  1. Once again this old crutch was lying around, and when I was cleaning up my office I suddenly had the thing in my hand. Somewhere I still had an injection molding frame from a Bf 110G that was reordered in 2010 (complaint) and never picked up. After a correspondingly long time, the spare part became my property. And the two together resulted in a renovation idea that immediately came to mind. Old kits are ideal for this! Before my executor goes crazy over the unbuilt kits, I'd better start one more The model for this is the aviation collection "Flugzeug International #13, page 1939 ff. Then I also found an ominous conversion plan that was only correct in that it could be used to guide where and how the new engine should be installed.
  2. A UM kit of a Bg 109G got lost with me and has now become a victim of my building obsession. However - not another run-of-the-mill version, but something special. There was once a conversion kit for this in 1/32 scale, but in 1/48 it wasn't even thought of. So the man is himself. The Ga-6 version was manufactured under license in Hungary. Some of these machines came around. Luftwaffe around 1948/49. And these machines were modified a bit, I didn't really understand the reason for that, weapon modifications, engine modifications - I don't really know. I started looking for some images as templates and was disappointed that they became fewer and fewer and eventually disappeared completely from forums and reports. But - I secured these for the purpose of the image template and I don't want to withhold them from you. This is the kit from UM:
  3. The MPM kit (48028) is nothing more than a modified Fw 190A-5/A-8 from Dragon. The Basuatz is pretty bad, the kit parts are made using the short run process, some are quite thick and inaccurate. They don't fit properly at the front and back. That's why I decided to use a real old Dragon kit for this version and the fuselage, decals and a sprayed canopy (not from MPM, unknown manufacturer) and the resin parts from the MPM kit. The Dragon kit isn't a big stunner, but the parts are cleanly molded and smooth.
  4. Unfortunately, there are very few photo documents from the early days. This Fw 190 A-2 "CM+CK" with the WNr. 312 was assigned to the Herrmann night fighter test command to test the nighttime interception of RAF bombers and Mosquitoes by single-engine fighters operating from Brandenburg-Briest over Berlin - based on the so-called "Wilde Sau" tactic. An earlier photo document from Ofw. Hans Müller (NJVK/ JG300/ JG302/ JG301) was from the rear of this machine with the “Wilde Sau” pilots, Ofw. Hans Müller, Unknown, Ofw. Josef Wirth. (find it on my website WWW.JG300.de): from left to right: Fw. Hans Müller, unknowing, Ofw. Josef Wirth in front of Fw 190A-2 CM+CK, Wnr:312 These four pictures shows the plane that apparently flew, Officer Müller, and was shot at by anti-aircraft guns. He was only able to make an emergency landing. with great difficulty. former FW. Hans Müller in the year 1999 in Berlin-Gatow Museum: This Fw 190A has a special feature: The identifier CK+CK does NOT correspond to the German standard labels. I redesigned these letters and had them created using a plotter and then airbrushed them onto the model.
  5. More pictures and information on my German website: http://motag.de/spitfire.html Here the newest picture for my future project pre war Spitfire WC O S. For a long time I have built my first version as WZ O C, with a outboard camera on the right wing. Unfortunately, my template for this was of poor image quality, so the camera is wrong. Here is the better template of WC O C These templates are for my new project ... The next picture is very interesting as the machine has the serial number under the motor housing and the camera on the right side!
  6. Merci Komrad! Well, it is a good beginning. The problem is only, that some part are original Aluminium (dark and light), some parts are painted in alu-color and some other parts over painted with clear Lacquer
  7. Thanks for the praise for my model. Unfortunately my conversion is not perfect, I had to make corrections several times. Some of the images on the web are incorrectly labeled or have misleading titles. I actually wanted to build the very first version here. My next step will be a later version, with a modified vertical tail, different engine part and the first cannons in the wings. picture sources: Alfred Price: spitfire at war, part I /II /III
  8. Can someone please help me? I'm looking for a template for the P-51D for the different shades of aluminum sheets. I saw such a template somewhere, but I couldn't find anything in my extensive manual library.
