornby Model Railways and Scalextric coupled with London 2012 merchandise debacle, has nothing to do with Airfix, in fact I do not Know about Pocher but Airfix sales have been sole positive in entire Hornby Group.
  14. Special Hobby now produces both short run and long run kits eg.Gnat/Vampire etc...,and in my opinion that whats dubious about this release, its another short run kit of a subject that due to its numbers and historical significance deserves to be properly tooled.
  15. AZ kit is no Mk.IX, fuselage is too slim and long, proportions are not right, until Eduard Sword is still the best in 1/72, at least Mk.IX.e and Mk.XVI
  16. Yes, model is overly complicated to enable both Mk.I and IV to be done without two fuselages being tooled, it needs dry fitting but can be built into very fine model, compared to MPM kit, its generation ahead except transparencies-in my opion worst of all recent Airfix releases, and I hope somebody will make resin replacement ( SBS ? ) I hope Airfix will upscale both Blenheim I and IV to 1/48.
  17. V.Sulc said on at least two occasions that Eduard does not plan on tooling Griffon Spitfires, on the other hand early Merlin Spitfires Mk.I-V are most likely in 2018? As for Mk.VII and PR.XI, they will be made...when do not know.
  18. Jeroen I cannot see how Laurent behaviour is in any way contrary to forum rules ( at least on this topic), if any manufacturer uses forum( more should do so ) for promotion of their Products than they need to expect not only compliments.but also negative criticism ( sometimes more or less deserved ) If anything if one re-reads Martin AMK comments one will find at least one response that is inappropriate, and that one does show that initial reaction to his post was valid.
  19. Hi Bill, I do not Know, I did not get the chance to see fuselage ( tail ) parts...but they know about tail issue in 1/48 so will see.... Regards Tom
  20. Be prepared for fantastic and in my opinion definitive Do 17 family in 1/72, Airfix is more than nice ( especially fine detail ), but such fine and more importantly sharp detail has to be seen....trailing edges, panel lines
  21. ICM has every right to tool anything they want, in fact MiG-25 was on their to do list long before KH and AMK, with host of preserved airframes in Ukraine I have no doubt they will do great job. As for AMK, as mentioned If they continue with quality found in MiG-31 they have no reason to be worried about ICM. It will definitely be simpler model than AMK and I have no doubt that many will buy both.
  22. Compared to Tarangus is seems better, but there remains to be seen if they made it to scale...all in all as I do not expect anyone else doing 1/48 Lansen so more than few will find their place in my stash! Price should be around 35-40 Euros in Europe
  23. Again another year of too few new releases, again all new toolings are being put off till late in the year, with now customary release dates being certainly postponed into 2017, also there is another 5% increase of prices in EU.... thank you Hobbico!
