  1. I discovered on the plans that there was stowage for 4 x carbines in the rear bridge area. Asking around it seems the favourirte was the Lanchester. Hunted high & low and couldn't find any so . . . . . I scratch built one After all I have to maintain my reputation . . . . as an idiot Cheers Kev
  2. Looking magic . . . I agree with Foxy need more white caps Cheers Kev
  3. Thnaks Foxy Cheers Al, no good keeping your Vosper in the stash - get it out ;o) Got your ' Duffle coats on watch ' ready for the bridge PS Al when can we expect to see Vosper crew in 1/35 ;o) The Airfix skipper scales out at 6' 2" !! and would probably tip the scales at 20 stone, no rationing for him ;o) How can the guy who produced the fine hinges on the left then throw towing hawsers across the carly floats ? Cheers Kev
  4. Congratulations on producing a fine miniature ! Cheers Kev
  5. Thanks for the comments Latest progress remote torpedo launch. The ' T ' bar in centre was so that all four could be launch together . . . . now that would make a loud noise ! Tip for anyone working with wire and need to get it straight. Roll the wire across flat surface with the flat of a ruler. (Hope I'm not teaching you to suck eggs) Wire used for controls 0.2mm Tacked in position Making up the wings for the bridge. Flag locker was to shallow and bracing web missing. Locker not fixed to enable painting Final for today - think the voice pipes have turned out OK with the addition of 0.4mm lead wire for padding. Lead wire in various sizes arrived from liitle cars going to be great for scratch building. Thanks for looking, your comments as always welcome Cheers Kev
  6. Thanks Guys, Pleased with progress so far in 1/72, how the hell you work 1/350 or 1/700. I take my hat off to you. Taped the bridge together . . . you certainly have to be good friends especially with a third officer present. I'm trying to keep the sides separate as long as possible to aid painting the interior. A few more fittings coming together. Front of bridge hand rail, compass binacle (macro showing it needs cleaning up) and voice pipe. I'm waiting on some lead wire to finish the padded leather cushioning. Compass binacle, throttles and engine telegraph. Thanks for looking Cheers Kev
  7. Keep the pics coming Dave Better to jump around and keep your interest than loose your Mojo ;o) Cheers Kev
  8. Thanks Guys for your input. I think you may well be right with the Lanchester machine carbine ! I don't think I going to be able to find models of these ;o) Cheers Kev
  9. Been making slow (eye watering) but steady progress . . . . Grab rail made with soldered 0.4mm brass wire Note rudder indicator on top of steering gear The piece of equipment in the centre with wheel on top is believed to be the remote for the smoke discharge Remote for fire extinguishers Thanks for looking, your comments welcome as always Cheers Kev
  10. Hi Folks, A request from the 'darkside' . . . . Maritime modelling I currently building the Airfix Vosper Type I @ 1/72. The detail plans I have call for 4 x Carbines (Assuming Lee Enfield ) to be mounted in racks on the open bridge. Question anyone know of a source for these ? Thanks for your time Cheers Kev
  11. Martin your a bad person I'm holding you responsible Insanity has prevaled I was sat there looking at the bits I wasn't happy with and had to be chewed off, then smoothed, filled and replaced etc etc ...... The final straw was when I realised the bridge wind deflectors were moulded solid and would look so much better if they stood off . . . .. The difference in height is due to the solid wind deflector! Dont know if its possible but you dont know until . .. . . . . and I've still got the original pieces Cheers Kev
  12. Keep it coming buddy, we need all the corvettes we can get . . . I find if I get stuck/bored/frustrated I move onto a different sub assembly. Keeps me going its supposed to be entertaining not a chore Cheers Kev
  13. Great scratch building ! Keep it coming . . . Cheers Kev
  14. Worth all that hard work, coming together nicely ! Cheers Kev
  15. Thanks Guys, Your support is appreciated. I'm lucky enough to have the required information and stupid enough to think I can do it better . . . . . Only time wil tell Need your thoughts, looking at http://www.little-cars.co.uk/list2.html I see they fine lead wire and coloured copper wire in small diameters - is it worth getting? Sceondly they do masking tape in 1, 2 and 3mm widths - is it going to help with tight curves I'm going to have to mask. I do have/use the tamiya 6mm. Cheers Kev
  16. Hi Frank, I reckon you could make a tidy some on the side selling these to your adoring public http://www.airfix.com/shop/ships/tall-ships/a55114-mary-rose-starter-set-1400/ Cheers Kev
  17. Update with vents now looking better after having had a good looking at with dental burrs. I tend to use an ordinary battery driver fotating at < 1000rpm rather than model drills rotating at 30,000+ rpm I wonder how much modelling has improved since the advent of macro photography I thought I'd finished took pictures . . . Yuk !! Now the small hunch back vents To this For a bit of light relief I turned to the bridge area . . . Note according to plans/pictures the area above the door does not rise up .The various throttles etc seem vertically challanged and the compass is definately feeling rather shy. The location of the steering wheel would be good for steering with your knees Stbd side of bridge with two frying pans for use as voice pipes ! Lacking detail on the central bulkhead Centre compass completely omitted ! Looks like its back to scratch building The plans shown are from John Lambert http://www.feralchicken.co.uk/lambert-plans/ Thanks for looking Cheers Kev
  18. Cheers Matt, thanks for the info Kev
  19. The build and repair are looking good ! Can empathise with the photo etch and I'm working in 1/72, good luck. Cheers Kev
  20. Another step forward with the 20mm - photo etch been driving me mad today! Then the whole point of this build is to see if I can manage a) 1/72 (to me micro scale) and learn how to manipulate photo etch. Not to bad not sure about magazines, think i'll check the dimensions tomorrow. For a bit of light relief I thought I'd make a start on the cowls knowing full well they are going to need alot of work. The fit is better with the locating pins removed ! Clearly seen at the back of the cowl is one of said pins which will need to be ground out. I intend trying to reduce the thickness of the material as well. My sanity today was saved by listening to others advice ! I now wear a wood workers apron clamped to the desk, if I had a pound for every time this has saved me from crawling round the floor I'd be able to pay someone else to do the build Thanks for stopping by, your observations welcome . . . . Cheers Kev
