  1. Hi all, Just a quick build here, nothing fancy. It's a nice kit but has fit issues as you might see below. Nothing some filler and sanding blocks won't cure though. Definately think these newer kits are slightly less well molded than previous. Comparing my Airfix 1/48 meteor, the plastic in that kit seems of better quality and the surface features etc are more delicate and better defined. Cheers
  2. Not good. I'd send that back. QC must be lacking.
  3. Ah Sorry Dalek! I just spotted this comment. I think Tigers got a pretty good deal from tank fate....Eh? Tank fate....Ok.... Not sure what that is even though I just thought it up. I still havent made any progress on this but thoughts of enhancing sherman bashers are not front and center in my small brain
  4. Nice build. Really like the semi-gloss finish over the usual glossy one.
  5. That is stunning. Both in its concept and execution. If only Ferrari would make this 😊. Superb effort.
  6. Hi Adam, Would recommend it. Its got that really interesting blend of crap 1930's bomber and oriental design flair.
  7. Hi Troy, Thanks for the reply. I think the nose section thats still to be added will sort the front misalignment. Its the left side fuselage that is bent a bit. Not that obvious in the picture. Should be fine though.
  8. Hello all, Box art caught my eye and since I've never built a Japanese aircraft kit, thought I'd have a stab. This plane seems to feature pretty highly in the new and from the trailers at least, pretty awful remake of Midway. So.... Really like the shape of this bomber and going for the natural metal scheme. £18.99 seems a bit pricey for this kit???? The nose is warped as well which doesn't help. Rest looks good though 😊 Misaligned nose. Might be OK though.. And some work in the interior Looks a bit too green at the moment but will lighten up highlighting. Thanks for looking in.
  9. Looking really good. Love these large scale car kits.
  10. Thanks Cadman. I actually went off and learned a bit more about that part of the "British" civil war. And yes, what a brave and inventive woman she was. Yes, the path was interesting..
  11. Superb! Really evocative. I visted Dunnottar castle a year or so ago which probably played an important role in this part of the conflict. Sad really, so much anger and venom over ideas and concepts. Really has left its mark too sadly. But, we move on and we move forward together
  12. Hi Badder, Many thanks for your kind and helpful comments! Also the link, really useful I was actually thinking about a sort of Sci-Fi alternate reality sherman. In that context, I'd be adding reactive armour, enhanced sights and possibly a power source I dont know yet. I like your suggestion of a late war 8 with bolted on armour and I've seen a few images of such. I actually have the old Dragon 1/35 Thunderbolt easy 8 and this has the additional armour....Got me thinking now thanks! Just started work on the base so depending on how that turns out, I'll make the choice. Cheers!
  13. hello all, Apologies for the possibly confusing title but I'm at a fork in the road as it were. I was intending to build this Tamiya 1/48 m4a3e8 as an end of war example possibly near the Reichstag..... I think that might be too ambitious on reflection as my building and diorama skills are still growing. I really like the shape of the easy 8 and wanting to try a bit of historical accuracy, I began the research on colour etc. I gave up 😕. The subject of olive drab still fascinates me as I'm sure it does many of you good people but it's a tricky old topic with a multitude of correct and almost correct conclusions. So, I painted the tank in an undercoat if Tamiya NATO black. The OD was vallejo modelair OD which I found a bit gray but not to bad. Nowhere near the shade I'd Pullman Green........ Reference?😊. Anyway, I bought some Windsor and Newton oils (yellow ochre and black) and did what DuPont did and got OD. I used this more as a light weathering and highlighting medium but I like the result so far I'm still working on the weathering and detailing etc and have a long way to go.... Regarding the odd title of my post, I got to wondering if maybe I could expand my frontiers a bit and go down an alternative reality route with this build.....im thinking spaced armour, a few futuristic touches....? I got this far So not very far then... Going to work on the base and see how that goes. Thanks for wasting a few minutes of your day in here 😊
  14. Really like that. Love the simple black and white contrast.
