Super build. I really like aircraft in the UN livery, this would look nice on any shelf displaying models. Regards

Very nice model. It looks lovely in BA livery. Regards

I hope they advertise MZ well, ie, I hope it's clear for people passing by that there is one inside. MZ posters and Airfix, Revell, posters needed.

Dornier 335 under new management
DanSAR95 replied to Jessica's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Very interesting build, would certainly hope any British spotters looking for luftwaffe aircraft sat in Britain by AA guns had been told about this now been with the RAF or I could imagine a very red faced AA crew. Regards -
Very nice model and certainly the right decision emphasizing the details with a wash or pen etc, as it really adds another level to it. Nice camo painting too. Superb.

P3C-Orion 1/72 Hasegawa
DanSAR95 replied to Mark Strasser's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Excellent model. The paint job is top class. I've always liked the orion but cant add one to my collection as there's no room with the biggies I've got to make. Regards -
Honestly you don't have to have a steady hand, you can be as rough and as imperfect as you want, as long as the frames have paint on them. Just slop the paint on, the cocktail stick sorts it out. I forgot to say it's best to paint the whole thing before starting to cocktail stick it. On my last model, nearly the whole front section was painted black, I used the cocktail stick and it removed all that wasn't frame. Regards

A great techinque I've acquired is to use a brush that's suitable for the window or cockpit frames, one thats fairly close to the width of the frames, and roughly paint over the frames, running in the direction the frame is running in. Know while you may think, no there'll be paint where their shouldn't be, ie, away from the frames, there is, after all you quickly and roughly paint them, but you then take a wooden cocktail stick and drive it along the elevated frame. As long as you don't push the cocktail stick hard, you'll not scratch the plastic. There you are, perfectly painted windows done in hardly any time. I used to use tape and it used to annoy me how long it took, in fact, I hated masking so much, I avoided kits I had with lots of framing to the cockpits, my method posted above is crazy how quick and easy it makes the process. I've used it on my last few models and its actually fun to do. Regards

Lets be honest, PM were absolutely diabolical so that's not a miss, I can't talk on behalf of Nichimo but I hope it's got nothing to do with lack of people buying kits, im sure it doesn't. My PM freedom fighter is a joke, I bought it because I didn't believe they were that bad, but wow. It may as well be flat plastic in the shape of the plane as the detail is practical non existent.

This is a stunning build. What a lovely livery. The thing that amazes me is how you've managed to get such a pure, clean white colour. Absolutely awesome. Regards -

DanSAR95 replied to Jonners's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Nice job, them d-day stripes are beautifully eye catching. I've got this exact same kit in my ever growing stash and after seeing yours it makes me want to do mine, after the Sherman I'm working on. Regards -
Panavia Tornado F3 airfix 1:72
DanSAR95 replied to DanSAR95's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Thanks and, btw, the repairs have been delayed as the contractors went bust a week before they were to start, it will happen though. Haha Regards -
Hi all, here is my tornado F3 that ive just finished. These photos don't really show how dirty ive made her but in the plastic she is well used. Hope you like it. BTW, I lost the pitot tube off her but am getting a new brass one so this will be addressed.

I had a feeling that was the case, makes sense though so I'm not complaining. Regards

I'm surprised at bad reviews, it just slotted together great for me, I only used a bit of filler in the usual places, fuselage halves and wings to fuselage. One of my favourite builds so far. Regards
-
Yeah, I got mine from MZ. About the swastika, is there some sort of issue with companies supplying them. I'm sure I've read that people wouldn't use them if they were available. Are they not allowed to produce swastikas, are they seen as offensive even if they were just on models. I haven't seen any airfix German planes on google with swastikas.

Hi all, this kit was absolutely marvellous to build. No complaints what so ever. Its the revel reboxing of monograms kit, in fact, the stand that came with it has monogram on it. I understand that revel and Monogram are now one. I hope you like her.
-
It certainly builds into a nice kit when built. It has nice recessed panel lines and fair detail. Can't comment on if it's new or not.
-
Hi all, really wanted to start this kit for months but the camoflauge has put me off as it seems far too complex and laborious. Can anyone suggest a method that will work well and won't take an eternity. BTW, the scheme is the Argentinian airforce scheme.

And I thought my Catalina hogged alot of room. Nice build.

WH Smiths modelzone section isn't to open until November so it will be interesting popping in from now until then to see how their shaping up.

Airfix 1/72 Ilmavoimat Hawk Mk.51
DanSAR95 replied to falcon's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Very nice hawk. They do look nice in grey. May I make a suggestion, I think it would look more realistic if you emphasised the detail and the recessed lines with a pencil, oil paint, washes or pen. Nice work though. Regards -
Awesome build of a helicopter who's day are sadly nearly over in service. Love this scheme and it certainly looks realistic.
