  1. Gorgeous models. I love the silver fishbed, it looks smudged with oil in places and messy, in the best possible way, making it look well used and very authentic. It wouldn't look half as good clean and showroom quality, after all, they were used jets. Very nice. Regards
  2. Without acting like a vulture, I wonder if I could have got the saab Draken reduced more. I've wanted that kit since I laid eyes on it months ago. It was only £26ish but I still think it could be had for cheaper. I would have probably bought it today but I must keep money for the new Chester le street shop, I hope I'll get one at the new shop.
  3. Very nice builds, btw, is the f15 out of the dogfight double, f15and mustang set.
  4. Just a quick note to say I've posted a thread in the chat section regarding the new store. I've linked to the website and referenced this thread. I hope everyone is okay with this and I hope you understand I mean to spread the word. Regards
  5. Thanks for the comments guys. I'm aware that this kit is actually a hasegawa kit. I'd wanted a hasegawa kit for ages so was very happy to find out this was a revell reboxing of one. I'd kept putting off building it because it was laborious but it was actually lovely.
  6. When there is a confirmed open date, it has to be advertised on this forum for everyone to see to encourage then to attend their open event.
  7. Wow, this is fantastic news. I'm very excited. I went to Chester le street a few weeks back only to be told when asking for directions that the model shops had closed. I'm really excited about this.
  8. America keeps its old but capable planes in service whereas the UK scraps them, im thinking harrier, nimrod, possibly the jaguar. America's old birds, f15s,a10s, f16s, b52s etc, all still in service. It makes furious how we scrap planes that are still very capable. On another note, the bare livery on the warthog in the video would be a great one for a build.
  9. Thanks for you comments guys. I always stand my brushes upright in their pot, bristles up but I've taken all your advice and tips onboard. To be fair, im using very cheap brushes from the works so I think it makes sense to get some quality ones. My tamiya brushes which I seldom use don't have any issues but I prefer more rigid brushes. I'll get some good quality brushes from a shop when I'm next out. Regards
  10. Hi all, it may seem a daft question but how do you look after your brushes. I've gone through loads in a few months. The bristles keep spreading out and as a result the head gets much bigger and there's hardly any bristles where they should be. I then have to cut the offending bristles off but this then means there isn't any. Regards
  11. Do you mean places to buy kits on the highstreet that is looking grim or the hobby. Regards
  12. Easily the best vehicle build I've ever seen. It really is award winning stuff. The weathering is insanely good and this whole model is embarrassingly fantastic. I also agree that you see so many of these built oob, so for yours to be in a different livery and, if I remember from your work in progress that you made some internal improvements, it really is a brilliant build. Well done
  13. A great looking build. I still haven't started my lancaster as it's the old kit so I can't decide on just building it or buying the new tool. Quick question, what colour and number is the black on this. It looks very realistic.
  14. Absolutely stunning. Looks alot like a corps lynx in my opinion from some angles. Stunning well done. PS love them rotors. Well done
  15. Hi all, this kit was a gem to make and I am very pleased with how it has turned out. Its a livery which, however beautiful it is, annoys me because it is very premature. The harriers could and should have lasted much longer, the date on the tail should be much later. Enjoy
  16. Awesome build. It looks fantastic and the decals seem incredibly well printed and bright. I hope all newer kits have decals this good. Regards
  17. Like Joplings in Sunderland. That had a great hornby section. Sadly this store has also gone, it was a few years ago mind you. You're right, toys r us, smyths, they all should stock kits. Supermarkets should sell kits aswell, I know some do, but asda, sainsburys, they all should sell them, not just starter sets, but a decent range. If a shop like asda sold kits, they would sell like free money.
  18. The lack of model shops in the UK is certainly worrying, not least because of children being introduced to the hobby. We are all guilty of writing as if modelzone will definitely close and while this looks more likely every day, who's to say the staff from individual branches won't open there own shops. It may even be bought, some of the profitable shops, on their last day of trading or soon after that day. The original founder may open some stores on their sites. I say this with my fingers crossed. There is still a big market for models of all kinds, it doesn't take a genius to see this but, the other worrying thing is that it doesn't take a genius to see that you can get kits for a fraction of the price online. It's certainly a confusing world.
  19. It actually appears that Tonys models have closed. Must be a mix of internet sales and the local modelzone eating away.
  20. According to Google, there is 2 more model shops in Leicester, Tonys models and hobbies and midway models. Obviously never being here, I don't know there status. Regards
  21. Very nice. A nice fleet of magisters. I like the colours you've used. There one of the plane's that look a pleasure to fly. Jets don't have to be supersonic and have a very loud engine and powerful afterburner to be great. If I was to pick a jet to fly, it would be a jet similar to the magister, if not the actual plane. Regards
  22. Thanks folks. I'm happy with how she turned out in the end. I'm having a damn hard time trying to paint my wessex as the suggested paint appears wrong so I've either got to order some or mix some. Regards
  23. Okay thanks for that, I will see what my other pots are of, I may have that blue. BTW, I've posted this in the wrong section,it should be in chat general, not cold war. Regards
  24. Hi all, I'm in the process of making a Wessex has3. The suggested paints I'm using are Lufthansa blue and Lufthansa yellow. The blue appears far too dark. The moulding is also a very dark blue so any ideas. Should I paint the model grey first to undercoat it. Regards
