New RN Carriers - In Service Pictures
DanSAR95 replied to Paul Bradley's topic in General Maritime modelling chat
I don't know what to say about these carriers. The thing that makes me annoyed is the ridiculous scrapping of the harriers, at least when they eventually get built there would have been OUR aircraft for them until the f35s arrive. What a stupid decision on the harriers. -
If you look on Google, there where raf catalina in all over white so you could do that and it would still be authentic.
-
Hi, the clear parts are fairly good, there is some fuzziness on the blister windows but it's still very acceptable. Regards
-
Hi, this scheme is a kit scheme, but, the box depicts this catalina as I've made it with the top sides white, whereas the instructions have you paint a camouflage scheme on the top. I decided to do an all white scheme as I prefer it like this. Regards

Hi, the ladder is supposed to keep the plane sitting right, but the front wheel is still off the ground, only by a quarter of an inch mind. Regarding the nose weight, trust me, the plane ways a ton just behind the cockpit after I weighed it down, and it still doesn't sit right, in fact, I only added the ladder because my weights didn't work. Regards
-
Hi mate, it's the 1:72 scale airfix kit. I would have mentioned it in the original post but wasn't aware there was another catalina on the market with a bigger scale. Regards.

Hi all, I hope you like this build. It has took a week and a bit, thanks to the white paint.

piper family.......revell 1/32
DanSAR95 replied to paul coudeyrette's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Very nice, there's something haunting about the stars and stripes piper, reminds me of old circus material. Haunting in a good way though. All you need now is an airfix clown for the cockpit. Great work -
:wow:Awesome job, love the weathering, but, come on, it's not a plastic kit, I know what your friend has done. It's obviously a photoshop job. Hes got an image of a real jaguar and he scaled it, at least this is what it looks like, it looks very realistic and, once again, great weathering.

Westland Wessex Royal Navy revell 1:72
DanSAR95 replied to DanSAR95's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Here's the link to the pen I use. http://www.hobbycraft.co.uk/faber-castell-pitt-artists-brush-pen-black/570354-1000 I use the finest one. You simply draw in the panel lines with the pen. If the effect is to vibrant, just use a cotton bud, damp or dry to tone it down. For areas elevated, like rivets, mesh etc, just rub over them, messy if you want, and, like above, you can rub it with a bud. Regards -

Thanks mate. -
Hi all, here is my Wessex. These were beautiful helicopters and I hope I see one flying one day. The weathering was done with oil paints and panel lines and detail emphasised with PITT pen. Thank you
-
Awesome work. The metal looks really well used and left to its own. I can see this plane sitting in parking just waiting to take to the skies again. Great stuff, well done.

These are lovely builds. I really like the harvard. It's not a livery I can recall but it's really lovely. Well done.

Avro Lancaster Airfix 1:72 old kit
DanSAR95 replied to DanSAR95's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Cheers guys, with regards to the runway, there is a maintenance plan soon which will see the surface looked at and, in parts relayed. It used to be an important base up until after the cold war, but then got neglected. Ha ha. Regarding my next build, I'll now spend the rest of the day deciding, tirelessly opening all my boxes, looking at the instructions, then the sprues, and repeating this continually. Regards -

Avro Lancaster Airfix 1:72 old kit
DanSAR95 replied to DanSAR95's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
And with the bbmf spitfire and a hurricane. -
Great builds very realistically executed. I wish I had the patience to make some big kits but don't and I would struggle to start one as they would be daunting, I even avoid making some 1:72 kits as they seem daunting so, bigger, no. Regards
-
Hi all, first of all, I will upload many more photos tomorrow outside with better light and im sorry for the poor quality. It is the pre 2006 BBMF Lancaster and the kit was part of a set of the bbmf. I already have the spitfire made as well as a hurricane, although I haven't started the actual bbmf hurricane yet and will post some pics of them all together tomorrow. Please look again tomorrow for more images of better quality. Many thanks

Thanks for your opinions guys, ive decided to create it matt with no gloss, except the canopy. Regards, btw, it will be finished totally tomorrow.

Seaking ride for uninjured, awesome, seaking ride for person with broken ankle, awful.
-
Hi all, I'm almost finished my very old airfix lancaster and I've actually really enjoyed building it, but the question that awaits the finish is whether or not to gloss it. Now, I know it's my decision but what do you think, would it look better with a few coats of gloss or not. I just feel I shouldn't because I can't think of any pictures whereby the lancaster looks shiny, whereas you know a kit like a hawk needs to be. Regards and opinions welcome.

Airfix 1/72 Short Stirling
DanSAR95 replied to stefanwest's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Awesome build of one of the types of ww2 RAF planes that is lesser known, wrongly. Regards -
You're pleased with the results, no wonder. What a great kit, it's a super livery, very colourful and I envy you fo that camo, I've avoided kits with it like the plague. Well done mate
