  1. Nice foto collection! But interesting for us ist this here: two sources and two fotos from the same Spit AC. Both fotos are not the same, note some little perspective differences! Lt. Dave Hastie (left) & Lt. Sidney "Dick" Richards, with "Billy Boy II" displaying their "kill" markings, Spitfire Mk.VIII, AX-A, JF406, 1. sqdn, Trigno, Italy, February 1944..
  2. One of the most colorful fighter squadron of German Luftwaffe was the "Jagdgeschwader 53". I have built some models from these with many work and effort. The color layout only decides in the end, even if the kit is very old or has lower quality. Some few months ago I was looking in my - actually from 23 volumes consisting (Die Deustche Jagdfliegerverbände" - and found in the part II (Sitzkrieg") "phoney war" an interesting template. It was a Messerschmitt Bf 109E-4, yellow "1" of 3. / JG 53 from OLtn. Wolfgang Lippert. On 23 November 1941, OLtn. Lippert baling out of his stricken aircraft, he broke both his legs when he struck the vertical stabiliser. He was captured and taken to a hospital. He died from an embolism after the operation without regaining consciousness. Wolfgang Lippert was credited with 30 victories. basic kit is from Hasegawa - a very old Bf 109E kit Decals from my private decal collection box corlor AGAMA/ XTRA Color changed parts: new position light on the wings (left/ rigth) new antenna wire and new aerial mast control cable rudder spindle vertical stabilizer the foto template my paper template in scale 1:48 Rollout:
  3. What for a device / equipment it is on this prototype K5054- right, plase?
  4. Today it's going on with my yellow "1" my model has married: Wing, fuselage and undercarriage ... all the parts are welded together. Today I began to built with all little parts: antenna wire and rod: wire diameter: ... ~ 0,06 mm special plastik tube - only colored. The resion is the tube is very stable! turnbuckle: ... ~0,1mm, this tube is hollow, so you can the wire tedious cable looping (English is correct so??) For this step I use this here - blue for antenna wire only and white for turnbuckle! in the moment the coat of arms from JG53 is not on the model ....
  5. It was only a gift - a Spitfire Mk.IX from Ocideatia - it is a bullsh... kit. Many parts were to big and coarse. The decals are only for the rest room! If you have not a old second kit with some exchange parts, then I think it is the best for waste. But I'm a kit modeller since more than 35 years and so I give my best to built a interesting model from PFT (Polish Figthing Team) The template picture I sitting on some days in front of my aircraft books and read here and look there. Then I found in a polish publikation a interesting picture: Spitfire Mk IXc, early version with stiffeners (is it correkt in English??) on the wings, a not little bump over the engine area and some additional engines sheets for new and longer Merlin engine area. The serial number identified from other and this is a Mk.V fuselage and wing (with stiffeners) Nice template I found in this book at page 44 and more. Very good photo report from PTF-Maschines of Mk.XIC-versions The kit and Decals: decals has incorrect diameters and incorrct colors And now my kit: excahnge parts: canon from ICM undercarriage from ICM Coffmann starter selfmade propeller modified wing canon selfmade antenna wire selfmade this SZ o Q has no maintenance markings, serial number and all overpainted because this Spitfire was not a new aircraft for FPT. On the end: it is a interesting kit, not for competention but good for eyes and a kit for my polish IPMS team, it isn't?
  6. This was a bullsh... kit from "Ccidental", All parts were very rough, many parts I removed by ICM-Parts (Mk.XI) The propeller was only a big part of plastik sheet. I have made a propeller - with a profile - from this. But I could not throw this kit it in the garbage! So I made the best of it - and it was simple. And the weapon on the left top side is complete self made! Look here!
  7. That's only my personal opinion! Your model building was a big cinema performance And now the last steps ... the complete colors give your model the hopefully best and last finishing touches. In the moment I think you must redesign both roundels on the Spitfire wings! The center line of the RAF roundels is the same line of the outer cannons covering flap The roundels on the topside are a bit too small in diameter. The color coverage is better if you use a white underground I'm a big fan of service regulations and standards of German Luftwaffe, RAF/ RAAF... I do my best to adhere to these standards. ....................................................................
  8. More interesting pictures you can find in the book "Polish Wings" #13, Supermarine Spitfire 1942-1943. I have used it for one of my last spitfire models- a Mk.IXc early version- a Mk.V-conversion.
