i will miss the bluewater mz ,happy memories of a good work crowd a few years back,sdly i dont think i will be able to pop in on its last few days.

by the way i think the shops get a update today or tomorrow on the next batch of shops that are closing,some may get a stay of execution as there is still quite a bit of stock to shift,but dont hold your breath....

bromley very sparse, staff in good spirits though,paints very empty.

pressure to buy ..now theres a subject.when i was at beatties and in latter years at MZ i remember being told to aproach everyone and try to sell them something,which [under my breath i and several others ] refused to do ,model shops are not that sort of business 99percent of the year,management have never understood that and for the second time with MZ ,after the BEATTIES fiasco ,have come to find out again,model shops are for more enthusiast and discovering people of all ages,i used to go into beatties lewisham at the old rushy green shop and talk to and ask the model makers at the counter about things ,its what fed my interest and made me the sort of modeller i am ,its not down to sales and profit margins ,its down to interest and enthusiasm,i am for ever gratefull to the the people who helped me in those days.the current staff i know at the bromley MZ are those sort of people and i am sure at several other MZs throughout the country,they really are the people that have been let down by short sighted greedy management...by the way have a look at COASTAL KITS in blackpool thats a model shop!

went into the bromley store yesterday,barely any big kits left,it all looks a bit sad,kit section looking very depleted same with the paints,i didnt see anything i wanted at those prices....i will still pop in regularly to see if anything changes but i doubt it will.

didnt know russ had gone,when last there the chap told me he had used the same till since 1958!!

not really a lot of stock and i see a lot is face out, with nothing behind it. same in most of their shops im sad to say...

we couldnt sell enough of those in beatties lewisham back in the day,very hard to find nowdays though.

ive been watching the old BSG,it makes me cringe...this is a lovely model and i must get one,i have the cylon raider in the stash which i may start soon.

sadly i have found that you can go into most shopping areas where muddlezone have their shops and see thousands of shoppers but when you walk into a muddlezone there is no one in them,ok beatties used to be quiet during the week but they used to survive by the weekend shoppers,we used to work all week to get the shop more or less ready for the weekend,i did notice that when i went back into the model business after 23 years away it had changed beyond recognition,it came as quite a shock,i thought these shops cant survive like this surely?i could go on with comparisons between then and now but it has already been covered by previous posts.

i think a new blenheim is on the cards,they seem to be redoing all their BoB stuff,may even get a decent new dornier17 or he111...

wish i had joined earlier, would have been a change,saw the real thing at brands the other week,off to see the real thing though in september in dover delaware,cant wait!

well i popped into mz bromley and got more tamiya paint,they have a very realistic view on how its going,very quiet in there, mind you it was 9;30am,they did say it has been going well though,stock beginning to thin out.found out also that there is a good little model shop in rochester just half hour away by train must check it out.

long long overdue. but we will probably end up with another spitfire......
