  1. You're still doing good at 1/72, Bill - in fact, excellent! But 1/48 is tempting, isn't it? Ciao
  2. I love 'em both, but I think the second one shows the job you've done better. Excellent! Ciao
  3. They're both great, Dennis, but I love the metallic one! Ciao
  4. This is looking seriously good, Cookie! A very successful metal experiment, if you ask me! Ciao
  5. Good job on the polishing, Simon May I suggest a coat of Aqua Gloss or similar clear gloss to complete it? Ciao
  6. Very much looking forward to how the chipping will come out - neat painting job so far Ciao
  7. I'm not sure why I bought a biplane kit... and a FLY one, on too of that.... I will ask for assistance, when the time comes Ciao
  8. Thanks both, guys! The pic Tomas posted shows the same distributors Alain @corsaircorp sent me and - as far as I can tell - those should be the same as seen on the pic I posted above. Ciao
  9. So you are going to build a 1/48 version, right? Top job on the blades and rotor! Ciao
  10. Cheers Steve, thank you! So we are playing the "P" game, aren't we? Thanks Dennis, much appreciated 1/32 is a scale that scares me, I'd go mad with details.... Thanks Simon More details below Thank you Alan Maybe I'm just doing all this stuff to postpone painting... Who am I kidding, I love painting! Thanks for the tip, Bill - it makes a lot of sense (terrific cockpit there, BTW ) In this case, I thought immediately of CA+flour because one of the knobs has a flat end, so I basically added a bit of glue and a bit of flour at a time, gently pressing it against a flat surface before it became hard. Once I had those out, I did the round knob too - no doubt it would have come out better your way... Next time! Thanks Terry, glad you like it And here's the other player... I'll take the praise, anyway Very little to report, I spent a truly inordinate amount of time trying to better define a couple of levers on the aft part of both side consoles: Apologies for the blurry pics.... Then I cleaned up the resin seat framing, by drilling some holes in the excess resin and refining the job with a sharp blade, a diamond file and some sandpaper I then glued it to the bulkhead, first with Gator's Grip to allow some wiggling in the positioning, then securing it with CA I think it's almost time for paint in the cockpit... All comments welcome Ciao
  11. The top seam seams to be gone.... Steady going, Simon Ciao
  12. Cheers P, thanks! Thanks Alain, glad to have you on board! It was about time I got back to figure painting... Thank you Mike, much appreciated! Cheers Keith You are right, in the end I was happy with the result, so totally worth it Well, dedicated to your wife then - please pass my regards to her Alright, busy time but today I set myself to complete the face painting - and I did The following pics show a sequence of painting highlights and tying them in with the rest, each time adding Lifecolor Skin Tone to the mix and tying in with a mix of the previous shade and the new, applied as a filter. For example, for the first stage I mixed some skin tone with the base color, and painted the highlights: Then I mixed this ... mix with the base tone paint, thinned a lot with water, and brushed on as a filter to smooth the transitions between one shade to another, to wit: I repeated this process a few times, each time adding more skin tone and painting a lighter shade: Once I was happy with it, I painted the hair and beard: the base coat is Lifecolor Tan followed by a mix of Tan and Sand Yellow, then Yellow and a final Yellow drybrush I painted the lips with a mix of red and brown, adding then some skin tone to obtain the final effect. I also added an overall wash, using the base tone and mixing it with brown and black. The helmet straps were painted too, with a mix of black and brown and highlights with Tan and Sand Yellow I also used a very thinned red filter on the cheeks, nostrils and, as a wash, in the inner corner of the eyes. A final flat coat sealed the job: I've already started working on the helmet, but that's for next time. All comments welcome Ciao
  13. Looks like you had a full month, Bill! Young Carter is doing just great with his modelling! Leaves... don't get me started on those... Ciao
  14. That is quite the gap, Simon - but with pressure applied, as you said, it should close up nicely. At least is quite regular both sides, so it should be an easy fix anyway Ciao
  15. @2996 Victor and @Tomas Enerdal, here I am with the pics. the first shows the (very simplified) rendition of the Tamiya kit The second shows the resin distributors Alain @corsaircorp sent me I'm not clear if they are supposed to be the same thing, and I'm also not clear if the resin parts represent what I see in this pic, coming from @Tailspin Turtle's blog (source: https://tailspintopics.blogspot.com/search?q=f4u-1😞 The engine on the left, of course. Thanks in advance for any help, and apologies Mark @2996 Victor for hijacking your thread... Ciao
  16. Brilliant Terry, but if you really want to sound Italian, you should instead write "Idem" Ciao
  17. Looking suitably busy to me, Bill Ciao PS: is this actually 1/72nd?
  18. Apologies not needed - take your time Mark, I'm in no hurry. Thanks Ciao
