  1. Hi Matt, Just come across this exceptional build, what an inspiration to all !! Can I ask a rather mundane question as I need to tackle it in a planned project? What method/tools did you use to complete the cut out of the hull ? Keep up the good work, I will be lurking in the background ;o) Cheers Kev
  2. Some interesting books there at not unreasonable prices . . . I knew of 'Operation Pedestal' but it brought home the horror to read that there were in total 550 killed bringing that convoy to port, a huge sacrifice ! Kev
  3. Hi Guys thanks for the comments Troy experimenting with Kristal Kleer and other products Some more progress on converting gun mount from MkII to MkIX Guns only propped on gun bed Thanks for looking Cheers Kev
  4. Hi Jorgen, I've just come across this build and I'm sitting here amazed at your attention to detail ! Your ability to create the corrections takes this to an art form. Congratulations on a superb build Cheers Kev
  5. Great attention to detail - I love it ! Cheers Kev
  6. Yeah right ! Cheers Buddy (?) Pleased with progress today . . . . The handrail / stanchions around the 20mm according to Airfix were made from 3" dia poles ! Thought I'd go the brass rod approach Proably possible but I chickened out and tried with plastic rod. Still an exercise in patience but not to bad and I'm pleased with the results The circle on the foredeck is the original rail Next mini project . . . exhausts Trying to decide what to do about the cr** porthole glass, any suggestions? Thats for looking Cheers Kev
  7. Well here we go with for me the opposite end of the scale. Modern Italeri @ 1/35 to Ancient (1971) Airfix @ 1/72. First step was putting together the 4 part hull, I'd read on various builds that this is a b****r. I've got to say it went together fairly easily. I started at the stern and worked slowly forward in steps. The slot the hull sides fit into is overlarge so the sides need to be pushed out in the slots to minimize filler on the outside. To upgrade the standard kit I'm hoping to use the Coastal Craft fittings http://www.coastalcraftmodels.com/pdf/pricelist/Coastal%20Craft%20Price%20List%20Nationals%202013%20-%20BT012-040%20CC%20flier%20A5%204pp.pdf I started with the twin 20mm oerlikon. The gun mount is not correct for this craft so it was a case of modify the kit part. Started with Progress so far Barrels replaced with Albion Alloys tube To aid in the scratch building I've got one of these Brilliant bit of kit enabing you to measure to 0.25mm consistently ! I would appreciate anyone pointing me in the direction of any reference photos . . . Thanks for looking Cheers Kev
  8. Chieftain . . . . Am I right in thinking there was an urban camo job, squares black/grey etc Cheers Kev
