  1. I shall add my voice to the chorus of huzzahs. It certainly makes me want to emulate your cockpit, though my skills are inadequate, I fear.
  2. Wow, six weeks fly by. Sorry, I thought I'd posted a bit more than I had. Construction is done - OOB Academy so not of great interest as the fit is excellent. I tried several methods of sorting out the cowling flaps, didn't like any of them, and put the model aside to think. On returning, I discovered that my last effort was sufficiently permanent that trying to undo it risked destroying the cowling altogether, so I'm stuck with it. Please don't look too closely. Base paint is on: Vallejo Model air for the OD and white, and Lifecolor for the Neutral Gray. The latter caused conniptions when a large gooey bit clogged my airbrush good and proper; I'm not sure whether it came direct from the paint tin, or whether it reacted to some left-over thinner/cleaner in the brush. A rarity for me: I pre-shaded some of the panels and the ailerons, and I'm pretty happy with the result. The white is intentionally patchy and will be touched up later, though I'm irked that I forgot to mask off the rectangle on the tail for the serial number.
  3. That looks like top surgery, Jamie. Wouldn't have known that the razor saw had been employed.
  4. She's usually underground in the nest. Start digging and you'll find her, though I reckon it's been so warm this year that some nests are abandoned already.
  5. I don't think the credit lies wholly with Eduard; I could only achieve a similar result with that plastic in my dreams. I fell a little in love with the 21 when building Eduard's 1/48 R, but it'd be easier to have multiple examples in 1/72.
  6. Gabor, that cockpit looks incredible. Wonderfully skilled execution of the art.
  7. That interior is really coming together well, and the background history is fascinating.
  8. Interesting experiment, Ced. I don't think the Citadel paints are going to be sold to many who read this thread. Are you using the Vallejo Model Air or the Vallejo Metal Colour paints (I love the latter for both hairy stick and blowpipe application)? I don't normally soak my nozzle separately, but I do leave some neat thinner in the paint cup after cleaning. I find at the moment it usually evaporates after a few days anyway, so I don't think that will help much as I guess any dissolved paint will precipitate back out as it evaporates. I have a similar nozzle reamer from Harder & Steenbeck that is great for their brushes, but nothing suitable for the altogether more flimsy and easily lost Iwata nozzle.
  9. Really nice scheme and finish, that's superb.
  10. Wow, that's really striking! I'm not sure what another gloss coat would add.
  11. Very nice, Ced. But never mind Jimmy Stewart; the two on the left bear a striking resemblance to Alec Stewart (and the two dancers on the right look like Jack Dee).
  12. That's a beast, Ced. I'd grab a front row seat but those wings might put my eye out.
  13. Nice return to action, Jon, that's looking good.
  14. Thanks for your kind words, all of you. A lack of mojo and some difficulty in sorting out the early (full) cowling flaps on my other Academy Razorback has stalled that build, unfortunately.
  15. Fascinating bit of kit research! I think Xtradecal do alternate markings if you wanted to go that route.
  16. Having set a reminder for Flying Across Britain, I promptly missed it by two hours; thank goodness for catch-up. That sounds like it's unmissable TV, which I don't think it is, but I enjoy his understated presenting style, and he had me looking up the price of a vintage Piper Cub (as one might expect, not as much as I feared, but rather more than I hoped!) The Canberra segment was an eye opener, though; I'd missed the media reports about that photo some years ago. Not by the RAF, they retired the PR9 in 2006. Not sure about the Chileans; apparently they were supplied with three PR9s but wiki doesn't have them listed in their current inventory. XH134 was apparently the last airworthy PR9, and it was displayed until a few years ago, after which its owner went bankrupt and it was up for sale. Pretty certain that that was the one that featured in Flying Across Britain. Poked around? Looks bloody marvellous, Ced.
  17. Thanks; that's very kind of you to say. It's one of my better NMF efforts, not that there have been many, though I should really get some more shades so that I can differentiate some panels. The decals are just one of those things. Frustrating because I know better. Ah, well, two Tamiya kits should be arriving tomorrow, so plenty of opportunity to improve!
  18. Thanks, Steve, and thanks, Stix. I finished KT2 off last weekend, I think, but non-modelling stuff has taken over most of this week, and I'm struggling to get decent photos to post in the gallery. In the meantime, here's what I've just taken As you can see, only some relatively light weathering around the port wing root, and to bring out the panel lines on the markings and the control surfaces.
  19. Camo looks good, Christer. I think the demarcation is sharp enough, no need to worry about that.
  20. Following this one, PC, cool choice (thanks to your colleague, too)
  21. Nice start; I'd like to do a Wild Weasel airframe but I need to clear out some of the stash first.
  22. Yeah, you did a good job of getting the bloodstains off the floor. Have you tested with luminol? Always love seeing photos of the stash, and that wing looks like it's gone on very nicely.
  23. October, I think, but like you I have a B-17 (Airfix in my case) waiting to come to the plate. And, like Michelle, I'm going to be doing a 91BG build, so I'm looking forward to seeing Little Miss Mischief come together.