  9. Front glass for the cockpit, ground round, polished and covered with clear varnish Now the decals, then everything would be almost finished. For the next conversion I will use Tamiya's Mk.Ia models.
  10. In my research I saved a lot of this type on my PC, lots of photos, graphics and ideas. In October 2022 I finally decided to use the old Airfix Spitfire Mk.VB kit. I have already used some of the wing for a conversion into a Mk.IIb. I didn't want to throw away this old kit and decided to turn it into an interesting project. First the engine was removed, the vertical tail fin, the new engine of the first prototype version is already ready for testing. I once received an incomplete resin kit from ALLEYCAT in Telford as a gift, the best prerequisite for several conversions. Custom made parts for an early Spitfire I cut out the dent from this wing and used it for a Mk.IIb. The bags on the bottom were too small for a real Mk.Vb Conversion is now in action my decal order from Newzealand within 10 day in Germany
  11. And we continue today. Hasegawa's decals are of limited use. THE US national emblems have yellowed. So I'm looking for new ones. It's worth keeping old Revell decals. Anti-glare protection for the P-51D is ready.
  12. Very nice template! The outside circele of USAF-Star ist not in blue!
  13. So here is my fiddly work, just finished, not completely dry yet. Anyone who uses Techmod's decals should be told: Place the decals individually in the water. These roll up immediately. Wait until they start to smooth out again, then let it soften further outside!! MicroSol whether red or blue, or Reveldecalsoft only helps a little, if not at all. I used white cold glue, which cannot be removed later with water. I had to remove the coat of arms on the hood because of the curvatures
  14. Yesterday my model was sealed with a thin layer of clear varnish. Now it has to harden! In comparison Bf 108 and P-47M
  15. The paint is finished, the canopy is still there without it, the propeller is already painted, the additional tanks are finished, Up to this point, my gut feeling is that everything about the color is ok. The first semi-gloss varnish layer is still missing, then everything has to take longer to harden.
  16. By the way, I took a deeper look around the web, there is a lot to be found about Major Hubertus von Bonin, but less about his Fw 190A-4 and when I looked through the pictures and templates I came to the conclusion that everyone does their own thing. The information available on this FW is sparse and sometimes unclear, difficult to assess. That's why I chose this camouflage, because in Russia they used captured colors to camouflage their own machines and the RLM was far away, so they just tried and improvised depending on the location. Ready for Inspection Here is an A-5 from the SGeschwaderstabes with the identification <- + -, unfortunately the number on the second crossbar is not visible and apparently the Tail is only yellow in the lower area? The number "5" is missing on the hood, it is not Maj. Bonin's machine. Here is the correct machine Fw 190A-4 from Major v. Bonin. picture sources: Eleven pages are filled with operational reports for the JG54 squadron staff, which do not contribute anything to the appearance and identifications. Only the following is published about painting: The fact that the old paint was under the winter camouflage (often lime paint) is not even taken into account. My model is ready!
  17. I already had a machine from Hubertus v. based on some eBay templates. Bonin built. This time it will be a colorful box again, because the painting looks awesome and can be an eye-catcher. What is already quietly hinted at here has become certain at a dry wedding. The age of the molds for this kit is noticeable, fuselage parts are slightly warped, the TFL connections are slightly bent inwards. Ergo, you have to help with plastic sheet. I have for many of my 1:48 models own airbrsuh templates, easy and fast to use ! Plus RLM 83 with some RLM02 surfaces
  18. Since the other models I have started still need a little time for all the glue points and colors to harden and this kit has been lying around in my collection for a long time and screamed at me every time I stood at my shelf: "Please build me, please build me, build me, build me, bui ld me, build me,..." I just couldn't hear this whining anymore
  19. My model P-51D has "married" and is completely basic painted in lacquered silver And here my own decals for Weavers P-51D
