  1. Thank you. Thanks. Indeed, it's a technique with the great potential. After current experience with mottling / marbling (still basic) I have some ideas (improvments?) for the next models. Good opportunity to develop the skills.
  2. Good morning, Some progress on Spitfire, final version of the camouflage already done. There is still a space for improvements but... that's enough, next models are waiting. AK RC Middle Stone is a bit strange. Not sand, not yellow ochre, rather orange tint. Dark Earth is not fully "Dark Earth" as well. Next time I will use another paints for desert scheme (Hataka Orange?). Some pics - before and after.
  3. Good evening Gentelman. Würger is back. I have concluded that first preshading of upper surfaces was not the good approach and I decided to do the white marbling over RLM 74 / 75 once again. In the meantime I modified a bit the painting of propeller blades, spinner and wheels. I think they are better now. I applied RLM 74 / 75 - it was still the combination of basic colors mixed with white in ratio 4:1. AK RC 278 + Gunze H 69. I have finished the underside using Gunze H 417 / RLM 76 in the same style - basic color combined with white. Shortly summarizing: combination of heavily diluted paint and low pressure is the easiest approach to achieve the diversified appearance of painted surfaces. Still prior to the weathering. While SPITFIRE preshading was the learning from Würger's preshading the final painting of Würger is the learning from Spitfire.
  4. So preshading is finally done... After five days of merciless fighting. But let's come back to the beginning The first layer was tamiya XF 19 Sky Grey as a base and Gunze H 11 over grey as a marbling. Basic contrast was less in comparison to the Würger because of the lighter shade of grey base. On the underside I've added marbling using Gunze H 314 which has a "cold" light blue tint. Because the camouflage is Desert type I added tamiya XF 10 to the upper surfaces. I started the painting with AK RC 290 RAF Sky type S on the bottom. The upper surfaces are the mix of RAF Dark Earth AK RC 287 + RAF Middle Stone AK RC 292 with 50% of AK RC004 white. The external "transit" fuel tank is painted with AK RC 289 RAF Medium Sea Grey Preshading is done so it's a time to build up the final colors (with AK RC of course). I really like this stage - the final camouflage... And one last picture - friends will be friends. Forever.
  5. Thank you. It's a simple and easy trick: 1. cockpit green (RC293) 2. then Sky on the centre of the panels (RC290) 3. black on the instruments 4. gloss varnish 5. wash AK for green vehicles along the frames and stringers 6. matt varnish 7.silver, drybrushed on the black instruments 8 AK engine grime applied on the wet white spirit on the panels, one by one That's all. And the cockpit looks like a worn one.
  6. Good morning Gentelmen, It's very rare situation when I build two models simultaneously. It's being done to implent immediately all new ideas experienced over Würger's painting process (which is a new style for me) and do that in an orderly way. Spitfire is another Tamiya's classic (I've built already two of them), very easy and enjoyable kit, frankly speaking it's nothing to build like in Wurger's case. Fitting is nearly perfect. Planned marking is ES276 WDoD flown by Sylvan Sid Feld from 4 sqn. 52 FG of USAAF. I'm going to build WDoQ as well but this time with Eduard kit. Out of the box build. Few parts in the cockpit, painted: Assembled together: Canopy masked with Scotch 3M and Spitfire is ready. Nearly... Few touches needed to prepare the model for painting. Let's see what I've learned painting the Würger. :) So it begins...
  7. Nearly... Frankly speaking I've opened the box and started the building two years ago. Really time consuming Wurger. Especially because there's nothing to build, even new Eduard is more sophisticated.
  8. Good morning Gentelmen, Coming back to the hobby after a long break... My choise was Tamiya's Focke Wulf, simple and easy kit but still looking as the Würger. Out of the box except the main wheels and the guns in the wings. I have decided to buid something hmm... untypical: Fw 190A-3 "ausländisch" from Türk Hava Kuvvetleri, "Karabas" Filo (Filo means a squadron). So the cocpit and interior at first - XF 63 as a RLM66 + dark oil wash. The building was simple, easy and enjoable - kit is not overingeneered. I used 3M Scotch tape to mask the canopy. The next stage was preshading: white irregular pattern over XF 24 Dark Grey. I have added the basic colors: RLM74 / AK RC278 + RLM75 / Gunze H69 + RLM76 / Gunze H417, heavily diluted with the Gunze Leveling Thinner, sprayed with the low pressure. Based on that I have some ideas for the next model, lets see how it works... That's enough with preshading, let me check how the next steps working. See you soon!
  9. Amazing model. With realistic painting and weathering. Very impressive!
  10. It was quite easy - I used different shades of grey + white doing preshading and I've finished airframe with oils.
  11. Just finished MiG 3 early version. Trumpeter kit with some Eduard PE parts the rest is oob. Sprayed with Gunze acrylics, weathered with AK, Ammo and Tamiya products. Hope you like it!
  12. Typical Arkadian style. Excellent as usual.
  13. No doubts - one of the best Airfix Mk I which I've seen in the net. Good job.
  14. French aircrafts are really colorful especially those Vichy ones so that was a reason why I decided to build this yellow tail Dewoitine. And I'm sure that I'll go back to this subject again to build another Dewoitine but from Battle of France period. Generally AdA aircrafts are very interesting from modellers pov however, availability of good stuff is rather poor. For example the fighters - except Tamiya's D.520 we have only ancient Curtiss and MS 406 models from Hobbycraft or short run Morane from AZ. Unfortunately.
  15. Tamiya 1/48 D.520 built out of the box. I've added only photo-etched seat belts, decals from Iliad Design D.520 set. Aircraft from GC II/3 flown by Commandant Jules Morlat, Alep-Nerab Syria 1941. Model painted with gunze and tamiya acrylics, weathered with oils and pigments, chipping done with pencil. Really enjoyable kit. Feel free to comment.
  16. Really nice model with excellent paintwork and weathering. Good pics too.
  17. Really nice. Something different and fresh in comparison to roundels or crosses. I like it.
  18. Thank you very much. I use Nikon D80 (in manual mode) + tripod, light box and 3 x 65 W (325 equivalent) lamps. First I applied grey and then strongly diluted black trying to do the dark streaks across the blade. Then I used Dust Effect from Ak, the chipping is done with silver pencil.
  19. Few pics of another model finished in June - Tamiya 1:48 Spitfire Mk I. I've added Eduard photo-etched zoom and resin exhaust originally dedicated to new Airfix Mk I/V. Decals from Aeromaster set 48-679 BoB Spitfires 1940. Model painted with Gunze / Tamiya acrylics, weathered with AK and MiG oils, tamiya sticks and metallic pencils. Thanks for watching.
