  1. A bit of a reach I know but can anyone point me in the direction of a page in here or site that can give me a heads up on which Mr Hobby Aqueous paints I can use for the above, to include webbing, packs et al. Some of the colour call outs I'm seeing on things like Miniart seem a bit bizarre, i.e a yellow green for the all-in-one tanker suit. I'm also interested in colours for the soft materials (bed rolls, tarps etc) that would have been carried by AFV's/softskins. Many thanks for any input
  2. Oh, they'll be added to the ever long list of projects. This one intrigues me in particular because it's been badly smashed up so bringing it back to life in some way appeals to me, even if there's a slight whiff of whatiffery about it!
  3. @PeteH1969 I have literally just found the same pic on t'interweb and was about to post it. Many thanks for your efforts and everyone else' input.
  4. I suspect it is something of that order but I can't seem to match it up with anything yet.
  5. I have recently had come into my possession a large quantity of started AFV's and trucks, most of which I've identified, however, the vehicle in the attached pics is a completely trashed resin kit of something. I don't know my trucks from my elbow so can anyone tell me what it is and which model company makes/made it. Many thanks in anticipation.
  6. It looks a great kit but I really don't get the nigh on £100 price tag!
  7. Thanks for the input folks. I found an interesting document purporting to be from the WW2 US Navy "Blue Jackets" manual showing these colours, so it would appear that this branch of the US services had colours to indicate content. Would it be too much of a stretch to imagine that this would be the case across the board? https://images4.sw-cdn.net/product/picture/710x528_19295812_11225063_1523447847.jpg
  8. Sorry, not sure if this is the right place for this. I'm trying to find a definitive list/examples for the colours of CO2, Oxy, Argon etc compressed gas cylinders. I appreciate that, for the most part, they are various shades of "drab", I was just wondering what a) the underlying (civvy) colours were and b) what was used to differentiate what gas was in what cylinder. And yes, I have been Googling without much joy! 🤪 Many thanks for any links etc.
  9. Doh, doh, doh, doh effing doh!! Thought I would check out the "old paints" that these replaced (I never throw anything away....) and guess what. Yes, the "old paints" that I had kept and stored away in the garage were actually the new, replacement paints. Mike, please leave this post up so that everyone can have a good laugh at my expense and if anyone from AK should happen to cruise by, my apologies.
  10. Thanks for getting back Colin. There's plenty of carrier medium in there, it's full to the neck of the bottles. I'm not sure the paint mixer is going to break down those lumps, they're like hard sand. Thanks for the input, much appreciated.

  12. Hi Folks I've just opened two of the AK Xtreme Metal paints that I have in my collection and they are unusable. These are replacements direct from AK that I got for the bad batch they put out some years ago and I've had them for about a year. They've never been opened until today and despite copious shaking, stirring, stirring and shaking, they are like my wife's mashed spuds, runny with lumps in. Any ideas as to the cause (not for the spuds)? Has this happened to anyone else? Any ideas about rectifying this? They've been kept in a cool dark place since I got them so I'm at a loss as to why they won't mix; I've got enamel paints that are 25+ years old and they're still good!!
  13. Cheers for the heads up. Just re-read my original post.... "having...."! Back to school.........
  14. Great review as always. Having been waiting for this. Don't suppose you know whether the track sets are out (or did it slip me by?).
  15. Thank you so very much for that XV107 , means a lot. Thank you.
  16. Thanks Paul, yes, I've seen those. Not quite sure about the "for good reason" bit, what I mean is, we've seen plenty of names released of pilots involved in accidents, whether it be due to mechanical failure or their own fault, but hey-ho.
  17. Does anyone happen to know the name of the student killed in this accident. A friend is building this aircraft and would like to add his name as a mark of respect. I've tried very hard to find it with no luck. Many thanks for any input.
  18. Thanks for the input everyone. Decisions, decisions!
  19. Gentlefolk I'm toying with upping my airbrush options. I have an Aztek 470 (expensive at the time and hated), premi-air something or other which is quite reasonable and a Veda Iwata clone which is a belter (for what it cost!). I'm looking at the Harder & Steenbeck Evolution Silverline fPc Two In One or the Neo for Iwata TRN1 Gravity Feed Pistol Trigger. I like the look of the Iwata, simply because of the trigger and the fact that my fat fingers seem to be losing any connection with reality, however, the Steenbeck reviews are off the charts and the 2 in 1 fPc seems a relative bargain. I appreciate that it's a subjective (and at times, emotive!!) subject, but, thoughts? Opinions? Bribes? I thank ya.
  20. Graeme, thanks for chipping in, much as I understood it "from the horses mouth" as it were. I have someone telling me elsewhere that there was but he hasn't come up with any evidence to back it up to date. I just need to be absolutely sure as my pa in law wasn't with them from day 1 as it were. As for PPA themselves, they were tasked with demolitions, mostly fuel dumps and general disruption of Axis supplies when in N Africa, although there is no doubt that Popski's prior time in NA served him well in gathering intel from locals and they did spend a lot of time "watching".......
  21. A long shot I know but, does anyone know of or can point me in the direction of records for combined ops PPA + SAS, PPA + LRDG or PPA + SAS/LRDG. Just to answer a niggle. My father in law, ex-PPA, never mentioned either other than the "borrowing " of some of their kit in N Africa......... Thanks in advance for any help. Iain
  22. What a fine build, however, I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings but AFV researchers got the vehicle name wrong. It should read "Cyd Charisse", after the actress. Sorry!
