  1. This would be interesting to visit, but it's a bit far from Tokyo.
  2. Those Monogram/Revell kits are slugs. I have one that I have been building on an off for over a year.
  3. I am used to 1/72 Matchbox kits and not models with more than 100 parts. Student of mine bought me an Academy 1/35 M1151 HMMWV with over 340 parts. I almost died assembling that beast!!!
  4. And here is the one reason I bought this kit over the Eduard kit. It does not have an insane amount of parts, in particular PE parts for the cockpit. Not every modeller out there is, or wants to be a master craftsman builder, especially when so little of the cockpit is actually visible to the naked eye. I for one prefer pilots and crew members in my models, who (in my eyes) gives the model a sense of life.
  5. Just called Academy (ok my Korean wife did) and they said they will let me know tomorrow when she comes out. I am stoked as I am building the F4U-4 of a former WW2 pilot that went down of Korea and is still listed as missing.
  6. I have a load of B-17s, B-24's and a Lancaster for sale I have been trying to call them now for weeks and emailed them repeatedly about replacement parts. No answer.
  7. Ok, so to explain my question, I have some 1/35 figures in shorts (desert infantry) and I need to make them wear long pants. Years ago I saw a topic on how to modify figures this way. Another example, I am making a few Zombie figures and I was to have one with a missing arm so I need to model a torn sleeve of sorts. Thanks in advance for any help Danny
  8. Well dang, I was going to model it open I finished one before and never noticed.
  9. So I finally moved to a place where I can start building again with out too much fear of movers violating my models again. I am going to display parts of crashed aircraft that we recovered over the years and build a model representing each aircraft (as good as possible). My first project is creating a replica of Lancaster Mk. III, JB221. For that I am using an old Matchbox 1/72 kit that I have in my stash. Only after starting the build did I realize how lacking the cockpit is of any detail. Now I am just a hobby builder and this is my first attempt at scratch building, so have mercy on me, lol. The first think I did was try to spruce up the cockpit somewhat. It is actually bad how Matchbox displayed the Navigator and Radio Ops station, but I did my best with what I have (not a lot right now). I first kit bashed a navigator table and a seat for the flight engineer. I also printed out an instrument and engineer panel and a map, which I will glue (with a gluestick) into the cockpit. I also cut the bases of the turrets so they can be installed after gluing both fuselage halves together. I never liked the way they forced you to add the turrets while combining the fuselage halves as it made painting a royal pain in the bum for me. I am also thinking of adding the crew as I always (45 years plus now) have added figures to my aircraft. I was going to insert some photos, but bloody hell, where is the upload image button? And when I try to upload over URL, the field turns red. What am I doing wrong? Danny
  10. Getting ready to start on an antique. A Matchbox 1/72 Lancaster, started, but never finished. I have a question about the Squadron letters on the fuselage. Can anyone tell me what size the letters were on RAF bombers? Also, is there a place where I can but red serial numbers? I see the Sqdn. letters on ebay all the time, but never serial numbers. I am intending to build a Lanc Mk.III which crashed into the Rhine River.
  11. Does anyone have a photo of the A-26 Invader underwing gun packs? I am building a model of the A-26 of LT Cotton, shot down on 22 March 1945. I have found two photos of the plane going down, but the close-up has the gun packs removed by a censor and the other one is to small to get an idea how to make them myself. Thanks, Danny
  12. Ok, last night I managed to glue the right side fuselage to the part that sits between the wing and fuselage. I glued this section to the fuselage first to insure a good fit. This morning, after it dried over night, I gave it a test fit. As you can see in the photos, the section attached to the fuselage looks good and even test fitted, the fuselage halves go together well and the gap on the wing, can be closed when the fuselage gets glued to the wing. I tried this, but could not show this as I could not get clamps on this section. My next part will be the cockpit, which I dread. I am not installing the engine, or fuel cells, beside the top parts of the tanks to help the fuselage retain it's shape. Danny
  13. I guess some google searches work miracles. Seemingly, originally the Gnats were painted in Post Office Red and the Hawks (as well as the Gnats during the last few seasons) Signal Red. Luckily I still have a few jars of that around here somewhere.
  14. I realized, I need to ask a question. Has anyone built the Red Arrow Hawk and if yes, what color red was advised? Thanks, Danny
