  1. I was intrigued by the decal options; tempted to add it to my list to build as a Greek example!
  2. Thanks, Christer. Having tested the fuselage fit (not quite as good as it was before I started putting plastic inside, but not bad), the cockpit area looks like it'll be quite visible, so I'm going to put some washes down on that area to bring out the detail a bit more. It's certainly busy, and all those little red levers make it quite colourful. I'm going to leave the final construction as late as possible, and those Brassin guns are going to be just about the last sub-assembly to go in. Last night I went back to the wings and started on the u/c. That looks sturdy enough to withstand handling during painting, so I'm less worried about that than the guns.
  3. Work on the interior has continued, and I think it's finally there. Here's the starboard cockpit: And I decided to add some of Eduard's finest. This is the Brassin set that covers the two UBT MGs in the dorsal and ventral positions: I am particularly looking forward to parts R15, which look easy to handle...
  4. Heck of a result, Johnny. As for the next 'un, would love to see you have a go at the Henschel.
  5. Photos I've seen have them as oxidised metal, very matte, with a thin band of shinier metal at the tip Glad to hear that you had an awesome honeymoon.
  6. Thanks from me, too, @TEMPESTMK5. Very much enjoyed both my builds and the excellent builds on display.
  7. Sending strength vibes to you, PC, along with birthday good wishes to Winnie. I was doing quite well until I acquired four kits at a show at the weekend. My current psychological trick, whenever I am tempted by something on ebay, is to schedule out my next five planned builds and see how long that might take me. By the time I've agonised over that (never the same list twice), the urge to buy has usually diminished.
  8. Well, after that I was distracted by a kit on the shelf of impending doom: a Bf110G-2 which I have now finished. In celebration, I went to the St Ives Model Show today and was, as usual, stunned at some of the displays. The Trumpeter German railway locomotives were well represented, including one enormous display incorporating the locomotive, some flak guns, two tanks on low-loaders, and a railway gun! There were a lot of splendid AFVs with crew, too, and my son has asked me to build him a tank, so I guess that's what's going to be up next. I did get some random "bargains", including my first ever airliner (S&M's Vickers Viscount), two ancient Tamiya 1/100 kits (a Beagle and an A-6 Intruder), and a Trumpeter 1/72 Beagle for good measure. But with all that excitement out of the way, it's back to the bomb bay. Getting the four bombs to fit was rather tricky, and it then turns out that the upper two are invisible once built. And with the fuselage closed up to test the fit. Not much to see for an evening's work! I used Humbrol paint on the bombs, and it seems to have a slightly glossy finish. I'll decal and then try out some of the new matt varnish that I acquired today (Mig's Lucky Varnish, which has had some mixed reviews).
  9. I think the Spitfire is looking rather good; sure that you'll deal with the forensic evidence with elan. And while I envy your skill with small aircraft, I don't envy your job in the slightest!
  10. Once again, your determination to see things right astounds me, Johnny.
  11. Great news, Jon. I feel your pain on the multi-part approach.
  12. Much of last night was spent hunting for the camera battery charger, one of those pieces of electrical equipment that finds its way into drawers of stuff-of-uncertain-origin-and-function, of which we have many in this household. The hunt was fruitless, so I've resorted to my phone camera. The cockpit interior: And attention then turns, following the instructions, to the bomb bay. Zvezda's bombs are nice four part constructions that fit seamlessly (once again): Four of them to make, paint and decal.
  13. That is, I believe, an auxiliary air door necessitated by the Spey's greater demand for air.
  14. Just how much of your house do you really need, anyway?
  15. Nice work, George. I thought the flying was good yesterday given the constant rain. Highlights for me were the Vampires, the Typhoon display, the first sight for me of the A400M and F-35, and the sound of 19 Spitfires starting up while the Red Arrows display.
  16. Those seven months were well spent, Romain, that's a splendid outcome.
  17. Looks like a lovely Lizzie to me. Sadly, I didn't see one fly yesterday at Duxford;; not sure whether that was because of the rain or it just happened when we were trying to warm the children up in one of the hangars.
  18. Excellent choice, Ced (the subject, I have no knowledge of the kit).
  19. Thanks Gorby, something to check. I concur that this appears to be an excellent kit, but it is parts heavy. Not a problem if you take it steadily, though, I think.