  9. I know this serial numberlist. I have linked these also too in my own walkaround from pre-war-Spitfire (only for privatly use!) Well, I have see thie in the additinal rersin and brass parts von Eduard, but I have never seen these the different in a book or website dokument. Therfore I hope to get more in this thread.
  10. All is very interesting to read here- with help from online transletater, because my English is not good. A spitfire Mk.IX (or Mk.VIII with serail number MHxxx?)) with long tipped wings ... a fine template for a new model for me For long time I know these website here and I think that is many stuff to read about Spitfire Mk.VIII from SAAF (see all threads!) - particularly spitfire in natural metal without armaments and long tipped wings What is your opinion? [C] "The SAAF Forum" Can everyone show me with more detais what isl the different between underwing from Mk.VIII an Mk.IX, I have not found a good source for this is German or US books .
  11. Good idea: build prototypes with the rest of the old AIRFIX kit. I have now on my screen! All adicional and importantl resin parts I have in my collection. It was a personal gift from AlleyCat producer in Telford 2013. The fuselage was brocken and the wing was lost.
  12. Well, also too for your long time Spitfire collection expansion project. I have read this every time
  13. The postman ringing on my house door today. In the mailing were Decals from Dutch - correction parts for my Spirfire! At first i removed the VHF-antenna wire and at second the old indianer decal from fuselage. This is very simple - with "Thesa" tape. Press and pull down on the decals spot - that'S all. And... all is ready for next inspektion!
  14. Well, show us and myself these as image correction reference. I'm very interesting, because I want to built models with high quality and realism. I hope, It is'nt a problem for you?
  15. 1/48 Projects: Bf 109E3 (JG53, yellow 1); Bf 109E3 (red 5 Poland), Spitfire Mk.IIa, Me 262B (red 10), Tyhpoon Ib with great correktion sets

  16. Thanks for all reply. This technic of battle damage is an old idea. I have had a special shop in Berlin (now closed!). There we have make a monthly meetings with kit modellers. And there was this idea born in 2006! Thanks, for your reply. Well, I will removed it today. I learn like this, nobody is perfect. On the photo you can imagine it only. It is no problem for me Oh no, Bullsh ...., TechMod! Then I have to sue in court Techmod. I have found these correct decals by german dealer and have order these for correction now!
  17. And now: here is my newest kit in scale 1/48: a conversion to Spitfire Mk.IIb Thank's bob for your comment. I'm larning to be happy! The only problem for me: German WWII aircrafts were classified as version with help of serial number on the vertical tail. After a great industrial repair also a new engine may bee has installed so that a new version may actually occur (or not) Bf 109G-6 --> Bf 109G-14 or Bf 109G5 --> Bf 109G14 .... and soon. And how were clissidfied RAF WWII aircrafts? I think the serial number of "QJ o S" is a Mk.IIB. And also too these aircraft was in a great industrial conversion from Mk.II --> Mk.V. I do not argue here. But for me, this is clearly a Mk.IIb - on the basis of serial number and a new Merlin 45 engine.
  18. And now the rollout of my new model: Roundels of the wing make with Airbrsuh!
  19. Some times ago my friend put on my table an old airfix kit. He ask me what we can do with these old kit in scale 1/48. I answer only: Give the model for children's or to someone do you want resent. Then I opened the box and just said: "wow". I have a good idea. I can make a conversion if you give me only the wing underside of kit. The bumps on the wing underside is the god dimenson for a version Mk.IIb I'm member of IPMS Swidnica in Poland, but I living in Germany. Our special is to built a model of Polish Figting Team in RAF of WWII. And so I found a fine foto template for my new model. The decals I have had since many times in my collections (from Techmod) I used also decals from Techmod and Tamiya, The basic kit is a Tamiya Mk.Vb in scale 1/48, simple to built and within three days I was ready with the shell model. I can show my god(?) idea for fire damage to the vertical stabilizer and horizontal stabilizer. This damage has occurred during a dogfight with a Bf 109F. [c] IWM
  20. Well, I have had the similar problem with my He 219A-0 kit (Tamiya 1/48) At first I make all letter decals selfmade with my inkjet printer and decal lequid film. The result was after 3 day absolutly poor. The ink has begun to tear. Then I moved the letter decals again with Thesa tape and make with Tamiya tape a new letter template for airbrsuh. You get only sharp edges with Tamiya tape and a new scalpel Alto too for all German Balkenkreuz I used special tape for plotter mashines.
