TBD-1 Devastator VT-3 Midway Part II
28ZComeback replied to Rod bettencourt's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
This is a fitting tribute to the VT-3 TBD squadron that flew into the strength of the Japanese fleet at Midway, and the skilled sailors who maneuvered the planes on a tight deck in the heat of battle. -

Thank you again for your thoughtful explanation of your techniques. Your modeling is art! -
1/48 Hurribomber Mk.IIb from ARMA Hobby

Everything about this diorama is perfect. I especially like the finish on the Hurricane and bombs. Very subdued but ultimately pleasing and realistic. -

Beautiful finish and build Peter. Would you mind sharing which products were used and techiniques used to obtain the aluminum high speed silver finish? -
I am hedging my bets that SBS will pop out the following; replacement nacelles; wheels; detailed cockpit and bomb bay.

Thank you model doc. That must be where I got the idea as I put it in my notes. Would you happen to know the source, either in a book or magazine? I would really appreciate the reference. I know of one small plane defection (because I talked to a pilot who was training the ROK unit) and I believe it was a L-19 in 1952. Also I read that a South Korean defected in a F-51D.

Can anyone confirm the strange story of the defection of Geum Ryong Paik, a Korean who stole a light plane and defected to North Korea prior to the outbreak of hostilities? Some sources say he took a L-4 (that was painted grey and given North Korean markings by the new owners). Thank you for any links or ideas about researching this peculiar incident.

Looks nice!! I have the HC kit in my collection but imagine I will be adding this, maybe in Syrian colors.

Has anyone used the Kazan 3D aftermarket products for the 1/48 Tamiya P-38F, G H or J? I am wondering about the level of detail and fit. Thank you.

Good morning mates, This is a photo of a 77th Bomb Squadron B-25J stationed in the Aleutians in 1944. The J models I have seen are typically bare metal or overall silver; this B-25 appears to be almost tan in color. Can anyone identify the color? My eye sight is deficient I can’t tell either way. Thank you in advance. https://www.nps.gov/media/photo/gallery-item.htm?pg=1313579&id=a6d506d9-1dd8-b71c-0748-bcff3ffe720b&gid=A6E45C6B-1DD8-B71C-071E58B2F3B7FD76

The F-86H would be of great interest. Lots of color scheme/ markings options. -

In keeping with their history, I would suggest a Douglas F3D Skynjght in 1/48. There is a CzechModel kit but it’s from a different decade. Another kit that would be cool is a 1/48 Yak-25 Flashlight. Or a 1/48 Supermarine Swift. -
Greetings all, I am interested in Operation Plum Duff of the Falklands War, and am very intrigued by the idea of using the beautiful Airfix Westland Sea King (1/48) as the basis the the stripped down HC.4 Sea King used in the operation. Can anyone speak to what is basically involved in building an accurate Plum Duff Sea King? For example, would special landing gear struts need to be scratch-built? Thank you for any response.

RS Models 1/72 Airspeed Envoy
28ZComeback replied to Colin1967's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Sorry to resurrect this ancient thread, but in the preceding nine years, has anyone produced a 1/48 Envoy? In this age of 3D printing and such, I would not be surprised if such a kit exists, perhaps built in small numbers? Thank you for any response. -

This is a modeling triumph!! -
Thank you for the review and helpful comments. Does anyone know if any aftermarket, resin or etched, has been announced? I am anxious to start my Gannet as a Cypriot bird with yellow stripes.

The new engine, cowl and rockets make a big difference. An extraordinary build and finish!
