  1. Thanks all for the kind comments, and I'm pleased to say I have sorted my back end out too, so to speak: - Kev
  2. Guy, Yes........................... Lost the motivation on a number of occasions on this one, but sticking at it has made me a better modeller I think. Never made anything bigger than 48th so it was a real eye opener. Kev
  3. Difficult model that causes all sorts of inner conflicts throughout the build, but well worth it in the end so when you do start Terry, stick with it!!
  4. Cheers Pete, always loved it as a helicopter, functional I think is the phrase....................
  5. It is a big lad Rodders, here it is next to a 48th scale Sea King at box opening back in November: -
  6. Hi All, Four months work has culminated in a result I'm very pleased with. It wasn't without copious amounts of swearing along the way though. A tough build, but a rewarding build in the end: - Kev

  9. Thanks F-32 and Alex, comments very much appreciated, particularly around the weathering given it was a 'trial' effect. I intend to do a couple of Intruders with this effect now over the next few months too. My next in the list of favourites after the Tomcat of USN subjects. Kev
  10. Hi All, The aircraft that was a practice for technique for the F-14, complete today, and with her bigger ship mate: - Kev
  11. Thanks flashman, first time trying a new angle on weathering with my Tamiya weathering kit. I usually just run it along panel lines but I always had a bit of a thing for USN since being a kid around the Top Gun era. Back then I used to come out wth some terrible results when I didn't have patience or the skills. This time being my first USN aircraft since then, I wanted to really go to town and go for that unique USN look. I used the soot from the Tamiya kit within each panel line, and lighter on the panel lines themselves so I pretty much had a soot over grey aircraft. I then used the white 'snow' powder in the same weathering set to start picking out panels or panel lines, and you see the result. I was very pleased with it, but I have to say after a two hour decal session on this I did try my methods out on a Hornet I've been making at the same time just, so I didn't undo all that work I'd completed on her to that point. And thanks Parabat, I was pleased with the final outcome on this first Tomcat for 'some years'. Kev
  12. Thanks Paul, many thanks for the kind comments. Kev
